E46 M3 H&R Coil Over Suspension

The H&R Coil Over kit takes the traditional shock/spring package one step further. H&R combines their progressive-rate springs with specially valved shocks and adds height adjusters that let you set the ride height to your own personal tastes. These coil overs are designed for street use with progressive rate springs that start out soft and stiffen as they are compressed. This helps to keep the ride compliant while still giving better handling and balance.

H&R designs each suspension to work as a coil over. This means that the correct amount of travel has been built into each shock. And the shocks are valved specifically for the spring rates to give a tight and controlled ride without being harsh or ultra-stiff. Each H&R coil over is TUV tested and approved and meets ISO quality standards. These are used with the stock strut and shock mounts for a quick and easy install.

    E46 Front Subframe Reinforcement Kit Made in the USA The motor mount area on a subframe is one of those easily-forgotton areas that may be hiding a serious problem. The subframe on the E46 has a gusset ('ear') welded on for the motor mounts. These gussets take the stress of the motor mount as the engine torques (more upgrades = more torque = more stress). Worn motor mounts only transfer more stress to the subframe. Unfortunately, the sheetmetal will fatigue over time even though the gusset is reinforced from the factory. Check for cracks along the welds and an uneven plane from the subframe to the gusset. A total failure of the guesset will shift your engine to the side and forward, taking out many other components along the way and leading to a very costly repair.

    The next time you replace the motor mounts, oil pan gasket, checking your oil pump nut, or any other time you drop the front subframe, you should install these reinforcements. This kit comes with steel reinforcing plates that are welded to the underside of the guesset as well as plates to close off the bottom of the gusset for extra strength. Instructions included.

    19mm 12x1.5 Turner Yellow Zinc-Coated Race Wheel Nut Turner Motorsport’s five years of endurance competition has taught us many things. One was that not all lug-nuts are made the same. While the standard nuts that we sell are great for daily drivers, HPDE events, and club racing, a beefier and more durable nut was needed for the 3-hour, 6-hour, and 24-hour professional endurance races. During the 24 Hours of Daytona, our crew guys made over 80 tire changes in NASCAR-style pitstops. That kind of abuse from air guns and fast work required the "next level" of lug-nut. These nuts are a high-grade steel with a zinc coating and they incorporate several innovative features.

    The wheel-side of the nut has recessed threads so that the nut has to be square to engage the threads. Without the recess, it’s far too easy to start the threads with the nut being crooked.

    The 19mm head of the nut is slightly rounded to help the socket find its position.

    The zinc plating that we use is reasonably durable without being excessive. With too much coating, the chipped and worn coating fragments can end up in the threads, leading to all sorts of trouble. Anyone who has used nuts repeatedly knows that the coating is not going to last forever. The constant abuse from air guns will chip it all away. So why add weight and the potential for disaster with excess coating? We did away with most of the danger from that with a lighter coating that still resists the tough environment of the track.

    E46 M3 Outer CV Boot Housing Rebuild Kit Made in the USA Over the years driving and racing the E46 M3 in Grand-Am racing, club racing, driving school events, and street driving, we have found that the half-shafts need to be rebuilt or replaced often. This is especially true of the outer CV joint (closest to the wheel bearing) due to the high loads on the half shafts and elevated temperature in that region. Thanks to our extensive experience in Grand-Am endurance racing, we have designed a kit to prolong CV joint life and save frequent and costly replacing of half shafts, on both street and track/race cars. The problem with rebuilding E46 half-shafts is that the CV joint ("Constant Velocity Joint") closest to the wheel bearing is not serviceable because a stamped steel housing must be cut off to access the CV joint. The housing cannot be reused, therefore necessitating replacement of the whole half-shaft. We have designed a reusable aluminum housing to make servicing the CV joint possible.

    This is a custom Turner Motorsport item, originally designed for our championship-winning Grand-Am M3s. It can also be used in non-racing applications, for both track and street E46 M3s. If you are performing any work on the rear driveline of your E46 M3 (such as wheel bearings, differential work, bushings, rear sway bar / swaybar, etc) or are prepping for the race season, then now is an excellent time to perform this job as well.

    Rear Camber Arm - E36, E46, Z4 - Group N (Reinforced) Designed and built in-house at BMW Motorsport, these are stock rear camber arms from the E36 M3 that have been strengthened by welding a reinforment in between the wishbones. Stiffer than the stock units and still adjustable for camber. This arm is legal in many racing classes where an aftermarket arm is not permitted. Sold individually, two required per car.

    E36, E46 Rear Shock Tower Mount Reinforcement Kit Made in the USA A very common weak point on the 3 series BMW is the sheetmetal of the rear shock tower. The sheetmetal here is relatively thin and very susceptible to stress and fatigue. A worn out shock will bottom-out more often and this energy is transferred through the bump stop and into the metal chassis. Stiffer shocks and shock mounts also put more stress on the sheetmetal. Factor in age, mileage, and environmental conditions and it's not a surprise that we see shock tower failures often. BMW addressed this issue with reinforcements of their own but our's are thicker for additional strength. This kit mounts on top of the shock tower and can either be bolted or welded in place. Because of the shape of the rear shock tower, these do not fit cabrio/convertible cars.

    E46 Rear Chassis/Subframe Reinforcement Kit The E46 rear driveline and suspension are very similar to that of the E36. An unfortunate side effect of this is that the E46 also shares some of the same problems as the E36. One of these problems is the rear mounting points for the subframe, which can rip out from their spots in the sheet metal. This happens because the rear differential transmits the torsional load from the engine through the subframe, then into the chassis. This constant loading and unloading weakens the sheet metal and causes it to fatigue and separate from the chassis. BMW tried to fix this problem in the E46 by placing a cross member on the front two mounting points of the subframe. This cross member keeps the front mounting points from having problems by placing the bushing and the stud in double-sheer, thus reducing the twisting action on the sheet metal. The unfortunate side effect of this is that the load from the front of the subframe now gets transmitted to the left rear of the subframe. This is where we have seen many failures of the chassis on low mileage street cars and race cars. BMW has also tried to prevent the issue by injecting foam into the open space between the underside of the chassis and the top of the trunk. This seems to work but that does not address the issues of the spot welds failing on the sheetmetal. It can also make any additional work there harder and almost impossible to weld against. Our reinforcement kit has proven over and over again to be effective and the easiest to work with in the long run.

    This product reinforces the chassis sheet metal at the subframe mounting points. We do this by thickening the metal and distributing the load over a larger area. This kit will save time when repairing the chassis, and is also strongly recommended as a preventative maintenance item.

    E36, E46, Z4 Turner Motorsport Camber Arm Reinforcement Kit Made in the USA If you haven't already upgraded to Adjustable Camber Arms , your stock rear lower wishbones are letting your down. The stock rear camber arm/wishbone is designed to be flexible and weak. In an impact, it's designed to bend or even break to absorb energy and prevent damage to other more vital components. This is great on a regular street car. But on a track car, or heavily modified street car, these arms can bend just from cornering forces and that can introduce radical camber changes that will throw off the balance and handling of the car. This reinforcement solves all of that by tying the two sections of the arm together. This creates a single solid arm with minimal flex in the arm itself. Bosch Motorsport and Turner Motorsport have teamed up to offer an affordable, plug-and-play, and fully tunable stand alone ECU system for the E46 M3. The Bosch Motorsport ECU opens the doors for unlimited tuning potential and instant power and reliability benefits over the stock BMW MSS54 ECU. The Bosch Motorsport plug-n-play ECU cuts through all of the hassle and additional work that normally comes with switching to a stand alone management system. It also leapfrogs the factory system in advanced tuning and reliability. This is a must-have system for owners of E46 M3 race and track cars. Pound for pound the factory ECU just doesn't stack up.

    The advantages of the Bosch Motorsport system are ENORMOUS:

    The factory MSS54 ECU is a compromise on multiple levels. It's purpose is NOT to make large amounts of horsepower or allow access to its internal code for changes. There have been great breakthroughs in reverse engineering the stock ECU but the fact remains it was never intended to be a true race ECU. The factory ECU and oxygen sensors are there for controlling emissions and fuel economy. The emphasis is on control - it is in BMW's best interest to lock out changes to the ECU so that the car conforms to emissions and fuel economy standards. While mild tuning for the street is not a problem (such as with our Shark Injector software), the factory ECU will fight major changes every step of the way.

    Our partnership with Bosch Motorsport goes back a long time. When we switched from a full stand alone to the Bosch ECU on our E46 M3 racecars we instantly made more power. When we realized there was a need for a plug-and-play alternative to the stock E46 M3 ECU the Bosch MS4.0 ECU was the first to come to mind. Stand-alone race ECU systems are ideal for making large amounts of reliable power but until now they were too expensive and too complicated. A full stand lone system will cost tens of thousands of dollars and require hours of installation and fabrication work for the sensors, wiring harnesses, communications platforms, and more. Our Bosch Motorsport system gives you all of the control of a stand-alone but works with the existing wiring and sensors in the E46 M3, including the instrument cluster and dash! This is thanks to the special translator interface box that we developed and allows the Bosch ECU to communicate with the stock VAN0S, drive-by-wire, cooling and oil systems, ABS, and more. The Bosch ECU works with the more advanced Bosch LSU4.9 wideband oxygen sensors which replace the two stock pre-cat O2 sensors. We strongly recommend that you replace your spark plugs and ignition coils with the latest BMW part numbers before installing this system. You can be up and running with the complete Bosch system in about an hour! Yes, one hour! Plug in the ECU and translator box and swap the front O2 sensors and you're done. You can revert back to stock just as easily. To get reliable power means removing interference from emissions equipment or OBD oversight and eliminate the possibility of a race-ending limp mode or fault code. The Bosch ECU system eliminates layers of complexity to give you what you really want: power and control.

    Our Bosch ECU system comes pre-installed with a base engine map that closely matches your existing engine spec. We developed multiple tuning maps on our Dynapack chassis dyno using popular bolt-on S54 power upgrades: headers, intakes, cams, superchargers, etc. Straight away our base tune gained 24hp. With headers and cat delete, over 50! Our base supercharger file gained almost 50hp more than the tune that came with the kit! A 3.5L stroker engine gained over 30hp from the best file supplied by the engine builder! We provide you with a base map closely matched with your existing modifications. You then have the ability, if needed, to make adjustments to optimize the output using the Bosch PC software. Unlike the factory ECU there is no limit to the number of flashes you can make on the Bosch ECU.

    Turner Motorsport Rear Trailing Arm Bushing Limiter Kit (RTAB Shim Kit)

    Turner Motorsport Bushing Limiters were the first - and still the best - RTAB Limiter on the market. Instead of a 'floating' design that can rattle and wear, our aluminum Limiters are fixed in place and feature an anti-stick Teflon coating so the bushing never sticks and squeaks.

    The great defect in the rear trailing arm bushing (RTAB) is that the soft rubber design allows too much movement and extension during cornering. The bushing is not strong enough to resist hard cornering loads. A stiffer bushing helps but has trade-offs in ride and comfort. If you want to maintain your ride comfort with rubber bushings, these RTAB Limiters will prolong their life and improve handling.

    These Limiters sit on either side of the bushing and limit its movement. By limiting motion the bushing effectively becomes stiffer, improving handling and reducing toe change during cornering. When not cornering, the Limiters are not in play so ride comfort remains the same as stock. Our Limiters are permanently bolted to the housing that surrounds the bushing. Other types of Limiters 'float' between the bushing and housing, which can rattle and squeak as the bushings move. Instead of plastic or Delrin that will wear over time, our RTAB Limiters are made from aluminum with a tough hardcoat anodize (tougher than standard anodizing) and finished with a Teflon anti-stick coating.
