    Everything that was worked on is better: The UUC is shorter and operates smoother and with less effort, the brakes don't squeek and now can be modulated, the mid range (4500 plus) is stonger. Now for the biggest improvement, the PSS-9's. The car centers and tracks MUCH better, is more connected and above 20mph is "smoother". Inshort it is a diff. car. How is it possible for the coil-overs to have that much of an affect, and I have yet to track it. Was there something wrong with the stock equipment? Do you align to diff. specs that work better? Or is the stock suspension just not good? To sum it up, I'm impressed with how much better my M3 is after the work that was done. -Doug

In extreme cases, the ball joint has been known to pop free of the control arm, resulting in total steering loss.

    Meyle has addressed this problem with metal ball joints, similar to those used on the E36 M3. The metal in the HD joint will not wear or fatigue nearly as fast as the standard ball joints. The lifespan is greatly extended. The lack of play will mean sharper steering, restoring much of the car's precision and fun-to-drive character.     Control Arms With Solid Rubber Bushings (Left & Right Set) - E36, Z3 - Meyle HD   (more info)
    One common weak point in the E36 3-series model range is in the mounting and ball joints of the suspension. The front suspension ball joints in particular are prone to wearing out quite quickly thanks to a soft material in the ball joint itself, leaving you in a potentially dangerous situation. At best, worn ball joints and bushings will give you poor steering feedback and clunking noises. However, loose or worn ball joints will have excessive play which will drastically reduce the effectiveness of the steering and suspension. In extreme cases, the ball joint has been known to pop free of the control arm, resulting in total steering loss.

    Meyle has addressed this problem with a higher-grade metal in their HD ball joints, similar to those used on the E36 M3. The metal will not wear or fatigue nearly as fast as the standard ball joints. The lifespan is greatly extended. A side benefit of the stiffer joint is better steering response. The metal will not flex or deflect like plastic, rubber, or any other material. The lack of play will mean sharper steering, restoring much of the car's precision and fun-to-drive character. Meyle is a German brand in business since 1958 and all of their products are TUV approved and meet or exceed ISO standards.

    We supply the Meyle HD control arms as a set with new M3 rubber control arm bushings. You can choose bushings with either a centered hole (same as stock original) or with an offset hole (adds caster and camber). The stock rubber bushings (manufactured by Boge) will be perfect for most people but if you're looking for an upgrade, the offset bushings will give the car quicker steering response. The solid rubber mounts last longer and give better feedback than the original web design.

    All Meyle HD parts come with a 4-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

    Made in the USAIncreasing the negative camber of your E36M3/MZ3 will reduce understeer and prolong the life of your tires when used on the track. These plates simply bolt on top of the factory upper strut bearings of your M car and will increase negative camber by 2º. Vehicle height in the front will be raised by .25”. Material has also been added to increase stiffness of contact area, therefore reducing the strut tower deformation and increasing the strength of the strut towers. Fixed mount camber plates are legal for all BMWCCA classes and many SCCA classes. This is a simple bolt on part.

    Made in the USAThe custom-made TMS adjustable camber plates for the E36 provide up to 4 degrees of negative camber. These beautifully made aluminum camber plates have solid no-play spherical bearings that are ideal for racing or high performance track events. These camber plates are nearly identical to the BMW Motorsport version with a few TMS improvements (including the price). These units replace the rubber upper strut bearing and are easily adjusted by loosening the 3 factory nuts and sliding the camber plate in and out.     E36 Front Subframe Reinforcement Kit   (more info)
    Made in the USAAs E36s get older and see more track-use, they start develop cracks and bends in places that see a lot of stress. One of the most stressful areas is the front subframe. It's a good idea to reinforce your front subframe the next time you're doing any suspension work. This kit reinforces the upper and lower tabs of the subframe where the motor mount is located. Requires welding.

    E36 Rear Subframe/Chassis Reinforcement Kit   (more info)
    These are the BMW factory chassis reinforcement plates that came on the E36 M3s (some very early 1994-production M3 models may not have had them). This reinforcement should be done on all non-M E36 models especially when used in track/autocross situations. The kit is a set of 4 plates that are added to reinforce the rear subframe chassis mounts. BMW discovered that over time, due to the bending of the rear of the chassis in conjunction with the movement allowed by the rubber bushings in the rear, the chassis mounting points for the subframe would flex, weaken, and if left unattended, rip out of the chassis. The stock mounts are basically a flat plate with an internally threaded tube that are welded to the chassis. The flex of the rear subframe causes the threaded tube and mounting bolt to act as a lever arm at the point where the flat plate is welded to the chassis, weakening the surrounding sheet metal. Due to the direction of force of the torque applied by the drivetrain on the subframe, the first mount to rip out is the passenger’s side front mount, followed by the drivers side rear mount. Having these plates welded to the underside of the chassis significantly stiffens the mounts and stops the weakening of them.

    In order to weld these plates in, the rear suspension, rear subframe, exhaust, and driveshaft must be removed. It is also strongly recommended that the back seat, rear interior, trunk interior, and fuel tank are removed and all fuel lines are capped to reduce the fire hazard while welding.

    E36, Z3 Strut Tower Reinforcement Plates (Pair)   (more info)
    The shock towers on the E36 and Z3 are notoriously weak. Under normal driving conditions with a stock suspension it is unlikely that you will ever have a problem. But with a street or race suspension with firm springs much of the energy from pounding the road is transmitted to the thin sheet metal in the strut tower. This pounding will cause the tower to deform or even crack. Look for 'mushrooming' or deformity around the holes for the three mounting studs at the top of the strut tower. These plates will help disperse the energy and save you from costly repairs in the future. A strut brace also helps to prevent this but these plates are designed to reinforce the strut tower from the bottom.

    Turner Motorsport Camber Arm Reinforcement Kit   (more info)
    Made in the USAThis TMS reinforcement kit is used to reinforce the stock rear lower camber arms just like BMW Motorsport does for its own production-class racing efforts. Factory camber arms are made to bend or split above certain loads to break in the event of an accident to help absorb the impact. Under race applications these loads can be exceeded under normal cornering forces. A main benefit of using the stock camber arms is that many racing classes allow for reinforcement of this part, and it increases the overall strength of the suspension. With welding experience, this kit can easily be installed by you. These arms differ from our own adjustable camber arms in that you can still use a streetable bushing on either end making it great for dual purpose street/track cars. They are ideal for racing classes that do not allow for alternate suspension components but do allow for alternate bushing materials. Stiffer than the stock units and still adjustable for camber. This arm is legal in many racing classes where an aftermarket arm is not permitted. Sold individually, two required per car.

    Steering Rack Alignment Tool - E36 & MZ3   (more info)
    This tool was developed by the TMS race crew for multiple applications, such as centering the steering rack, centering the steering wheel, and attaining repeatable alignments. This results in significant time savings when doing street or track suspension setups.

    A centered steering rack prevents handling issues such as uneven bump steer, inconsistent steering resistance and unequal turning radius left to right. With this tool, every alignment will have the rack in the same place every time, which can save time when doing a quick check of toe after a hard day at the track or on the street. If your steering rack is in the same place for every alignment then the steering wheel will also be in the same place, hence eliminating the need to reset the steering wheel. Every time a toe adjustment is done and the tie rod is moved without the alignment tool, it moves the steering rack, resulting in having to recheck all alignment numbers after each adjustment, resulting in having to set up the alignment equipment after every adjustment.     Made in the USAThe ORIGINAL rear trailing arm bushing / RTAB shim kit -- and still the best! The Turner rear trailing-arm bushing limiter kit creates a stiffer rear suspension without sacrificing ride quality. Stock trailing arm bushings are known for failure, on both the E36 and E46 BMW chassis. This kit is a perfect upgrade from stock, as it reduces bushing deflection, dramatically increases bushing life, improves handling, and all without the harshness of "race-only" bushings, and while maintaining completely silent operation -- no squeaks and no vibration, whatsoever.

    By combining these limiters with stock bushings, this is a great low cost and effective suspension performance enhancer. Each pair of blue aluminum "shims" essentially sandwich the stock rubber bushing to control their lateral movement. By limiting the amount of side-to-side play of the stock bushing, drivers will have increased driver feel thanks to the reduction of toe variation caused by the squirm of the stock rubber bushings. This also reduces duress on the bushing, giving your newly installed bushings a dramatically longer lifespan (a welcome benefit for both pure street or tracked cars). Some stock class racing series even allow this kind of modification, because the stock bushing is still being used.

    Rear Suspension Mounts With No Flex or Deflection for Improved Handling, Response, and Long Life
    Building a track-only or racecar means swapping out the flexible rubber bushings and mounts for non-distorting solid pieces. The stock rubber bushings have serious drawbacks when used hard on the racetrack - they wear out quickly, and the flexible material allows extreme changes in alignment. Switching to solid bushings will eliminate the deflection and flex, keeping the suspension motions in their intended alignment and providing more feedback to the driver. On the E36, solid bushings can help prevent rear subframe failure as the sheetmetal chassis will no longer flex along with the rubber mount. Depending on the bushing's intended purpose, the material we use is either aluminum or Delrin. Delrin is a dense plastic material that has almost zero deflection and long life. It's self-lubricating so it won't ever need grease or lube. All of our bushings are designed by our in-house R&D engineers and tested on our various racing cars, with many used in professional racing series around the world.

    If you're building a car for a racing class, the parts and materials you can change to are specified in the rules. Consult your rulebook or tech steward for any clarification. As these bushings have no play or deflection in them, they are not intended for street-focused cars - they do not absorb impacts and vibration like rubber will.

    Made in the USATMS rear subframe bearings are designed to limit rear control arm movement relative to the subframe. The stock BMW subframe bushings are made out of rubber, which allows variance in suspension position due to deformation and compression. A race car needs to have all suspension points remain in place for proper setup. By using high grade aircraft aluminum alloy and high performance race bearings, the TMS bushing replacements are both lightweight and strong. The casing is designed so that if maximum motion occurs, the load will be evenly distributed throughout the casing. Our flanges are designed to spread the load on the subframe and limit movement.     Rear Outer Upper or Lower Trailing Arm Ball Joint - E36, E46, X3, Z4   (more info)
    This ball joint is used for the upper rear trailing arm bushing on ALL E36, E46, E83 X3, and E85 Z4 cars. BMW also used it as the lower bushing on most M cars. It makes a great upgrade on all non-M cars where BMW used a rubber bushing at the lower position.

And it can be used as a replacement for the existing bushing without any further modification. The non-M cars used a solid rubber bushing for the lower arm (camber arm, wishbone) which does not last very long and relies on bushing deflection (twist) during suspension motions. The ball joint inside the upgraded design is much more effective during this suspension movements as it does not bind or deflect. And because it's sealed with rubber it will last a long time and remain quiet and maintenance free. Most customers report that after installing or "upgrading" to these bushings the rear end of their car felt much more stable.

    Made in the USAWant the Ultimate design in a rear shock tower mount? You've found it. These rear shock mounts are designed for use on the track and racing. This set of mounts will help your rear shocks perform the best they can in those conditions. The advantage to using a mount with spherical bearing is that it allows the shock to freely move off axis without side loading the shock shaft like rubber or polyurethane mounts do. Side loading a shock increases stiction and wear which decreases its efficiency. Because these are mounts without an isolator (rubber or polyurethane) to dampen road noise and vibrations we do not recommend them for street cars. These were designed in-house and developed for our own track and race cars.

    These TMS bearing mounts include both 10mm and 12mm stainless steel bearing sleeves to work with a wide variety of shock shaft pins. The pin is the upper-most portion of the shock where it passes through the mount. If you need a bearing sleeve size other then 10mm or 12mm please contact us.

    Made in the USATMS E36 solid sub-frame bushings are designed for track and racecars to remove twisting and flexing of the subframe where it mounts to the rear floor. This twisting is one of the causes of rear subframe/floor failure in E36 cars. We originally developed these for our SCCA SPEED World Challenge cars. A BMW’s subframe is the heart of the suspension. Because the subframe is mounted with rubber isolators, when the subframe moves, so does the rest of the suspension mounting points. As the rubber wears and becomes more pliable, the alignment and suspension settings move even more. Replace the stock rubber bushings to limit drivetrain and suspension movement and keep your car set up the way it’s supposed to be.

    Our mounts are designed using a CAD program with further attention paid to making the mount as light as possible. We also notched the flanges to allow the use of the BMW factory removal tools. One front bushing is slotted to allow for compliance between manufacturing standards as BMW specifies. These bushings are CNC machined out of high grade billet aluminum.

    Rear Subframe-Diff Mount Set - Turner Solid Race - E36 318ti, Z3   (more info)
    Made in the USAA BMW’s subframe is the heart of the rear suspension. The differential is part of the subframe, as it is a stress member system. When the subframe moves, so do all of the rear suspension mounting points. Replacing the stock rubber subframe bushings with solid aluminum will limit drivetrain and suspension movement and keep your car’s suspension geometry the way it’s supposed to be. The Delrin diff mount bushing is a near-solid mount that will last longer than the original rubber and does not 'wind up' under load/unload. This transfers more power through the axles to the wheels. The Turner Motorsport E36 318ti and Z3 solid subframe and differential mount bushing kit is a direct replacement for the stock BMW subframe mounts and differential bushing. We have incorporated ideas from our other race style solid bushings not only make these very light weight but also to be fully serviceable and removable in the case of subframe or diff cover replacement. This kit is a legal upgrade in many racing classes.

    We also sell the Solid Differential mount and Subframe Mounts separately, for those that may already have one of the products or if you desire spares for fast installation. A common example is if you have two differentials with covers, and want to make fast gearing changes at the track.

    Made in the USAThese Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (RTABs) are designed for specific racing classes where more solid or bearing-style bushings are not allowed. Delrin is a very hard plastic material with almost zero deflection and also lasts a lot longer than using any type of rubber or urethane bushing. Since there is less wasted motion with a solid bushing, the suspension can react faster and give you more feedback. The rear alignment stays in check during hard cornering, braking, and acceleration. You will corner faster and be able to get the power down earlier at corner exit with increased confidence.

    Delrin is a near solid bushing that does not absorb or dampen vibration or impact harshness. Therefore, we only recommend these for track-spec cars or street cars and drivers with more tolerance for noise, vibration, and harshness.

    These are a direct replacement for the factory bushings. Special installation tools are required but Delrin does not need long-term care or maintenance. Price is for the pair.

    Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (RTAB) - Meyle HD Rubber - E36, E46, Z4 (Pair)   (more info)
    The rear trailing arm bushings (RTABs) control the toe alignment of the rear suspension. When they go bad, the rear traction suffers because the wheel's toe angle is moving excessively in and out during cornering. This can make the car feel nervous and 'tail happy' even during modest cornering speeds. As important as these bushings are, they only seem to last 40-50,000 miles on their own.

    These German-made Meyle bushings are about 20% stiffer than the originals. The harder rubber allows less compliance which gives better feedback and crisper handling. All Meyle HD parts are warranted for 4 years. It's a performance upgrade with no downside.

    Any RTAB would benefit from our Bushing Limiters. These spacer shims fit on either side of the bushing and limit excess rotation. It's this over-extending of the bushing that causes them to wear out so fast. The Limiters will prolong the life of the bushing and are an easy install when performing the bushing replacement.

    If you're experiencing a "loose" feeling when going around corners, these are the likely culprit. The rear bushings on these cars will wear out just like any other bushing. When this happens, the rear toe (the angle that the tire points in or out) will vary under load. These M3 bushings are more durable than the stock bushings and hold up better than the original bushings. These rear trailing arm bushings (often referred to as RTAB) are listed as the replacement to BMW part numbers 33322228153 and 33-32-2-228-153.

    This is the most up to date version of this bushing. We recommend professional installation as these now require special tools for installation.

    Made in the USAOur Monoball Rear Trailing Arm Bushings are the best solution for completely elimination deflection and unwanted toe changes on the rear of the E36, E46, and Z4. While rubber and urethane bushings flex during load, the toe can change widely giving you nervous and unpredictable handling. These RTABs have a solid aluminum housing with a high-quality race bearing. These bushings were developed over years of competition use in various racing and HPDE events. There is simply no better RTAB unless your racing class rules prohibit the use of mono or spherical bearings.

    The rear trailing arm bushings take a lot of abuse from acclerating, braking and cornering. The stock rubber bushings are just not up to the task of keeping rear wheel alignment in spec for very long, especially if you have upgraded to stickier tires and a better suspension. The pliable rubber flexes and twists which slows down reaction time and leaves you with a car that feels nervous and 'tail happy'. Urethane helps to control the alignment but issues with fitment, maintenance, and longevity keep us from recommending urethane on anything but a street car. We also offer a Delrin RTAB for cars that must conform to certain racing class rules. These aluminum spherical bearings are the best at controlling rear toe alignment.

    Our aluminum RTABs are very well made - high grade aluminum alloy and steel CNC'd out of a billet by an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer, each component is either hardcoated or nickel plated. The bearing is extra wide to accept higher loads and is replacable for a nominal cost. While multiple manufacturer’s offer two piece designs, our research showed that a one piece bushing is a better design.

    Because solid bushings transmit more noise, vibration, and harshness we do not recommend their use on any street car. These are sold for race or track-prepped cars only.

    Adjustable Sway Bar Link   (more info)
    Allows easy adjustment of pre-load on front sway bar / swaybar. A must for cars with lowered suspensions when the stock, non-adjustable links may be adding pre-load to the sway bar when the car is resting. The easily adjustable link allows you to take pre-load off the bar for optimum handling and minimal stress on the links themselves. Only one link is required per car, though using two adjustable links is suggested.

    This adjustable sway bar / swaybar link fits a variety of BMWs, including 1995-1999 E36 M3, E46 3 series (1999-2005, including M3) and Z4. These do not fit non-M E36 3 series, except for very early 325i/is produced before 06/1992.     E36/E46 Rear Adjustable Length Sway Bar End Links (Pair)   (more info)
    These adjustable rear links are only required when using sway bar / swaybars with a suspension with a very low ride height, where it may be necessary to adjust the length of the end links for proper sway bar clearance from the drive axles or other suspension components. These suspensions are usually found only on race cars but this may also apply to street cars with sport springs/sport coil overs that are lowered a lot. On most street cars lowered 1.5" or less, the stock links will be fine.

    These end links feature a Heim joint, which allows enough lateral movement when disconnected to adjust the length of the link without removing the entire link from the car. This is particularly helpful when eliminating or adjusting preload while tuning the suspension. Similar links without this joint, can't be adjusted without totally removing the link from the car.

    Built-in grease fittings allow for occasional lube, and a packet of grease is included. These links are sold as a set, and include two end links and hardware for H&R and TMS sway bars (other brands may not need the hardware). Note: these links will not work with factory or non-adjustable Eibach sway bars.

    At their shortest setting they are 2.875" hole to hole and on their longest setting they are 3.5" hole to hole.

    Meyle HD Front Sway Bar Link for E30 318/325, E36 318/325/328, Z3   (more info)
    If you have a clunking sound in the front end, the front swaybar end-link is one of the items to check. The standard plastic ball joint inside the boot will wear or crack, allowing excess motion. This is a Meyle HD part with metal ball joints that will last longer than the standard design. These links are identical to the standard links except for the ball joint and mount the swaybar to the control arm.     Meyle HD Front Sway Bar Link for E36 M3, MZ3   (more info)
    Ball-joint failure in the front sway bar / swaybar link on the E36 M3, M Roadster and M Coupe is something that can't be avoided. But Meyle's HD sway bar links feature a metal ball joint that will hold up longer than the factory replacements and come with a four year warranty.

    How do you know if the link has gone bad? From inside the car you will hear a clunking noise when going over bumps. The clunk is a sure sign a ball joint (control arm, tie rod, swaybar link) has failed. Diagnosis with a set of channel-lock pliers will reveal a large amount of play in the ball joint itself.
