TURNER AND SALAMA CONTINUE CHAMPIONSHIP CHARGE
String Of Top Results Keep H&R Springs BMW High Up In The Overall Points

AMESBURY, MA, USA - July 23, 2006 - Will Turner and Don Salama scored their fourth top-five of the season in the last Grand Am Cup race. Their fourth-place at Mid Ohio a few weeks ago further solidified their second-place in the overall Championship.

Driving the #95 H&R Springs/Turner Motorsport BMW 330i in the Street Tuner class, Will Turner qualified on the second row. He kept the 330i on pace until midway through the race when the team elected to take advantage of a caution period and pit for fuel, tires, and a driver change to put Salama behind the wheel.

Don Salama kept the H&R Springs BMW on the lead lap and put in a solid fight to gain ground on the leaders. Even with Salama’s speed and experience, the BMW just didn’t have enough speed to honestly challenge for the lead. The 2.5-hour race only had three caution periods, which did not help the progress. Salama was able to finish in fourth place, putting valuable points in their pocket and maintaining their second-place position in the Street Tuner championship.

Will Turner, pilot and team owner, #95 H&R Springs/Turner Motorsport BMW 330i:
“It has been an interesting year so far, we can’t afford to make a mistake on the track or in the pits so the pressure has been on and the team has been doing a great job backing us up. The cars in the ST class are very tightly matched so a race can go anyone’s way. The BMW is not always the fastest car on the track, which means we have to fight hard – but not too hard because we need to keep accumulating points. It’s a balancing act.”

Will Turner and Don Salama are currently in second place in the overall Grand Am Cup Street Tuner championship. There are four race remaining – Barber Motorsports Park, Trois-Rivieres, Miller Motorsports Park, and a 6-hour endurance race at Virginia International Raceway. The pilots of the #95 BMW are only 34 points out from first place and there are a lot of points still left to be won.

Turner Motorsport will be back in action this coming weekend, July 27-29, at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Barber is a tight 2.3-mile course that promises lots of action. Stay tuned.
