Turner Motorsport: New Jersey Motorsports Park Preview

Amesbury, Mass. – May 9th, 2012 ---Round Four of the 2012 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series will see Turner Motorsport at New Jersey Motorsport Park, in Millville, New Jersey, this weekend looking to carry the momentum from four top-10 finishes at Homestead-Miami Speedway two weeks ago.

The races at NJMP are important ones as they set the tone for the summer season of racing where the team will see six CTSCC and seven Rolex races before the end of July. With a second double top-10 Grand Sport class finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway on April 28 the team has placed both BMW M3s and all four drivers in the top-10 in Team and Driver CTSCC point standings.

A change to the driver lineup will see defending Grand Sport driver’s champion Paul Dalla Lana without co-driver Bill Auberlen for the first time this season as Auberlen’s work for BMW of North America takes him across the country for another race. Journeymen Brit Ben Clucas will substitute for Auberlen in the No. 96 CTSCC M3. Clucas brings experience in a wide range of racings cars, including four previous CTSCC starts in 2011.

Michael Marsal and Boris Said will co-drive the No. 97 M3 in the Continental race. The duo is currently in a three-way tie for 10th in Driver points with two top-10 finishes to-date this season.

In Rolex competition, Dalla Lana will co-drive the No. 94 M3 with Billy Johnson. Dalla Lana and Auberlen have finished fifth in the GT class in the last two races placing Dalla Lana ninth in GT driver points.

“We showed what our team is capable of at Homestead,” said Will Turner. “Unfortunately, we have been unable to really show what the BMW M3 can do because the balance of performance between all CTSCC manufacturers is not even. Grand-Am has added weight to our chief competitor for the New Jersey race so that is a good start. We wish Bill and Joey good luck in Laguna Seca and welcome Ben to the team.”

Live timing and scoring from practice, qualifying and both races can be found on grand-am.com. The Rolex race will be broadcast live at 1 p.m. ET May 13th on SPEED television. The CTSCC race will be broadcast on SPEED television on May 26th at 2:00 p.m. ET.
