This is a replacement power steering fluid reservoir. Why replace the reservoir? Because the connection between the reservoir tank and the hoses is one of the prime locations for power steering leaks on these cars. It's mostly due to the style of clamp that BMW used. But also any replacement clamps are usually over-tightened on these plastic reservoir nipples. There is also a filter inside the reservoir that cannot be changed or serviced. So it's a good idea to replace the tank and get a new filter at the same time. With fresh fluid and a clean filter you might be able to restore some steering smoothness and precision to your BMW! The LF-20 power steering pump is the type that these cars came with from the factory. Later models came equipped from BMW with an LF-30 Power Steering Pump which operates at higher pressure and requires less steering effort. Some drivers prefer the lighter steering, while other enthusiasts tend to prefer the LF-20's lower boost as they feel it provides better steering feel.

This tool was developed by the TMS race crew for multiple applications, such as centering the steering rack, centering the steering wheel, and attaining repeatable alignments. This results in significant time savings when doing street or track suspension setups. Works on E46 3 series including E46 M3, 325i, 325Ci, 328i, 328Ci, 330i & 330ci (including ZHP).

A centered steering rack prevents handling issues such as uneven bump steer, inconsistent steering resistance and unequal turning radius left to right. With this tool, every alignment will have the rack in the same place every time, which can save time when doing a quick check of toe after a hard day at the track or on the street. If your steering rack is in the same place for every alignment then the steering wheel will also be in the same place, hence eliminating the need to reset the steering wheel. Every time a toe adjustment is done and the tie rod is moved without the alignment tool, it moves the steering rack, resulting in having to recheck all alignment numbers after each adjustment, resulting in having to set up the alignment equipment after every adjustment. Replacement steering rack boot includes 1 boot, 2 boot clamps and 1 bushing.. We recommend inspecting these boots while replacing tie rods or control arms. If these are cracked or damaged you should replace them. Sold individually.

Whether it is installing new wider wheels, tires, brake ducts, shocks, or springs, there could be a rubbing issue on the inside of your fender well. Our rack stops will help protect your investment. Rack stops are spacers that install inside of the tie rod and limits the amount of steering travel. You can save the costs of replacing rubbing tires, worn out brake ducts, cut shock reservoir hoses, and broken underside plastic panels. There is also the added benefit of knowing you can turn the steering wheel to full lock and not be worried that the wheels will rub. Our rack stop length is the approximate length that will be removed from the outside tire wall’s path. For example, if a 16mm rack stop is used, there will be 16mm more clearance for a brake duct between the fender well and the edge of the tire. Included with this kit: 2 Delrin rack stops, 1 black (driver’s side), 1 white (passenger’s side), 2 Locking plates (only needed on E36), 4 zip ties, detailed instructions.
