Hotchkis Sport Rear Sway Bar - E46 M3 - 25mm Tubular Design (more info)
As used on the championship winning TMS E46 M3 grand sport race cars -- this 25mm tubular (hollow) rear sway bay is 2 way adjustable. The "soft" position offers +79% stiffness over stock, while the "firm" adjustment is +105% stiffer as stock (twice as stiff).

Because of the curvature design of this bar, we've found it is the best choice for E46 M3 that are either aggressively lowered or a full E46 M3 race car. It will also work on street and track cars perfectly, where clearance issues aren't as much of a concern. Can be used on all 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2005 model M3 coupe (convertibles may have fitment / clearance problems).

Get the right sway bar end links! We highly recommend adding adjustable rear end links (not included). These links give you 6 different tuning rates via the positioning of the end link, better durability, and greasable bushings. To add these end links, please choose your option below.

This set of sway bars are built by H&R in Germany to specs from Turner Motorsport! To reduce the understeering affects of a staggered wheel setup you want a balanced set of sway bars. We use a 2-way adjustable 27mm front bar and a 3-way adjustable, 21mm rear bar. These anti-roll bars have precision forged ends and include bushings made from an H&R-exclusive urethane/Teflon composite that eliminates squeaks and don't require lubrication. The bars are powder coated for long-lasting good looks. These bars are made from a proprietary alloy that is both stronger and more resilient than other sway bar kits.

Fitment
These bars fit in the stock locations using the existing brackets and links. Adjustable links are not required but recommended if the car is lowered or if you have coil overs. We can also include new factory links with the hardware pressed in for a quicker install. This is especially helpful in the rear where the hardware can be tricky. To avoid pre-loading the bar, it is best to leave one side un-done until the car is lowered to the ground. Never connect both links to the same bar with the car off the ground.

Do I need adjustable sway bar links?
The adjustable sway bar links ensure that there is no pre-load on the bar and that the bar has the correct clearance to other suspension components. Pre-load is when the bar is slightly stressed when it's on the car. If you have to force the links to fit the bar because it has tension then you have pre-load. Adjustable links fix all of that because you can then shorten or lengthen the link to match the installation of the bar. If you have coil overs or the car is very low, you should definately have the adjustable links because these conditions may contribute to the pre-load situation.

Setup
The bars are adjustable so any driver can find an ideal setup for the type of driving they are doing. The sway bar becomes stiffer in the hole(s) furthest from the end of the bar. We would generally recommend starting out with the front bar set to the stiffer setting and the rear bar positioned in the middle. Adjust to your liking from there.

Overview
The Turner Motorsport sway bar / swaybars for the E46 M3 were designed to provide better overall balance and performance than the stock anti-roll bars. With these bars you can greatly reduce bodyroll and decrease the understeering effects of a staggered wheel setup. They are adjustable in the front (3-position) and the rear (2-position) to fine tune the handling for both the street and the track. The TMS anti-roll bars are sized at 30mm in the front and 25mm in the rear (+4 and +3.5mm, respectively). H&R's exclusive urethane / Teflon bushings are included. The Teflon inner lining requires no lubrication or maintenance so you won’t have to put up with annoying squeaks and annual greasing work. These bars are crafted from a special 50CrV4 spring steel that is both stronger and more resilient than competitive sway bars. They have been shot peened and heat treated, and feature precision forged ends. We feel that these are the best bars on the market for the E46 M3 - we have used these on our race-winning M3s in the Koni Challenge and SCCA T2 classes.
