Amesbury, MA. June 21th, 2012 --Turner Motorsport begins official practice today for this weekends Rolex Sports Car and Continental Tire Challenge races at Road America, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. At four miles long Road America is the longest road course in North America and is a favorite of Turner drivers.
The mid-point of the 2012 Grand Am season sees the No. 94 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 moving up in the Rolex GT championship standings following a win at Mid-Ohio two weeks ago and a string of four consecutive top-five finishes before that. Paul Dalla Lana stands fifth in driver points.
In CTSCC competition, both BMW M3s have a seasons-best finish of fourth. Michael Marsal and Boris Said, driving the No. 97 M3, have added two top-10 finishes to their fourth at New Jersey and stand sixth in GS driver points. Paul Dalla Lana and Bill Auberlen, driving the No. 96 M3, had their best result of the season (fourth) at Homestead-Miami Speedway in April and have one additional top-10 finish seventh at the season-opening BMW Performance 200 at Daytona. Dalla Lana stands 10th in driver points.
Our GT win at Mid-Ohio was well-deserved, said Will Turner. We worked very hard for that victory. The rules landscape has changed this season for the BMWs in both GT and GS. With the allowances given to other manufacturers and taken from us we have to work harder and smarter for every place we can before the checkered flag waves. If we can gain some small concessions for the GS cars I believe we will be able to have the Turner and BMW fans on their feet for both the Rolex and Continental races.
Live timing and scoring from practice, qualifying and both races can be found on grand-am.com. The Rolex race will be broadcast live at 12 p.m. ET June 23rd on SPEED television.The CTSCC race will be broadcast on SPEED television on July 8th at 12:00 p.m. ET.
