    Tensioner Pulley for Main Drive Belt (Water Pump/Alternator/Power Steering)   (more info)
    This is the tensioner pulley, also known as the adjusting pulley and lower pulley. This pulley is mounted on the belt tensioner near the center of the belt assembly. The upper and lower pulleys are known to be the primary sources for 'belt squealing'. This pulley is also encased in rubber which will crack over time. If left without service the rubber could fail completely, chucking the belt and leaving you stranded. Replacement is a very simple procedure and can be done anytime the fan is off the engine (belt replacement, water pump service, alternator replacement, etc).

    This pulley is mounted along with the hydraulic or mechanical belt tensioner but can be replaced on its own. It is used for the main drive belt on the M50-family engines (M50, M50TU, M52, S52, M52TU, M54, M56, and S54 engines). This is the same belt that covers the water pump/alternator/power steering systems. Replacement is a very easy procedure (requires fan removal) and will have your engine purring in no time. Belt replacement is strongly recommended at the same time.

    For the US E36 M3. Schrick 264/256 degree camshafts boost mid-high end power for that extra motivation at higher rpm. Low-end torque is not seriously affected due to the M50/M52s VANOS System. And, higher profile cams work extremely well with an upgraded intake and exhaust. When upgrading the cams there are other areas you must take into consideration. Higher-flow fuel injectors, larger mass-air sensor, and custom programming are strongly recommended. Turner Motorsport sells complete intake & cam packages that boost power to over 290hp.     Schrick Camshaft Set (280/272) - S54 engine - E46 M3, MZ3, MZ4   (more info)
    These proved to be an excellent upgrade on our project M3. Smooth as stock idle with a linear increase in horsepower from midrange all the way to redline, Peak gain was +15 HP. There was no loss in low end torque. The Duration of the intake cam is 280 and the exhaust is 272 with 11.6mm lift. These are the new "cast" cams from Schrick they require new rocker arms BMW part # 11 33 7 833 259. Professional installation is a must due to the intricacies with the double vanos.

    Schrick Solid Lifter Conversion Kit (convert hydraulic lifters to solid lifters)   (more info)
    One major hurdle for a track-only car is the limitation of the hydraulic valve lifters in the M50, S50-US, M52, S52-US, M52TU, and M54 engines. These effectively limit your revs to 7200-7300 RPM as the valves 'float' at higher revs, leading to piston-valve contact. By converting to a machined solid lifter, and upgrading other areas of the engine, you can configure the valve train to withstand high RPM running. Not only can you tune for more power, you can help prevent damage during a mild mechanical over-rev.

    This kit includes the mechanical spacers to convert hydraulic lifter tappets to solid lifters (like that of the S54 engine). The lifter bucket remains in place with the Schrick solid tappet replacing the original. These work on all M50, M52, S50, S52 and M54 engines and were proven in normally aspirated as well as supercharged engines. A custom camshaft is required.

    Professional installation and setup is mandatory as these require complete assembly of the head, checking valve lash, then dis-assembly and machining of the Schrick tappet to spec. This kit includes enough spacers for 24 valves. We also carry individual parts, if you are looking for single pieces. This price is for a full set of 24.

    When installing an aftermarket camshafts into a M52TU, M54 engine you need to remove the helix from the stock camshafts and install it on the new camshafts. But the helix does need to be installed with the proper orientation. The proper helix to camshaft placement is important for timing.     Virtually every top professional BMW engine builder relies on ARP Pro Series head studs, particularly on the S54 3.2 liter engine. ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated far superior to "aircraft" quality. Each stud is heat-treated to 200,000 psi, ensuring complete heat penetration. ARP studs are threaded after heat-treat, which gives them 1000% (that's ten times!) better fatigue strength than studs threaded prior to heat-treat. Threading the studs after heat-treating is more difficult and costly (as it's harder on tooling) but the results are well worth the effort. These simply are the best S54 head studs we've found for the E46 M3 6 cylinder engines, and we highly recommend them in both the racing and forced induction arena. (Due to the additional clamping force between the head and block, these are IDEAL for turbo charging and supercharging!)

    Converting from the factory BMW head bolts to head studs makes it much easier to assemble an engine, especially a racing powerplant which must be serviced frequently (and quickly!), and also ensures proper alignment of the head and gasket. Head studs also provide more accurate and consistent torque loading. Here's why: When you use bolts to secure the head, the fastener is actually being "twisted" while it's being torqued to the proper reading. Accordingly, the bolt is reacting to two different forces simultaneously. A head stud should be installed in a "relaxed" mode -- never crank it in tightly using a jammed nut. If everything is right, the stud should be installed finger tight. Then, when applying torque to the nut, the stud will stretch only on the vertical axis. An information sheet is provided with each set. Kit includes everything pictured -- 14 head bolts, washers, bolts and assembly lubricant.

    Sensor for: Exhaust. One weak point on BMW engines for years has been the cam position reference sensor. On the S54 engine in the E46 M3, M Roadster, and Z4M, there is one sensor for each cam. The sensor tells the computer the position of the cam on cylinder #1. The computer relies on the sensor's information to set injection timing and VANOS control. When a sensor goes bad, the computer loses track of what position the cam is in. While the engine will continue to run (taking its measurements from the crank position sensor), the entire system is thrown off. The engine may stumble or run rough, but not misfire, and there will be a loss of performance.

    Each cam sensor also doubles as a sensor for the VANOS. So when the sensor goes bad, the VANOS will revert to a safe mode and will not advance.

    While the engine will still run with a faulty cam position sensor, it's not running in its finest tune. The DME will have fault codes related to the cam sensor or for the VANOS. This is the Original BMW sensor with a new o-ring.

    This is a common failure item which can cause a check engine light, and rough engine running on the M52/S52 engines (328, M3, 528 thru 98, Z3 2.8, & M Roadster/Coupe thru 2000). If you have received an engine fault code suggesting "cam shaft reference sensor" or similar, this is most likely the cuprit. Once replaced, you will need to clear the fault code. We recommend replacing the cam position sensor o-ring at the same time.

    Oil Pressure Switch (fits most BMWs)   (more info)
    Having your oil pressure light come on can mean very serious problems. Or it could just be this switch that fails several times over a car's lifespan. By no means should you ignore the warning light but replacing this sensor could be the actual culprit. The other problem with this switch is that oil can leak past its seal.     This relay is used for the SMG system on the E46 M3 and various applications including secondary air systems on other BMW's. If you find that your SMG-equipped E46 M3 is not starting, this is one of the first places to check as it controls power to the hydraulic unit (the car will not start without hydraulics).     Oil leak on the E46 M3? The constant pressure valve, or oil pressure relief valve, is the most likely reason. This screw valve, located on the exhaust side of the engine block, has a steel o-ring that becomes flat over time, allowing oil to leak around it and down the back of your engine, transmission, undertray, and eventually to your driveway. If you see an oil leak around your transmission and think it's the rear main seal or from the oil pan, try replacing this first. Replacement is the only remedy as the washer on the screw has deformed in shape. The constant pressure valve helps to keep oil up in the cylinder head so you want a direct replacement part - not an aftermarket 'solution'. This is an Original BMW part. One required.

    Idle Control Valve - M50, M52, M52TU, M54   (more info)
    Rough or hunting idle? Stalling? Sputtering? These are all symptoms of poor fuel delivery or a vacuum leak in your intake system. The idle control valve is one of the areas that you can check to fix these issues. The ICV is basically a electrically-driven throttle body that regulates the air/fuel mixture at light throttle openings. Over time, the ICV can become gummed up with oil and carbon, resulting in slow or blocked operation. Worst case, the electric motor inside will freeze which will stall the engine.

    The ICV will typically need to be cleaned or replaced every 100k miles. It can be cleaned with carb cleaner but for seriously dirty or old ICVs you may want to replace the whole unit with a new one. There is also a hard rubber seal between the ICV and the manifold and this should be replaced as well. You may also want to replace the Crankcase Vent Valve as it can also fill up with oil and carbon and replacement can be done at the same time as the ICV.

    The 24 LB Bosch blue-top injector is used in many high performance vehicles which require a good amount of fuel. This fuel injector is most commonly used on Ford Mustangs, and other domestic V8's, which require a healthy amount of fuel. This is a genuine Bosch fuel injector, Bosch part number 0-280-150-947 / Ford Motorsport part # F1TE-D5A. Sold individually, so be sure to order enough for your application.

    We use this particular Bosch injector on modified E36 M3 BMWs, which require more fuel to balance the air/fuel ratio after adding modifications such as cold air intake, cams, headers, etc. During our own testing we found the stock BMW injectors reach their limits with only a few modifications (intake, HFM, and basic chip). Anything more than these basic upgrades and you will need larger injectors. In the packages and kits we have developed we found the 24# pound fuel injector to be ideal – not too large and not too small. With the correct software you can run your engine without fear of the mixture being too lean. This is the fuel injector we use in our 3.2 OBD-II kits as well as in our 3.0/3.2 OBD-I systems. This injector, and the software we have developed when using them, are designed for the E36 M3 BMWs only (We have not seen a reason to use them on a E36 325 or 328).

    Set of 12 ProSeries connecting rod bolts, made by ARP -- the world leader in fastener technology. Each bolt is made of ARP2000 material, which exceeds the strength of 8740 Chrome Moly, and is able to achieve clamp load at 220,000psi. ARP2000 fasteners are used widely in motorsport and drag racing as an upgrade from 8740 Chrome Moly in both steel and aluminum rods. These are simply the best connecting rod bolts available, making them ideal for ultra high performance, racing and forced induction applications.

    This set replaces the factory BMW rod bolt number 11-24-1-739-728 (11241739728) which measures 44mm in length. The 44mm BMW rod bolt was used on all US spec E36 M3 (3.0 and 3.2 liter), 1999-2000 E46 323i/323Ci, 2001-2005 325i/325Ci, Z3 1.9,2.5 and 3.2, as well as Z4 2.5. It was also used on SOME of the M50 2.5 liter engines from 1992-1995 -- but check before ordering! Opened ARP bolt kits are not returnable.     This ARP main stud set for the 24 valves M50-based 6 cylinder engines (including M50, M52, S50US and S52US) and eliminates main cap walk and fretting, as well as protects the threads in your engine block. Each stud is made using the best materials, process, design and engineering, which exceeds even the most stringent racing and aerospace specifications. This main stud kit includes hardened parallel-ground washers and aerospace quality nuts. Replaces BMW part numbers 11-11-1-713-525 (11111713525) and 11-11-2-244-286 (11112244286).

    This Genuine BMW Motorsport oil pan baffle kit is designed for use on all M54 dual vanos engines. Once installed, this kit makes your oil pan completely baffled to prevent oil starvation. The kit also includes parts to address a common issue that can cause the oil pump shaft to shear off (this spells certain doom, when it happens!).     Thermostat With O-Rings - E46 M3   (more info)
    Replacement stock thermostat for E46 M3, Z3M w S54 engine, Z4M. The thermostat can be replaced on the E46 M3 without removing the water pump. This can save you money if the pump still has life left on it but the thermostat needs to be done now. Symptoms of a bad thermostat include an erratic temp gauge and a fault code. When replacing the thermostat, there are three o-rings that will likely need to be replaced – between the thermostat and the water pump housing, and two on the coolant tube going to the head. We also recommend new hoses, clamps, and BMW coolant. Replacement should take about one hour.

    Note: even though this can be done without replacing the water pump, the job involves removing the same items to access this area. And opening the thermostat housing will spill a lot of coolant. In other words, if you don't replace the water pump at the same time, you're going to repeat this process all over again when the pump needs replacing. We offer a complete overhaul package that covers everything you need if you want to it all at once.

We do not believe it is safe to change the crankshaft pulley due to the potential harm to the crankshaft.     TMS E46 M3 Racing Pulley is designed to achieve three goals: gain horsepower, reduce alternator and power steering pump wear, and lower power steering fluid temperatures.     The S54 engine uses BMW's VANOS variable-valve timing mechanism. There is a filter inside the oil pressure valve that prevents contaminents from lodging in the system. Replacing or cleaning the filter is simple insurance to prevent VANOS failure. And a clean filter allows oil to pass unobstructed, meaning more efficient VANOS operation. This tiny filter slips on the end of the oil pressure valve, located on the side of the VANOS unit. Replacement is a simple procedure with new o-rings included.

    Vanos Unit with Solenoid - Rebuilt - S54 - E46 M3, Z3M, Z4M   (more info)
    The E46 M3, the Z3 M Coupe/Roadster and the E85/86 MZ4 Coupe/Roadster all came equipped with the S54 engine which was a much more complex engine than the earlier US Spec M3 had. The vanos on the S54 also evolved into a more complex unit and has it's own set of inherent problems that many S54 owners will run into eventually. The S54 Vanos controls both the intake and exhaust camshafts to improve performance, torque, idle characteristics and emissions. A high pressure (1200psi) control system is used to ensure responsive and accurate camshaft adjustments required by the high performance M engine. The back of the vanos houses a radial oil pump to produce the 1200psi of oil pressure. This pump is mechanically driven by a hub on the exhaust camshaft, which is one of the common failure points on this engine. The vanos also uses 4 solenoids which are attahed to the bottom of the unit in a non-rebuildable aluminum case. These solenoids are very sensitive to oil pressure and can easily become clogged or damaged over time due to contaminates in the oil. We highly recommend changing the oil every 5000 miles and only using the BMW 10w60 High Performance oil to prolong the life of the vanos. Typically the S54 vanos does not exhibit the common diesel rattle under normal operation. If you notice that your engine has suddenly become noisy we recommomend that the car not be driven any more than necessary until the source of the noise can be determined. This S54 vanos comes fully rebuilt with brand new solenoids and solenoid valves. This is the exact same package the dealers sells, but at half the cost.

Your car overheats immediately. This water pump is an updated one with a metal impeller.     Water Pump Pulley - E46 E39 Z3   (more info)
    This is the stock water pump pulley that mounts between the engine fan and the water pump. We have seen these plastic or composite pulleys crack around the mounting bolt holes. If left un-noticed the whole pulley can fall apart which will immediately disable the car and possibly leave you stranded. It can also break while performing other work around it such as removing the fan, replacing the water pump, or even just replacing the belt. Replacing this pulley while doing the water pump can be a good preventative measure.
