We sell complete brake packages that include everything you would need in a typical brake overhaul. These are the typical wear items that need to be replaced - front and rear brake pads, rotors, brake wear sensors, brake fluid, and the rotor retaining screws. This is one of our best-selling products - unbeatable value in a convenient and discounted package! We also offer the factory BMW Performance, M Sport, and "CSL" brake upgrade kits using larger rotors and Brembo calipers. These are a great factory upgrade to stock brakes in performance and looks. We also recommend installing stainless steel brake lines for improved stopping performance during aggressive driving.

With our packages you don't need to bring your car to the dealer for expensive brake replacements. Our kit uses high quality components that meet or exceed the factory parts. We use OEM suppliers and performance alternatives to offer the same parts that the dealer does but at a substantial discount. And we've improved on the factory parts in many areas, such as braking performance, reducing dust residue, and braking feel.

Included in most of our brake packages:
Pads: our equal or surpass the factory pads in performance, dust output, feel, and longevity
Rotors: choose from OEM replacement rotors or Turner or StopTech performance upgrade rotors
Rotor Hardware: small screws that hold the rotor in place when the wheel is off the car
Pad Wear Sensors: these sensors warn you when pads are due for replacement. If your brake light is on in the dash, these sensors need to be replaced.
Brake Fluid: choose from DOT4 performance brake fluid that surpasses OE standards - Ate DOT4, low-viscosity, or Motul high-performance fluid.

BMWs are built with a wear indicator for the front and rear brake pads. When the pad wears to a certain point, the metal of the brake rotor will contact the sensor and trip the [BRAKE] light on your dash. This is an indication that your pads are low and need to be replacement soon. It's impossible to know exactly how many miles are left so have a shop inspect the pads and make recommendations for additional brake work to have done. Remember that if the dash light comes on then the sensor needs to be replaced in addition to the pads. Most BMWs have one sensor in the front (left-front) and one in the rear (right rear) since pads are replaced in axle sets only.

Similarly to brake pads, the brake rotors can be matched to specific driving conditions and intended use. For solely street use the design and characteristics particular to each rotor are not big factors in overall braking performance. For instance, a cross-drilled rotor will not significantly improve braking under street conditions. Improved stopping performance will come mostly from your brake pads. Some rotor designs perform better under racing conditions with racing pads but, generally, all rotor types can be used on the street. For race track use we typically recommend a slotted or blank stock rotor. Any 2-piece floating rotor is superior to anything else and those are our first recommendation when available. For more information on the brake rotors we sell, check out our rotor buying guide.

All of these rotors are manufactured to meet BMW's specs for each vehicle application. Our standard rotors are sourced from original manufacturers for BMW (OEM), performance alternatives, or straight from BMW themselves. In some cases BMW Motorsport and BMW Performance will have their own rotor upgrades. Our Cross-Drilled, Slotted, and Drilled+Slotted rotors are manufacturered by StopTech - a global leader in braking technology and the braking technical partner to the Turner Motorsport racing team.

Even the average BMW enthusiast can quickly exceed the stock brake's performance threshold. Factor in increased horsepower, better suspensions, stickier tires, and multiple high speed stops any stock braking system will show its shortcomings. Stock brakes were designed to be used in day-to-day traffic with light pedal pressure and stops from low speeds. They are absolutely unsuitable for regular hard use, either on the street or a racetrack.

Upgrading pads is only the first step - it works for most people who do not regularly push their cars to the absolute limit. But all cars capable of serious speeds should have serious brakes. The real key to better brakes is heat management and bigger is better. Brake rotors act as heat banks - a larger rotor simply has more capacity to store heat. StopTech has also designed their discs with better internal cooling vanes to dissipate the heat faster. Combined with aluminum calipers and rotor hats, this all combines to prevent heat from being trapped and soaking into the components. If not sufficiently released, heat soak will eventually reach into the brake fluid, causing more serious and immediate braking issues. Their engineeering and expertise is why you will find StopTech Brakes on our Turner Motorsport racecars and has led them to Tier 1 OEM status (a direct supplier to several vehicle manufacturers), four industry patents, and TUV and ISO/TS Quality Management System certification for brake systems and components. StopTech Brakes are among the best in the world for performance and racing braking systems. Made in the USA.

Stainless brake lines are a must for any track driven BMW and make a great upgrade on street cars as well. Brake lines should be replaced every few years anyway and braided stainless lines offer an additional layer of protection. Rubber brake lines deteriorate from the outside and inside. The external rubber can become stiff, crack, or get damaged by debris. The stainless braiding and Teflon inner coating help protect the outside of the line from debris. And with a stronger material the line will not expand or swell under extreme braking conditions. Stainless brake lines provide a firmer positive pedal feel under hard braking by greatly reducing the expansion that can be found in stock rubber lines. The internal of old stock rubber lines can become constricted over time even if the exterior looks normal. With a blockage or restriction you can have serious braking issues that often go mis-diagnosed as warped rotors, stuck calipers, or bad ball joints. Make sure you don't overlook your brake lines! All brake lines, rubber or stainless, should be replaced every few years and any time you replace a brake caliper.

These are the highest quality stainless brake lines that meet DOT specs at great prices. Our lines are made with stainless braiding and Teflon inner lines. The fittings are the correct BMW type and sizing and with swaged fittings and an additional rubber boot for protection.

Brake calipers require periodic maintenance just like the rest of your braking system. The number one problem with brake calipers is caused by rust. The caliper and the internal piston are made from cast iron and is prone to rust just like any other ferrous material. Not replacing your brake fluid regularly will lead to water entering or forming in the system and that will rust the calipers and hard brake lines from the inside out. A rusted caliper will cause the piston to seize, creating a stuck caliper, dragging brakes, wheel vibrations, pulling to one side, excessive brake dust and heat, or even a total loss of brake function on that wheel.

We offer brake caliper rebuild kits but sometimes the condition of the inner piston is just not safe to re-use. Unfortunately you really don't know for sure until you have removed the caliper and taken it apart. As a convenience we offer freshly rebuilt calipers. Each caliper is cleaned and sand-blasted to remove surface rust and dirt/grime. The pistons are rebuilt with new seals and dust boots and re-installed into the caliper housing. The caliper you get is ready for a direct replacement on your car! There's no mess from brake fluid leaking everywhere and no fighting to get the piston seals to fit. Replacing the calipers with newly rebuilt units does not take any more signifcant time during a typical brake pad/rotor overhaul. Rebuilt calipers are sold on a core exchange basis so we need your original calipers returned to us.

Brake caliper piston seals are there to maintain brake system pressure and prevent fluid from leaking out from inside the caliper. When a seal goes bad or becomes damaged the brakes lose pressure, leading to a soft brake pedal, sticking caliper, or even a total loss of your brakes. Brake calipers also need periodic rebuilds because the inner piston can seize from rust. With a piston stuck in the retracted position, the brakes are no longer functioning on that wheel. If the caliper is stuck in the extended position it's putting clamping force on your brakes - dragging the brakes, front wheel vibrations, pulling to one side, excessive brake dust and heat, and potentially even a brake pad fire. For cars that see significant track use, regular caliper rebuilds are essential because higher temps lead to rubber seal failures sooner.

Rebuilding your calipers should be part of a regular brake overhaul. The calipers must be removed from the car and disassembled. It's not a particularly difficult job to do but is messy and takes some expertise so that you don't ruin the piston or new seals. Rebuilding calipers is more cost effective than buying replacement calipers. However you service the calipers don't prolong their maintenance until it's too late!

Parking Brakes - also know and emergency brakes, or hand brakes, help to keep your BMW stationary when parking or on an incline. Over time the parking brake shoes tend to wear out making it more difficult to secure the car. We recommend inspecting the parking brake shoes, cables and associated hardware any time rear rotors are replaced.

The brake master cylinder is responsible for distributing fluid from the reservoir to the front and rear brake systems. The fluid reservoir actually sits on top of the master cylinder with hard metal brake lines running out of it. There are a few places where the master cylinder can leak and cause a spongy or soft brake pedal. The inside has several pistons with o-rings and seals that can fail and allow brake fluid to escape. Likewise, the external metal lines also have o-rings where fluid can seep out or let air/moisture in.

On modern cars the ABS system is also tied in with other features and systems. ABS sensors are used for speedometer readings, traction control, stability control, and other components. So when a sensor fails it's not just affecting your braking but cascading through the rest of the car as well. Typically there will be an ABS light on in the dash cluster but the SES/CEL light may also come on which will require a trip to the dealer to have the fault analyzed.

There are other components of the ABS system that are common failure or known weak points - control modules, pressure sensors, and relays. We keep in stock many of the parts that are prone to common failures, allowing you to get safely back on the road in short order.

Plan on tracking your car? Going to be using real track/race pads? You're going to need brake cooling ducts and hose. Brakes create lots of heat and temps can rise to damaging levels. Excessive heat will burn up caliper seals and dust boots, boil brake fluid, lead to rapid pad wear, inconsistent pedal feel, damage rubber boots on suspension ball joints, and other problems. Racing brake pads are designed to work in very specific temperature ranges so to prevent them from exceeding those temps race teams rely on brake cooling ducts, silicone hose, and bumper ducts.

We have designed and produced advanced brake backing plates that fit behind the wheel bearing hub. The backing plates have an inlet duct that directs air to the center of the hub/rotor. From there, cooling vanes in the rotor draw the air through the rotor to cool it. By keeping the rotor cool it won't transfer as much heat through the pads, caliper, and rest of the braking system. Our kits are designed to fit to the hub without having to remove the hub/bearing.
