Auxiliary Water Pump with Heater Valve - E39 540i M5, E38 740i/il
(more info) The auxiliary water pump helps to move coolant through the heating system. Sometimes the unit can develop leaks or the pump itself may fail.
It also includes the heater valve which controls the flow of coolant through the heater core. If the heater valve becomes stuck open you may get hot air when attempting to use the A/C.
