    Akrapovic Evolution Stainless Steel Exhaust System - R56 MINI Cooper S 2006+   (more info)
    The Mini is considered a car that always brings a smile to ones face with its playful look and particularly its position on the road, which is reminiscent of driving a go-kart. The engineers from Akrapovic prepared solutions for the little devil that further increase the performance of the Mini Cooper S and the Cooper S Cabrio as well make it sound even more appealing. Just by looking at the rear, we can see that it’s an Akrapovic – namely, the rear boasts a dual exhaust system outlet of a larger diameter, shaped like racing exhausts. The homologated stainless steel aftermarket Evolution exhaust system with an integrated resonator and end muffler is equipped with adjustable tail pipes made of titanium or carbon fiber. The most demanding customers can also upgrade the Evolution exhaust system by using a down pipe with catalyst.

    The Akrapovic exhaust system also improves sound characteristic, reduces drone and vibrations and makes driving even more enjoyable. The Evolution system, with the optional down pipe, greatly improves the motor’s performance at all revolutions, which is evident from the performance chart. The system offers an additional 7,6 HP and 7 Nm. Additionally, improvements to weight are not negligible, since the Akrapovic exhaust system, made of stainless steel, together with the optional down pipe, weights 3,67 kilograms less than a stock exhaust system.     Borla Cat-Back Exhaust - MINI Cooper S 2004-2006 (Standard/Quiet Version)   (more info)
    100% stainless system for the MINI Cooper S 2004-2005 that bolts to the stock exhaust after the catalytic converter. Twin round tips fill out the rear valence perfectly with no rubbing. This is the Street system that is quieter than the Borla Race system. The Street system uses two large rear mufflers that are freer-flowing than the stock units. This produces a throaty exhaust note at lower RPM that fades as revs rise. It is more civilized than the Race system. The Street system saves about 10lbs from the stock exhaust. After extensive runs on our Dynapack dynomometer the Borla came out better than all others: a gain of 6-7 hp and a small torque increase. Power increases at lower rpm but starts to make significant gains starting at 3700 rpm.

    O2 Sensor Bung and Plug   (more info)
    Made in the USAO2 Sensor Bung and plug. This weld-in bung allows an O2 sensor to be screwed into your exhaust system. It's required for custom exhaust systems, and is also useful for air/fuel ratio measurements when dyno testing. A threaded plug is included to cap off when not in use. Bung and cap/plug are both 100% stainless steel. The bung and plug are also available separately (in case you don't need both). Simply choose your option below.

       Install Tips
    • Locate bung as close to engine a possible, without exceeding the maximum operating temperature for the O2 sensor. The suggested location is just down-stream of the merge-collector on each bank of cylinders.
    • Sensors located after upstream exhaust system leaks or too close to exhaust outlets are susceptible to poor readings or influence of ambient air
    • O2 Sensors exposed to exhaust gasses with too high amount of un-burnt fuel can lead to misleading readings. A possible lean reading.
    • Locate sensor/bung 90° to exhaust gas stream.
    • Locate sensor/bung in tube with a minimum of 10° up angel to prevent liquid build up in sensor element.
    • Use stainless steel welding wire or rod when installing bung.
    • Do not have bung plug or a oxygen sensor installed when welding bung in place.
    • Welding can distort the bung so it is recommended you chase/tap the threads of the bung after welding.
    • When installing O2 sensor or plug, use an O2 sensor compatible high temperature resistant grease on the threads.
    • Use tightening torque suggested by O2 senor manufacturer.
