This "cat back" exhaust system is manufactured entirely from titanium. One of the most important changes is the incorporation of link pipes in the system. The inclusion of the link pipes increases low to mid-range power while at the same time producing a deeper exhaust note that the original system lacks. Additionally, a pair of resonators are added to eliminate any chance of in-cabin droning. The mounting flanges are made of cast titanium from our in-house foundry and ensure a perfect, leak-free fit.
Moving to the muffler section of our system, we have an optional wireless "dualmode" exhaust flap control. This allows the vehicle to have a more civilized, but deeper than stock sound at low speed. However, when the exhaust flap is opened the muffler is bypassed, creating a deep and sporty sound much more in keeping with the personality of the car.
Two exhaust tail pipe options are available; The first is made completely from titanium while the other is crafted from a carbon fiber composite. The carbon fiber version was developed on the MotoGP Safety Car, which is driven at sustained high speed, to guarantee uncompromised durability.
For the ultimate in weight reduction, tuning potential, and racing sound, we offer stainless steel, catless downpipes. When used in conjunction with the Evolution System, this is virtually the same setup used on the 1M Moto GP Safety Car. The high-flow downpipes do require ECU reprogramming to eliminate the check engine light and for peak power output. They are only for the dedicated track day car or hardcore enthusiasts.

This turbo down pipe for the 135i and 335i is manufactured from 304 stainless steel using all mandrel bent tubing and each pipe is 65mm in diameter resulting in ultra low backpressure, assuring instant turbo spool up for maximum torques and horsepower gains for your 135i or 335i. The results of installing a complete turbo to tail pipe Supersprint system are a phenomenal 26 hp with a torque gain over 20 lb/ft.
The stock down pipes cause a major restriction in the exhaust flow. BMW's solution to deal with the limited space in the engine compartment is to crush the turbo outlet tubes to reduce the size of the tubing. Doing this created undesirable backpressure. For emission purposes the factory also incorporated built-in pre-cats directly after the turbo outlet ports. This make the exhaust gas backpressure rise to extremely high levels at all rpm and engine loads. This design retains excessive heat in the engine and affects performance in a negative way. The design of the Supersprint down pipes takes advantage of even the smallest space available and frees the exhaust gas flow dramatically. The SS pipe cross section (no crushed pipe) remains constant all along the down pipes and the pre-cats are totally eliminated.

A turbo impeller wheel speed is mostly limited by the exhaust back pressure within the system. If one could eliminate some or most of this exhaust back pressure, the turbo will spool that much faster and effortlessly resulting in quicker engine revs and increase HP. The Active Autowerke Signature down pipe is designed with the intent to maximize in power. The down pipes are created with the least amount of restrictions possible by utilizing a full 3" piping throughout with the least amount of bends possible, that is impressive when compared to the factory diameter of 2.50". What you will experience is a faster, more responsive engine because the turbo impeller now has the ability to spool that much faster. The end result is more power. For added durability, factory like support braces are also implemented to alleviate stresses upon the turbos. O2 Sensor Bung and plug. This weld-in bung allows an O2 sensor to be screwed into your exhaust system. It's required for custom exhaust systems, and is also useful for air/fuel ratio measurements when dyno testing. A threaded plug is included to cap off when not in use. Bung and cap/plug are both 100% stainless steel. The bung and plug are also available separately (in case you don't need both). Simply choose your option below.

Install Tips
Locate bung as close to engine a possible, without exceeding the maximum operating temperature for the O2 sensor. The suggested location is just down-stream of the merge-collector on each bank of cylinders.
Sensors located after upstream exhaust system leaks or too close to exhaust outlets are susceptible to poor readings or influence of ambient air
O2 Sensors exposed to exhaust gasses with too high amount of un-burnt fuel can lead to misleading readings. A possible lean reading.
Locate sensor/bung 90° to exhaust gas stream.
Locate sensor/bung in tube with a minimum of 10° up angel to prevent liquid build up in sensor element.
Use stainless steel welding wire or rod when installing bung.
Do not have bung plug or a oxygen sensor installed when welding bung in place.
Welding can distort the bung so it is recommended you chase/tap the threads of the bung after welding.
When installing O2 sensor or plug, use an O2 sensor compatible high temperature resistant grease on the threads.
Use tightening torque suggested by O2 senor manufacturer.
With years of experience with dealing with exhaust systems of all kinds, we've found this product to be the BEST at fixing or preventing exhaust leaks. Just apply a light coating of Acousti/seal to pipes, flanges or slip-fit clamps before assembly for a leak free installation. 5 ounce tube (142 grams).
