E30 Performance Chips: 1985-1995 Cars

Description:  Our most popular product, hands down! Most of our Performance Chips have been developed by Bosch Motronic tuning expert Jim Conforti, with a few custom-tuned by TMS on our in-house Dynapack chassis dyno. They provide the ultimate in performance! Adding a performance chip to your car is the easiest, most cost effective way of increasing your BMWs performance with NO downsides. TMS performance chips are supplied with detailed instructions and are user installed in about an hour. The performance chip optimizes ignition timing and fuel curves which results in increased horsepower and torque. We have dyno tested these chips and compared it to all the others and found it to provide the most horsepower and usable torque. Must use 91 octane or higher gasoline. All chips are warranted for as long as you own your BMW and also come with a 30 day performance guarantee; if for any reason you are not fully satisfied with the increase in power and overall driveability you can return the chip to TMS for a full refund. CLICK HERE BEFORE ORDERING YOUR CHIP.

TMS has over 210 unique chip files in the 2008 catalog! To download the ALL-NEW 2008 application list of Turner Motorsport Performance Chips, click here (Adobe .pdf file).

Shipping: FREE UPS 2nd Day shipping is included with any TMS chip priced $249.95 or higher shipped within the 48 states. Free shipping done at time of checkout. Please note: Should you opt for Next Day shipping, additional shipping charges will be applied when the order is processed.

Upgrade your TMS chip to any of our custom chips for free if exchanged within six months. After six months the upgrade fee is only $100!

Turner Motorsport (TMS) Chip Trade-in Policy: TMS chips are upgradeable to custom versions for free for the first six months.  After six months, the upgrade fee is $100, applicable for custom chips that are equal or less in value of the original purchase price of the chip being traded in. The upgrade program only applies to the original purchaser of the chip and only applies if the upgrades you are installing were purchased from TMS. If the parts that require a custom chip are sourced elsewhere other than TMS, the upgrade program does not apply.

The 2.7 liter inline-6 is a torquey car, however, performance drops off greatly after 4000 RPM. With a TMS Performance Chip power is boosted at all RPM but most importantly in the upper RPM. The car really feels more alive! This chip was tuned on the dyno to yield as much performance from this engine as possible and still maintain its strength and durability. Jim Conforti tuned the fuel and spark maps to take advantage of 91 octane gasoline. By making the engine more efficient with this fuel, gains in horsepower and torque are achieved as well as making the engine run smoother.
NOTE: your car may have a replacement DME ending in 021. Our chips will work in this replacement computer as long as the existing chip is not soldered.

1987-1991 Adding a TMS Performance Chip gives you the biggest bang for your buck! Jim Conforti tuned these chips on the dyno to boost mid range torque and increase horsepower in the upper RPM range. While not exactly producing V8-levels of torque you will definitely like the power increase across the rev band. The best thing is that there is NO downside to installing a TMS Performance Chip. Turner Motorsport has been in the BMW chip business for close to 10 years and all chips are dyno-tuned to achieve optimum performance and safety. As an added feature, the top speed limiter is removed. Premium 91+ octane fuel is required.

EWS-Delete Chip For Bosch 413 ECU with silver label
325i 328i M3 (E30 E36)
1985-1994 EWS-Delete Chip For Bosch 413 ECU with silver label.

FOR USING AN EWS DME IN A CAR NOT EQUIPPED WITH THE EWS SYSTEM.

A lot of times when building a racecar or doing an engine conversion in an E36 the EWS-II system can get in the way, adding another layer of complexity to the job. Since racecars and engine conversions make up the bulk of our in-house work at TMS, we’ve developed a special chip to eliminate the EWS-II system from the DME. This chip is perfect for someone who bought an EWS-II computer without realizing what the system requires. The chip will de-activate the EWS-II code inside the DME, thereby allowing you to use the car in an engine conversion (E30 owners with M50 engines!), or on a racecar that has the EWS-II removed completely. It also has all of the benefits of the "regular" Conforti Performance Chips -- more horsepower and torque, increased rev limit (7000 rpm), top speed limiter removed, etc. In the past you would have had to track down a non-EWS computer. This chip saves you both time and money.

Performance Chips with Speed Sensor Delete

Pretty much all BMWs use a speed sensor to monitor rpm, ABS and traction control/ASC operation, windshield wiper speed, cruise control and of course the speedometer. In fact, the speed sensor is one of the most vital sensors on the car. The DME relies on the speed sensor signal to set the maximum rpm in each gear. Problems can arise if you have re-wired the car for racing use or with an engine conversion. Some of those problems are:

  1. time-consuming re-wiring of the car during engine conversions or when building a racecar harness
  2. low rev limits in each gear
  3. installation of data-acquisition systems no longer use the speed sensor signal
What we have done is remove the lines of code in the chip that require the speed sensor signal. Instead the DME relies on the specific parameters and data points within the chip itself. The speed sensor itself remains installed in the differential cover since other parts of the car require its signal. This is not a catch-all answer to every problem that crops up with racecars or during a engine conversion. But like the other parts we have developed, it makes the job – and life – a lot easier.

NOTE: the speed sensor is different than the top speed governor. These chips DO remove the top speed governor, like all of our normal Performance Chips, but these chips are intended for people who have no use for the speed sensor signal.

To learn more about the speed sensor and how our chip can help you, click here.

You can add the EWS-delete feature to these chips as well. Because of the different combinations and variables with these chips it is strongly recommended you contact TMS for further info and ordering. Prices start at $299. E36 M3 3.0 and 3.2 Turner Performance Chip for 21.5# Injectors
M3 (E30 E36)
1994-1995 If you have an M3 engine and want to use the 21.5 lb/hr injectors (pink top, stock on the 2.8 M52 and 3.2 S52) we have the perfect chip for you. Instead of changing to the smaller 17lb injectors or upgrading to the full 24lb, you can use the injectors from the stock 3.2 M3. They are in-between 17lb and 24lb, allowing a little more fuel to compensate for intake and/or exhaust upgrades. Perfect for running headers with an intake! There are plenty of surplus 21.5lb injectors out there (we have them too, click here).

It’s usually not necessary to use bigger injectors but this gives you another option in your engine planning. This software covers almost all of the popular bolt-on upgrades, including the larger HFM (Euro or 540). Choose the mods/upgrades from the list below.

Note: we will not be offering this software for use with cams. More aggressive camshafts require the use of the Bosch 24lb injectors. The 21.5lb injectors are maxed out when used with cams.

Options

EWS-delete: required when using the silver 413 ECU in a car that does not have EWS (all chassis manufactured before 12/94)

Speed sensor delete: for an E30 with an M50 engine conversion, the signal from speed sensor does not make it to the DME, causing a low rev limit. We remove the need for the speed sensor signal to reach the DME.
