| Competition Oil Catch Can - 135i, 335i. 535i - N54 engine

This recirculating Competition Catch Can system for the BMW N54 engine. The Competition Catch Can kit is a completely bolt on and emissions compliant hardware package. This performance and longevity enhancing system connects together using in house manufactured billet adapters that simply clip into the existing connections found on the N54 engine. Blowby gasses pass through these adapters into -10 oil and heat resistant lines and through the N54 specific Competition Catch Can which has an important layer of aluminum mesh baffling to aid in the separation of oil and air. Installation is simplified by designing a laser cut bracket and a new N54 specific catch can to fit perfectly giving a stock appearance. Installation and removal for draining is made simple by utilizing a drain plug mounted at the bottom of the can, and 2 easy to remove 4mm allen screws, allowing the can to come off and on in minutes. To check fluid level, a billet dip stick is included for function without taking away from the form of the product by using an unsightly plastic viewing tube. This part is a direct addition to the factory PCV system and installs without any permanent or unsightly modifications to the vehicle.
Function:
The purpose of a catch can system is to collect/vent the blowby vapors inherent as part of the combustion process. The factory setup sucks these oily vapors directly back into the engine exposing them to everything in their path. Removal of these vapors is especially important on direct injection engines. Port injection engines have detergent enhanced fuel passing over the intake ports constantly cleaning off the intake valves. Direct Injection does not allow for this as the injectors spray right into the combustion chamber. Over time these oils harden and cake to the intake valves causing drastically reduced head flow, cold start misfires, greatly increased knock retard and of course a nice expensive bill to clean it all out. In the short term getting these vapors out of the combustion path reduces knock retard by not allowing oil vapor to mix with the air fuel mixture. In addition the free flowing lines allow the engine to rev easily giving a more responsive feel to the engine as a whole.

The TMS Stage 2 Oil Cooler Kit takes the benefits of the factory oil cooler and housing in Stage 1 and adds the TMS-exclusive HTP oil lines. This makes it possible to use the factory oil cooler with a supercharger or a racing alternator pulley. This is possible because the oil lines are routed away from the front of the alternator and alternator pulley. The TMS Stage 2 Oil Cooler Kit uses mostly factory BMW parts to maintain the same clean appearance and performance you would expect if it was installed by the factory. The HTP lines (High Temperature Polymer Braided) oil lines are better than a rubber or stainless steel line. They are non-abrasive, unlike stainless lines, so they won’t cut into power steering or coolant hoses. Our Kit works on all US-spec 6-cylinder E36 BMWs and the MZ3 Roadster/Coupe with the S52 engine. All components included with the TMS Stage 2 Oil Cooler Kit bolt or clip into place with only a slight modification to the alternator cooling tube (only required on particular models). By providing essential hardware with this kit the final result is a hassle-free installation for you, making this an ideal kit for a street/track car. This kit can be fitted to any US spec 6 cylinder E36 BMW, including M3, 325i, 325is, 328i, 328is, and 323is (sedan, coupe and convertible).

For cars with forced induction, turbo, supercharger, or racing alternator pulleys, we recommend our Stage II or Stage III kits, which provide more flexible/universal routing of oil cooler lines, as well as larger oil cooler (Stage III).

This is the same oil cooler that came on the European model M3. With the proper parts, this oil cooler can be fitted to your US spec M3, 325i, 325is, 328i, 328is, or 323is VERY easily. Please note, this item is the oil cooler itself and does not include brackets, lines, or the modified oil filter housing required to install this part on a US spec E36.
To retrofit this oil cooler on a US spec E36 6 cylinder, you will also need our TMS Euro Oil Cooler Bracket kit, the euro oil cooler hoses / lines, and the modified oil filter housing (which has been modified to accept the fittings of the US VANOS oil line). Also the Euro housing has an integrated thermostat to bypass the cooler at lower temps (who needs cold oil when the engine is cold?). The US housing is not setup for any of this as the oil just runs straight into the filter and onto the engine. For these reasons, the European E36 M3 coil filter housing is ideal for just about ANY oil cooler application. This is the same housing as used in our Stage I, Stage II, and Stage III oil cooler kits.
What does TMS do to the E36 M3 Euro Oil Filter housing?
The Euro E36 M3 cars use a different VANOS system and the VANOS oil line is a different size. The banjo bolt on the US car is M14x1.5 thread and the housing is drilled and tapped using a jig on a machine – not by hand – so the outside surface of the flange is smooth and flat to prevent leaks. This allows this filter housing to be used on US spec M3's, as well as any non-M E36 6 cylinder BMW.

NEW, updated design allows for more applications! The TMS Oil Cooler Fitting kit allows much more flexibility in the routing of oil cooler lines. Standard oil coolers utilize “hard lines” which can cause fitment issues for cars with superchargers, Accusumps, or other aftermarket performance parts. Our kit replaces the oil cooler hard lines with two TMS engineered -10 AN fittings, mounting bracket, and O-rings. Flexible braided hoses can then be run to the oil cooler which eliminates routing issues from supercharges, intakes, and other components. The brackets are CNC machined stainless steel and the -10 AN fittings are lightweight aluminum.

This dry sump kit is designed specifically for race applications of the S65 V8 engine, as used on the 2008, 2009, 2010 E9x M3. This is the kit that is used on our own Grand-Am E92 M3s. Dry sumping the engine delivers the most consistent and reliable oil pressure possible (a must for any professional racing or endurance racing team), but it reduces a large a amount of parasitic power loss due to the extremely high efficiency of the pump.

The M54 Racing Motorsport Oil Filter Housing is equipped with fittings for dash-10AN oil cooler lines. As used on our Grand Am Cup 330i's and our World Challenge 325.
This housing is designed to be used with an aftermarket engine management system (MoTeC, Bosch, etc). The port for the stock engine oil temp sensor is deleted from the housing. Because the stock engine temp sensor output is used for VANOS control, we can't recommend this for a street car OR a car that uses original BMW engine management.

Unfortunately, it is also known for oil cooling deficiencies that can reduce horsepower output and potentially compromise engine longevity, especially when driven enthusiastically or when boost is increased. In combination with our TMS AN-10 Oil Line Adaptor Kit (Part # TEN9910200), installing the TMS E36 Stage 2 Oil Cooler Line Upgrade saves you time and money. Unlike factory lines, the TMS E36 Stage 2 Oil Cooler Line Upgrade can work with vehicles equipped with superchargers or racing alternator pulleys. The TMS oil cooler lines now sit safely away from any moving parts like pulleys and serpentine belts. Our lines are made from HTP (High Temperature Polymer Braided), a synthetic line with multiple advantages over rubber or stainless lines.

| Turner Motorsport Oil Temperature Sensor Flange

The TMS Oil Temperature Sensor Flange was designed to get your oil temperature from the best possible location: the sump. There are adapters used to fit temperature sensors on engines in many locations, and both the TMS Engineering department and testing on and off the track have shown that this is the best solution. We accomplish this by removing the factory oil level sensor if equipped or block off plate and using the existing hole and bolt pattern on the oil pan with no modifications. Most factory and aftermarket temperature sensors are located after the oil pump, which does not give you an accurate temperature reading of the oil that is actually lubricating the engine. At the stock location the sensor picks up heat not only from the oil stream, but also from the oil pump and housing which will skew the reading. By relocating the sensor it also reduces clutter and sits flush against the bottom of the oil pan to avoid potential clearance issues. Any sensor with an M12 x 1.50mm thread can be used.
