    BMW E46 Shark Injector Performance Software, 1996-2005 Models

    The Shark Injector is an amazing hand-held unit that plugs into your car’s diagnostic port and re-flashes the computer with performance software.     This software is a major refinement of the stock software. It makes the car much easier to drive with less hesitation, more torque, and incredibly smooth operation. A lot of tuning has been done at the low RPM ranges to improve response. The car won’t hesitate or lag, making the car easier to drive. And with the extra torque you can drive in a higher gear and not have to downshift as often. Theoretically this means better fuel mileage too!

    How does it work? The Shark Injector makes changes to the stock BMW software in the areas of fuel enrichment, transition fueling, camshaft timing, ignition timing, and VANOS control to take full advantage of 91+ octane fuel. BMW ‘de-tuned’ cars for the North American market in the event inferior fuel was used. We reverse those changes to gain more horsepower and torque. 91 or higher octane fuel must be used.

    How does it install? The Shark Injector plugs into your car’s On Board Diagnostic (OBD) port, located under the dashboard in most cars. At the push of a button the Injector begins communicating with your car’s computer. The Shark handles everything from that point on – reading and copying the stock software, re-loading its own performance version, and checking its work along the way. The whole operation is completed in under 20 minutes. A battery charger with a continuous 10-20amp charge is required (available below if you do not currently own one).     330i ZHP Rev Limit: there are multiple versions of stock ZHP software and BMW used different rev limits in some of them. A ZHP automatic will always have a lower rev limit than a manual in the interest of preserving the automatic transmission. Our engine software will alter the rev limit set in the ECU but other limits in the auto transmission programming will maintain the factory rev limit. Manual ZHPs have stock rev limits that vary - some are set as high as 6920 by the factory software. The Shark ZHP software sets all manual tranmission rev limits to 6920.

    Does your 325 have the M56 "SULEV" Engine? Many of the 325's produced for the US -- particularly in California, Massachusetts, and a few other states -- came with a different engine, the M56 which meets "SULEV" (Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) emissions classification. A visual inspection of your engine (as shown below) is the best way to determine if your 325 has the M56 SULEV engine.

    RACE VERSION Performance Software for E46 M3
    The Race Shark Injector software has been specifically designed for race cars running headers and a racing exhaust with no catalytic converters. We have used this software with a number of different headers with great results! We recommend the factory BMW Euro headers because the fitment and quality is excellent and they produced a lot of power on our dyno. Using a set of headers without a catalytic converter will surely cause a Check Engine Light which will lead to problems during tech inspection and may disqualify you from the racing series you’re in. The secret to the Shark Injector Race software is that it 'turns down' the readings from the rear O2 sensors to eliminate codes for 'cat-inefficiency'. The DME will then rely on the front pair of O2 sensors and the stock EGT sensor only.

    This Shark Injector also includes Conforti Performance Software for a substantial boost in power and torque! The stock software is a little restrained and Conforti reengineers it to be more aggressive. He tunes his products on the dyno where real power and torque gains can be established. This software also includes:

    • 8100 RPM rev limit (8600 RPM available)

    Standard Performance Software - The car's Sport and DSC functions remain the same as stock but all of the other Shark Injector benefits (more horsepower and torque, smoother engine, quicker throttle response) are added.     E46 M3 SCCA T2 RACE Shark Injector
    This software was developed on the dyno specifically for the 2001-2006 E46 M3 competing in SCCA's National T2 Class, which was later reclassified to the T3 class at the beginning of the 2013 season. Like our standard M3's Shark Injector software it removes the top speed limiter, increases horsepower (optimizes ignition timing, VAN0S and fuel maps for 93 octane gasoline) and is designed for a cat back exhaust. BUT this specific T2/T3 software also increases the rev limiter to 8600 RPM and turns off some of the cars OBD2 systems that could cause the check engine light to illuminate (T2/T3 rules say that the CE light must not be on after the race!) This software is for race use only and is not emissions compliant. Available only with 93 octane settings.

    This software alters the federally-mandated emissions equipment on your car. Because of this, we require a waiver of emissions compliance to be signed and sent in to TMS.     This cable, when combined with any Windows based PC (or Mac running Windows via Bootcamp, VMware, Parallels, etc) and a SOON-TO-BE RELEASED Software Update application allows updates to be applied to the Shark Injector's programming.
