BMW E46 Headers

Headers are a bolt-on component that will make a huge improvement in how your BMW performs. As a replacement for your factory BMW exhaust manifold, our BMW headers provide a more direct path for exhaust gasses leaving your engine. Headers prevent your BMW's exhaust pulses from "fighting" one another as they leave the head. The end result is that BMW headers give you more power and torque, and you'll love the high-winding top end push that a free-breathing engine exhibits. BMW headers are a must-have if you're doing any engine modifications on your vehicle. Along with a cold air intake, BMW headers provide the free-flowing exhaust necessary to get the most power out of your motor.

Aside from a supercharger, adding headers to your E46 is the best route to more horsepower and torque. These headers from Supersprint are tubular stainless steel and are much freer-flowing than the stock BMW manifolds. This system moves the catalytic converters further downstream in the exhaust which helps produce more torque. The factory manifolds contain the catalytic converters and the small tubing chokes the exhaust gas as it exits the cylinder head. With these tubular headers, the exhaust flows much more freely. This is a perfect compliment to an intake or camshaft upgrade and a must if there is a supercharger installed! Professional installation required. (left-hand drive models only)

Experience the latest design innovation from Supersprint for the E46 M3 -- 'stepped' design headers. While the technology has been in widespread use in Formula 1 for awhile, this is the first application of a stepped design on the E46 M3. In an engine that is tuned as much as the S54, airflow management is critical in getting big horsepower numbers from the exhaust. The Supersprint design is the next step in innovation in header design. By slightly increasing the size of the pipe diameters as the exhaust system moves away from the engine, the exhaust can flow more air. Supersprint's design is tuned specifically for the S54 engine which is important in making more power without losing low-end torque. The headers merge into a precision-fit merge collector and then exhaust gases flow into the oversized S-pipe. Our most-popular package is for the stepped headers with no cats (straight pipe) but cats are available for people who want to keep their cars somewhat streetable. Total horsepower gain with the complete system over a US M3 would be more than 30hp.

We also recommend using this system on the M3 with special software. The Shark Injector software has been specifically designed for cars running headers but no cats. The software "turns down" the readings from the rear O2 sensors and modifies the tolerances for the EGT sensor. These high quality headers are a direct bolt on for the US BMW E46 M3 and deliver an impressive boost in power over the stock manifolds by removing the restrictive catalytic converters. In our testing for our own E46 M3 Grand Am race cars, we've found the US S54 engine simply needs a good set of headers to make better power. For years, we've been using the factory BMW Euro headers to give the US E46 M3 a big boost in power. Recently the factory headers have jumped up in price from BMW, opening the door for a lower cost alternative -- and these are them! These aftermarket coated headers accomplish the same goal and save you big money over the Euro M3 headers. Pulse-tuned length ensures maximum exhaust flow, while a dual-stage thermobaric ceramic coating lowers radiated heat temperatures by up to 65% as well as increasing the exhaust scavenging effect and reducing corrosion. Headers come ready to be installed, and include new manifold gaskets, exhaust crush/seal rings, as well as loctite thread sealant.

E46 M3 Track/Competition exhaust kit with specially-tuned Conforti Shark Injector^TM software. Turner Motorsport has exhaustive experience modifying the E46 M3 and we’ve put together what we think is the best bang for the buck. Kit includes Euro M3 headers (Supersprint "stepped" headers are optional), Supersprint straight pipes that delete the cats and resonators, and a Borla rear muffler system.

The torque peaks at a lower, more useable 4200 rpm as opposed to the stock car’s 5000 rpm. There’s over 240 ft-lbs of torque as low as 3500 rpm – the stock system doesn’t hit that for another 1000 rpm! Horsepower climbs steadily starting at 3500 with the biggest boost coming at 7200 rpm (+20hp). This system showed greater gains on our dyno than the standard Euro Headers and Euro Cat conversion. For an even greater hp gains use the new Supersprint "stepped" header system - now available at a special price!

With the Borla mufflers this system is quite a bit louder than the stock system but still easily tolerated for street use. The Supersprint race muffler system is louder still and recommended only for track cars. There is also a significant weight savings with this system making it perfect for track cars.

The Shark Injector^TM software has been specifically designed for cars running the Euro headers but no cats. The software "turns off" the reading from the rear O2 sensors and modifies the tolerances for the EGT sensor. Using this exhaust without the proper software will surely cause a Check Engine light. BMW factory headers from the Euro market E46 M3 replace your stock manifolds and eliminate your catalytic converters for a big power boost.
