E60 525i/xi 06-07 Stage 1 Turner Motorsport Performance Package   (more info) 2006-2007 E60 525i Stage 1 Performance Package Peak Power Gain: +21hp / +20ft-lbs Rev limit: 7000 Octane: 91 or higher Our Stage 1 kit featuring a cold-air intake kit and matching performance software. The aFe intake is a cone filter with a heat-blocking shield around it. The larger surface area of the filter, combined with the heat shield, allow more cool air to enter the engine - creating more power and torque, a richer engine sound, and better throttle response. The kit is supplied complete with heat shield, intake tube, sealing materials, hardware, and install instructions. Our flash software is tuned especially for a cold-air intake, maximizing the potential and providing smoother power delivery. We take the stock software and make adjustments for 91 octane (stock software is set around 87). We can get more power and torque, and increase fuel efficiency without affecting driveability or the life of the engine. The throttle response is also improved (quicker) eliminating unwanted and dangerous flat spots in the pedal response. Since the 525's N52 engine was de-tuned from the factory, the software and intake are among the essential items for easily getting that power added back. Both of these items are packaged and work together. They provide a solid performance boost with a built-in package discount. For an excellent 'bang for the buck' upgrade, the software and intake are a great choice. If you're also adding the intake manifold from the 330/530 we can customize the software tune for that as well. The software is performed via a 'flash' of the car's computer. These produce a large amount of restriction, robbing your V10 of precious torque. To counter-act this, our kit replaces these restrictive front cats with Supersprint's celebrated stainless steel tubular headers with a section of sport catalytic converters. This set unleashes big horsepower! To make this all work, our Stage II software (a reflash of your engine computer) is included. Stalling? Sputtering? These are all symptoms of poor fuel delivery or a vacuum leak in your intake system. The idle control valve is one of the areas that you can check to fix these issues. The ICV is basically a electrically-driven throttle body that regulates the air/fuel mixture at light throttle openings. Over time, the ICV can become gummed up with oil and carbon, resulting in slow or blocked operation. Worst case, the electric motor inside will freeze which will stall the engine. The ICV will typically need to be cleaned or replaced every 100k miles. It can be cleaned with carb cleaner but for seriously dirty or old ICVs you may want to replace the whole unit with a new one. There is also a hard rubber seal between the ICV and the manifold and this should be replaced as well. You may also want to replace the Crankcase Vent Valve as it can also fill up with oil and carbon and replacement can be done at the same time as the ICV. Add a new ICV to your M50 Manifold Upgrade to save time and money!
