Alhadeff/Hand pilot the #97 M3 to a win in GS Class while Hopwood/Burrows maintain ST Class Lead

TOOELE, UTAH - September 14, 2007 - TOOELE, UTAH (September 14, 2007) - Turner Motorsport continued their winning ways this past weekend, scoring victory Friday in the Koni Challenge event to be televised on Speed Channel, Sunday, September 23 at 4:00pm. It was Joey Hand and Matt Alhadeff at the helm of the #97 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs/Stoptech Brakes BMW M3 that took a commanding win - the second win in a row for the Turner BMW team and the second win in as many years at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. This win also moves BMW into the lead for the GS Class Manufacturers Point Standings, having put a BMW on the podium for the 10th time in 11 races this season.

Substituting for regular pilots Will Turner and Don Salama, the Alhadeff/Hand combination advanced to the front quickly with Aldadeff moving steadily up the grid before his pitstop. They took advantage of a caution period on lap 12 to change drivers and from there, Hand never lifted off the gas.

    Joey Hand, pilot:
"We all had a great race today. My co-driver did a great job in qualifying and made a blazing start. From there, all I had to do was keep the car pointed in the right direction. We faced a tough challenge from Lally in the Porsche but the Turner team made a great call on fuel strategy - we pulled a lead out of the pits, I just kept my head down and brought it home. I see why the Turner team has had so much success with racing M3’s – This is one of the easiest and best handing BMWs I have ever driven"

This race will be broadcast on The Speed Channel starting September 23rd at 4:00p ET.

Turner Motorsport won the inaugural 2006 event at Miller in both the GS and ST classes. The #96 Turner BMW M3 won the last round of the 2007 Koni Challenge at Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, driven by Chris Gleason and Bill Auberlen.

Gleason and Auberlen, who were fastest in practice in the #96 M3, suffered suspension failure resulting from contact from behind on the first lap and retired early.

Turner Motorsport remains the only team in Grand-Am history to win a race in the GS class with a BMW E46 M3.

In the Street Tuner division, Turner drivers Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood retained their lead in the Championship with a sixth-place finish on Saturday. Burrows qualified the car on the front row, for the 6th time this year.

Having kept the car in the lead pack, Burrows then turned the #95 H&R Springs/Turner Motorsport/Borla Exhaust BMW 330i over to Hopwood during the forty-four lap race’s only yellow flag around the one hour mark. Hopwood was able to rejoin and move back through the order to finish sixth after stopping for a last splash of fuel late in the running.

"I ran out of fuel going into turn one on the cool off lap--when it comes to fuel strategy, this Turner team is the best in the business. The car was so well balanced that we never had to change tires and that helped keep our pit time down. This was a fun track to race on even if it didn’t seem to encourage the best behavior from some of the guys out there. But the car doesn’t have a scratch on it, we finished one spot ahead of Johnson and Thompson which puts us in a good position for the next race - now we’ll focus on trying to wrap this up at VIR.”

The rookie duo will enter the next and final race of the season with a 5 point lead over their trailing championship contenders.

The Turner Motorsport BMW team enjoys the support of some fantastic automotive companies - H&R Springs, StopTech Brakes, Borla Exhaust, Motul Lubricants, Pagid Racing, and Piloti Driving Shoes. Each is a world-renowned champion in their respective fields and their contribution to the Turner Motorsport team is invaluable.
