The engine oil is the blood of the VANOS system. Without a strong flow of oil, the VANOS will ultimately fail. Oiling problems killed a lof of the VANOS units on previous BMW engines. - don't let it happen to your S54. Proper maintenace will avoid a costly repair bill in the future. Replacement VANOS units are over $2500! Replacing the filter or this entire pressure valve is the smart step to take. This is a new oil pressure valve with new seals and a new filter.
