TURNER MOTORSPORT DEFENDING CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD AT FINALE
2004 Grand Am Cup Championship Comes Down To The Wire

CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY, FONTANA, CA - October 29, 2004 - The Turner Motorsport Grand Am Cup team is in California this weekend trying to nail down a second championship in 2004. Will Turner and Don Salama currently sit in first place in the overall points standings. The race on California Speedway’s 2.8-mile road course will be the final round of the Grand Am Cup season.

Turner and Salama have teamed up for seven top five finishes in nine races this year. Their consistency has brought them to the forefront of the ST class field; they have finished in the top ten in each race with no DNFs for their Turner Motorsport BMW 330i. They lead the ST class by eight points.

Don Salama, Turner Motorsport pilot, car #95: “We’re going to need a little luck here this weekend. The BMW 330i has been strong and consistent all year but this is a track that uses a lot of the NASCAR oval and that favors the more aerodynamic cars. But our 4-door sedan has battled with these sports cars all year and I think we enough to give them a hard time at this track.”

Turner Motorsport clinched their second SPEED Touring Car Driver’s and Manufacturer’s Championship two weeks ago. For much of the 2004 season, Turner Motorsport has led both the Touring Car and Grand Am Cup championships.

Practice sessions will be today at 1:00pm and 3:40pm (Pacific time). Qualifying is scheduled for 11:15am PT on Saturday with the race lined up for 2:00pm PT. It will be a 250-mile/3-hour conclusion to an exciting and close battle for the championship. Every session can be watched live online at http://www.grandamerican.com/Events/Event.asp?ID=23. The SPEED Channel will be broadcasting this race beginning November 7, 2004 at 5:00pm ET.
