BMW E90 Suspension Bushings & Mounts

Suspension mounts are designed to absorb the energy of the shocks and springs and isolate road harshness from the chassis. But over time the original rubber mounts will crumble and fail. We have stock mounts and bushings as well as a wide selection of upgraded and heavier-duty for performance street cars. We also offer a full selection of race only bushings and mounts. On the 2008-up E9X M3 the front strut is held in place by this mount or 'guide support'. The mount not only locates the strut to the body of the car, it also contains bearings that allow the strut to move with the steering and travel of the suspension. It's rubber isolated to minimize vibrations and annoying road impacts from reaching the driver.

The problem that we have seen is that the rubber will wear out over time, and will no longer dampen the vibrations and harshness when contacting a bump or pothole. The driver will often feel that the car does not steer as accurately and the ride is harsher. The bearings inside can also wear out, especially when dirt and sand get into the grease. Replacement will keep the steering sharp, and noise, vibration, and harshness from spreading through the chassis. It's also a good idea to replace these any time a new strut or coil over kit is going on the car.

Made in the USA If you're installing a rear shock on your E90 or E92 that utilizes a Spherical Bearing or Rod-End, common in racing shocks/dampers, this is one of the rear mounts needed to attach your shock to the chassis (this is the UPPER mount). Developed for our Grand Am Cup 328i race car, this upper shock mount works on all 2006+ E90/E92 including 325i, 328i, 330i, 335i, & M3.

If there's one big fail point in the E82/E9X front suspension it's the thrust arms. The front inner thrust arm bushing is filled with dampening fluid that leaks over time. Once it's gone the bushing has the strength of a rubber band. Even though we sell two non-fluid bushings (Meyle HD and stock M3) as upgrades there was still room for improvement. For someone looking for superior performance and longevity these sealed monoball bushings are the best out there.

These were originally developed for our IMSA E90 328i and E92 M3 racecars (GS class Champions in 2011). But for this application we chose a sealed monoball with an inner liner to isolate the added noise, vibration, and harshness that a full solid monoball bearing will have. Our monoball thrust arm bushings are more at home on the street than other kits that are advertised as race bushings. We did extensive street, autocross, and track testing to ensure this bushing design excelled in each setting.

The advantage of a monoball bearing is that it will not deflect under load. All of the rubber bushings, including the M3, move in all sorts of directions and that changes your alignment, especially when used with big brake kits or when driven hard. And when worn out, performance suffers. Our monoball sits in a CNC machined aluminum housing which has zero deflection. The monoball allows complete freedom of movement but only at the desired angles. What you get is superior steering precision, better handling from more consistent alignment, and almost infinite bushing life. And thanks to the inner liner and sealed rubber boots there's none of the extra noise or reduced service life of fully solid race bushings.

We strongly advise using these with new control arms. BMW recommends that the bushings be replaced only once per set of control arms. So if your thrust arm bushings have been replaced already then we do not recommend re-using the arms. The other reason is that the aluminum arms stretch over time which will make the bushings loose inside the arm. Other manufacturers recommend filling the stretched arms with paste but replacing the control arm is the better solution. This is also why we prefer the press fit bushing over a bolt-together design. The press fit will allow you to inspect the arm for stretching or defects while the bolt-together bushings do not. We believe our press-fit thrust arm bearings are the best, and safest, design on the market.

We offer these thrust arms with the monoball bushings pre-installed for your convenience. Or the bushings can be purchased separately. Detailed instructions are included but professional assembly and install is required. An alignment is required.

Replacing your struts and shocks? Don't forget the bushings! The rubber mounts for the shocks will go bad over time, especially if you drive hard or the roads are particularly rough. The shock mounts locate the front struts and rear shocks to the car - providing a quiet and vibration-free buffer between the road and the cabin. Shock mounts and bushings can wear out just like any other rubber part on the car. This leads to more noise and harshness reaching the chassis and may complicate your new suspension install. When installing new shocks, that is the perfect time to also replace the mounts. There is no additional time to install them and no special tools are required! If you re-use the original mounts you have the risk of them failing before your next shock replacement, doubling your labor costs.

    New mounts should be installed whenever you are replacing the struts and shocks on your E90 and E92 3-series. The mounts keep the cabin isolated from annoying noises and impacts. Just like any other rubber mount, these will go bad over time, which allows more harshness and vibration to the chassis along with clunking noises. Replace them now to avoid doubling the labor charges down the road. When installing new shocks, that is the perfect time to also replace the mounts.     The subframe is the heart of a BMW's rear suspension. Nearly all of the suspension arms and bushings mount to the chassis through the subframe. So as the suspension deflects forces from the tires, the subframe eventually absorbs them all. Preventing too much deflection and twist in the subframe will keep your handling and alignment consistent. The stock E82 and E90/E92 rear sub-frame mounts are very soft so putting more torque through the car results in a soft or loose (squirrely) feeling in the rear suspension. This set of 4 mounts are from the M3 and are much stiffer.

    These M3 rear subframe bushings are a direct replacement upgrade over the stock mounts. The rear subframe has to come down from the car for these mounts to be pressed in. So now is the perfect time to do other work as well. The time and effort needed to replace them is well worth it, especially on high-horsepower cars (tuned N54, N55, etc).

    A BMWs sub-frame is the heart of the suspension - as the subframe twists and shifts under load all of the suspension mounting points also move. The rear suspension feels loose and lacks precision. As rubber or hydroelastic bushings wear the bushing deflection gets worse. If you have a highly tuned 335i/xi you're putting even more strain on weak bushings. The solution is a stiffer and more durable material. Even BMW has moved to solid mounts on the F10 M5 and F8X M3/M4. These fully solid E82/E90/E92 aluminum mounts have zero deflection - the subframe does not move at all. The rest of the suspension can work as designed and maintain the proper alignment and motion ratios. The driver will notice the difference as the car is more stable and the handling is more precise.

    Although we designed these for use in our racecars, they can work on the street so long as the driver can tolerate some additional noise, vibration, and harshness. These mounts are CNC machined in the USA and made with high-grade aluminum. The set is for all four subframe mounts.

    New mounts should be installed whenever you are replacing the struts and shocks on your E90 and E92 3-series. The mounts keep the cabin isolated from annoying noises and impacts.     Made in the USA These E90/E92 M3 solid rear sub-frame mounts are designed around Grand-Am, BMW CCA, and other series' regulations where a solid metal mount cannot be used. These are derived from, and currently used in our own Turner E92 M3 racecars. Thick Delrin casings are used as the non-metallic solid bushing. High quality aluminum sleeves, with increased surface area, are then pressed into each of the casings with washers integrated into each one. The washers are employed to add an extra safety factor for securing the sub-frame into position.

    The E9x M3 rear sub-frame is the heart of its suspension, and we have found with a short amount of track time the stock bushings will start to degrade. When the M3 sub-frame moves, so do all the suspension mounting points. Replacing the stock rubber bushings limits drivetrain and suspension movement, and keeps your M3's setup the way it's supposed to be. These bushings are CNC machined in the USA and made with high-grade materials.

    If there's one big fail point in the E82/E9X front suspension it's the thrust arms. The front inner thrust arm bushing is filled with dampening fluid that leaks over time. Once it's gone the bushing has the strength of a rubber band. Even though we sell two non-fluid bushings (Meyle HD and stock M3) as upgrades there was still room for improvement. For someone looking for superior performance and longevity these sealed monoball bushings are the best out there.

    These were originally developed for our IMSA E90 328i and E92 M3 racecars (GS class Champions in 2011). But for this application we chose a sealed monoball with an inner liner to isolate the added noise, vibration, and harshness that a full solid monoball bearing will have. Our monoball thrust arm bushings are more at home on the street than other kits that are advertised as race bushings. We did extensive street, autocross, and track testing to ensure this bushing design excelled in each setting.

    The advantage of a monoball bearing is that it will not deflect under load. All of the rubber bushings, including the M3, move in all sorts of directions and that changes your alignment, especially when used with big brake kits or when driven hard. And when worn out, performance suffers. Our monoball sits in a CNC machined aluminum housing which has zero deflection. The monoball allows complete freedom of movement but only at the desired angles. What you get is superior steering precision, better handling from more consistent alignment, and almost infinite bushing life. And thanks to the inner liner and sealed rubber boots there's none of the extra noise or reduced service life of fully solid race bushings.

    We strongly advise using these with new control arms. BMW recommends that the bushings be replaced only once per set of control arms. So if your thrust arm bushings have been replaced already then we do not recommend re-using the arms. The other reason is that the aluminum arms stretch over time which will make the bushings loose inside the arm. Other manufacturers recommend filling the stretched arms with paste but replacing the control arm is the better solution. This is also why we prefer the press fit bushing over a bolt-together design. The press fit will allow you to inspect the arm for stretching or defects while the bolt-together bushings do not. We believe our press-fit thrust arm bearings are the best, and safest, design on the market.

    We offer these thrust arms with the monoball bushings pre-installed for your convenience. Or the bushings can be purchased separately. Detailed instructions are included but professional assembly and install is required. An alignment is required.

    These spacer bushings sit on either side of the lower shock mount on E9X M3 and E82 1M race shocks. Some race shocks do not include these spacers and they are obviously required for installation. We also designed these bushings to fit snug in the "cradle" on the M3 control arm (universal type bushings are not designed for the cradle). These bushings sit on either side of the spherical bearing at the bottom of the race shock. They properly located the shock within the M3 control arm. We made these spacers in two sizes to accomodate the two most popular sizes of bearings in the lower shock.

    Kit comes with four spacer bushings (enough for two rear shocks) and two new Grade 10.9 bolts.

    If you're installing a rear shock on your E90 or E92 that utilizes a Spherical Bearing or Rod-End, common in racing shocks/dampers, this is one of the rear mounts needed to attach your shock to the camber arm (this is the LOWER mount).     These BMW Motorsport Group N Bushings replace all of the bushings on the factory toe control arm (also known as the track strut). These inner and outer bushings feature a heavy duty rubber that is stiffer than stock. The stiffer bushing reduces deflection and twist in the arm, leading to more stable handling and faster response in the suspension. These bushings are great for track use and legal for some racing classes yet can also be used on a street driven car where extra ride harshness can be tolerated.

    These are the stock replacement front control arm bushings (FCAB) for the E82 1M and E9X M3 models. These solid rubber bushings replace the inner bushing on the front upper control arm, also known as the thrust arm or tension stut (it's the arm with the outer ball joint pointing down). These are the OEM bushings with a metal sleeve insert for precise but comfortable steering feel and response. A direct replacement for the E90/E92/E93 M3 and E82 1M. Professional installation recommended since these bushings need to be 'compressed' while they are being pressed in.

    This can also be used as an upgrade on non-M E82, E9X, and E89 Z4 models. The solid rubber of the M3 is a better and longer-lasting bushing than the fluid-filled stock E90 bushing. These M3 bushings are a bit stiffer than the original design so the steering and handling will be sharper while maintaining M3-levels of ride comfort.

    This package of OEM E82 E90 E92 diff mounts replaces the stock rubber diff bushings. On a tuned 335i you may have noticed more driveline shudder or problems hooking up during hard launches. What happens is the stock rubber bushings are under constant flex as engine torque is transmitted through the differential. Under normal driving with a stock car the bushings are rarely stressed. But factor in significant additional torque from a tuned N54/N55 and the stock rubber will quickly show its weaknesses. You may have even broken a diff bolt or two as the heavy differential shifts around. Even non-turbo E82 and E9X models may benefit from fresh bushings.

    This is a set of stock rubber bushings, made by OEM supplier Lemforder. They are the same as the Genuine BMW E9X diff mount bushings, but without the more expensive branding. If you're turned off by potential side effects of urethane or Delrin then the OEM diff mounts are your best option. The OEM mounts fit and perform just like the originals so there is no second guessing their quality. If you're looking for an upgrade we offer E9X solid Delrin and aluminum diff mounts that work well, even in street applications.

    These are the factory BMW Motorsport Group N high performance front upper control arm bushings. These heavy duty rubber bushings are stiffer than the stock bushings to improve steering feel and improve handling.     The E82 and E90/E92 subframes have an inherent weakness in the rear subframe - the mounts are too soft for the power and torque these cars are capable of. The subframe is the heart of a BMW's rear suspension. As torque is transmitted through the differential and axles and as the tires grip the road, the subframe mounts are working to keeping everything in line. That's a tough task to hold when torque is increased with bigger boost (335i) or even mild tweaks (M3). While the M3 subframe mounts are a great upgrade for the non-M chassis these factory BMW Motorsport subframe mounts go one step further.

    These Motorsport/Group N rear subframe bushings are a direct replacement upgrade over the stock mounts. They are rubber to conform to the rules of the Group N racing class - so they are still acceptable for street use as long as extra ride harshness can be tolerated. The rear subframe has to come down from the car for these mounts to be pressed in. So now is the perfect time to do other work as well - check out our other Motorsport Race bushings or M3 upgrades.
