HEARTLAND PARK, TOPEKA, KS - October 17, 2006 - Will Turner put up a strong fight at the SCCA Runoffs championship this past weekend, finishing third in a Turner Motorsport/Toyo Tires BMW M3. It was his sixth podium in the M3 in the T2 class this year. Racers from all over the country gathered at Heartland Park near Topeka, Kansas for the year-end SCCA Club Racing championship.
Turner started the race from the third spot on the grid of 34 cars. He made a run for the lead in the first set of corners but had to lift off the gas to avoid another car spinning off course. This let the Subarus of Chuck Hemmingson and Kristian Skavnes eek by and into the lead. Turner battled with Skavnes for the rest of the race but could not get around the Subaru STi.
Will Turner: I gave it everything the M3 had but the Subarus just have too much of an edge to really make it happen. This was a very successful program for us, however, with two wins and four other podium finishes in this year alone. The car was very, very good all year and it was a lot of fun.
The M3 was built and prepared by Turner Motorsport and features a number of innovative products developed for Club Racing: Toyo Proxes RA-1 tires, TMS T2 Race Springs, TMS/Ohlins T2/Stock Class adjustable shocks, TMS sway bars, TMS carbon-fiber brake duct kits, Shark Injector performance software, TMS/Borla custom racing exhaust, B&M Short Shift Kit, Pagid Brake Pads, and Motul Lubricants. All of the M3s in the T2 class were running Turner Motorsport parts and they work well in other Club Racing classes as well.
