Our Performance Software makes more horsepower and torque with no downsides! Performance software is the icing on the cake, the finishing touch, or the capstone for your BMW tuning project. Software ties it all together - maximizing output from upgrades where the factory software can't keep up. The factory software is actually programmed around 87 octane which de-tunes the performance of the car. Our software is set to 91 as a mimimum, allowing us to be more aggressive with the programming. We can refine and adjust the factory limitations, opening up the potential for more horsepower or refinement from your current upgrades. We also tune the software to fix defects and rough edges in the stock software, making the car easier and more enjoyable to drive.

We have been tuning BMW software since 1995, making us one of the most experienced BMW tuners in North America. Over the years we have experimented and tested many different forms and brands of performance software, including developing our own on our Dynapack chassis dyno. Our software fully maximizes the 'high-output' N52B30M1 engine in the 328i. Our software has been carefully developed on the dyno and the road to provide optimal power and torque gains at all RPM. We change the fuel, Valvetronic, and VANOS maps as well as revise the factory torque limiters. We have paid particular attention to increasing low and mid-range torque. The stock BMW software is hampered by settings for 87 octane fuel. By re-mapping the engine programming for 91 octane, we can make more power, torque, and improve fuel mileage - all without harm to the engine or affecting driveability. The throttle response is also improved (quicker) eliminating unwanted and dangerous flat spots in the pedal response.

There are two ways to install our software: mailing the ECU to us for a reflash or do-it-yourself install with our Turner Flash tool:

Mail-In Reflash - lower upfront cost but additional shipping charges. Minimum downtime of at least three days. We have a 24 hour turnaround on shipping the ECU back to you but factor in transit time. Expert installation of your software at our facility.
Turner Flash DIY tool - higher upfront cost but files are emailed back and forth. No downtime - you can still drive the car while we process your tune. Files are emailed back and forth - your stock file comes to us, a tuned file is returned to you. Easy install via Windows laptop using these instructions (click here).

The intake manifold from the 2006 E90 330i is a direct, bolt-on upgrade to the other cars with the N52 engine - 128i, 325i, 328i, 528i, and Z4 3.0i. The 330i used BMW's 'high output' N52 engine with a stock 255hp. The other cars used a very similar 3.0-liter engine with only minor changes. The biggest change was with the intake manifold. While these other cars used a single-stage intake manifold, the 330 came with a more advanced 3-stage manifold with electronic valves to direct air to the cylinders that need it most. This kit is a straight-forward bolt-on complete with performance software.

How The Manifold Makes Power
The 330 manifold uses two electronic DISA valves (Differential Air Control) to direct incoming air to the cylinders that need it most. The system works based on RPM range to fill each cylinder with as much air as possible while the intake valves are open. This is done by diverting air away from cylinders that have their intake valves closed. With more air volume and fuel adjustments you can extract more power from those cylinders at any given RPM. The standard and medium output N52 engines make do with the old-fashioned single stage system that only works to boost torque in the mid-range. With the additional DISA system you can extract much more power, especially at high RPM. We did our first development on this system in 2006 and it has been one of our top N52 performance upgrades ever since.

Installation
Removing and installing the new intake manifold is not very difficult but is quite a bit of work because of where it's located and all of the associated components that are attached to the manifold itself. All of these fittings, brackets and components will be transferred over to the new manifold. There is no drilling, slicing, fabricating, or soldering required. And since the pieces in this this kit are all factory parts the finished install is exactly like what would come from a BMW 330i. There are two DISA valves that are installed on the new manifold and the wiring to control them is already located in your engine bay. Your original throttle body and intake ducting fit exactly the same way.

    The software is done as a reflash of your engine computer. The computer must be sent in to Turner Motorsport for the upgrade. The easiest way to do this is to book your order online, we will contact you with instructions, send us your computer, and we will ship back the upgraded computer and the rest of the kit (you're not charged until items begin shipping). We provide the anti-static bag for your computer. You can use the car with the 330 manifold installed and the stock software but the original 325/328 software will not be optimized for the new manifold.

    The biggest change you will notice is the extra power, especially at high RPM. This is a kit that will make you want to rev to redline on every shift just to feel the difference. The power gains are not 'peaky' but there is a very noticeable bump in output starting at about 3,500 RPM. And with all factory parts and proven performance software there is no downside. The 330 manifold upgrade just may be the best modification you ever make to your E90!

    Note for N51 SULEV owners: the N51 engine already comes equipped with the 3-stage manifold. It's the same part number as the 330 manifold. The software is still available for the N51 so you can still get more performance, power, and torque (click here).

Adding power and torque to your M3's V8 is as easy as a flash! Where we can make our software better is by tuning it for higher octane gasoline. The stock software is tuned around the 87 octane available in the US (not that most people would use 87 but BMW engineers must account for that possibility). With our software, the performance of the S65 engine is optimized for the higher 91 or 93 octane. We tune many areas of the engine programming - fuel and timing maps at part throttle and wide-open throttle, revised torque settings and knock control, VAN0S variable valve timing, and more. The throttle response is also improved (quicker and smoother) eliminating unwanted and dangerous flat spots in the factory pedal response. We also offer raised rev limits and the top speed is raised/eliminated. Our software uses the factory 240E update as a base. The 240E has several major enhancements over previous factory file versions. No worry if you don't have 240E - we will provide you with a free update before the Turner performance software is installed. If you have other modifications done to your M3, we can supply you with specially-developed software to maximize the gains from those upgrades.

Turner Motorsport has been developing software on the S65 since our first car in 2008. Since then we have done software projects for street, track, full-race, stroker, and supercharged engine builds using the stock MSS60 DME or a stand-alone Bosch or Motec system. Engine tunes have been developed and checked on our Dynapack chassis dyno and further refined with real world testing. For track cars, our Stage 2 cat-delete software will clear check engine lights and faults (to satisfy race series regulations).

Our software is installed via the Turner flashing OBD tool. This tool plugs into the OBD socket in the dash and the performance software is installed from a laptop computer connected to the tool. It also works as a fault code scanner to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes and reset adaptations. The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy (click here for instructions). The OBD tool, cable, and files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your M3 flashed in under an hour from the convenience of your garage or driveway!


Stage 1 Performance Software Options:

Minimum Octane
You can choose between 91 or 93. We have developed tuning for the standard 'high octane' premium fuel found around the country (91 is the maximum available in some areas). Our power and torque gains are advertised with 91. If using 93 we can alter the knock sensor logic to extract more power with the higher grade fuel. Additional race fuel maps are also available, contact us for details.

Rev Limit
On 6-speed manual cars we can set a higher engine rev limit. 8,300 is stock; 8,400 is what was used on the GTS model in Europe; 8,600 is the safest raised rev limit that we have used in our race cars. To make things simple we offer it as either stock 8,300 or raised to 8,600. On DCT cars the higher rev limits are for M shift modes only (manual/paddle shift). The higher revs do not work in full auto D modes. Work is continuing on higher limits for D mode.

Launch Control
Our software can also enable a Launch Control feature. To use it, activate M Dynamic Mode, engage first gear, hold the throttle to the floor (it will only rev to 3,500 RPM), and dump the clutch. Keep your foot to the floor and hang on! You don't have to modulate the clutch and throttle - the engine and DSC modules will handle the launch. We experimented with different launch points and found that 3,500 RPM offers a great combination of tire hook-up and torque output. This is available on manual transmission cars only (DCT has their own built-in launch control).

M Dynamic Mode Steering
We can set the M Dynamic Mode (MDM) steering effort as the standard steering. The MDM steering is heavier and requires more effort when driving at higher speeds. Some owners feel that the standard steering is too light and over-boosted and the MDM steering is a nice change. This does not affect the steering effort, or the other features, of MDM.

240E Update
Our performance and race software is built around a specific version of stock BMW software (version 240E). It was released towards the end of M3 production and includes a number of significant changes over older versions for drivability and torque management. 240E was such a big step forward that it's considered an upgrade all on its own. No worry if you don't have 240E - we will provide you with a free update before the Turner performance software is installed.

In 2015 BMW released a 241E update. There are minor changes to the software code but the tuning maps and data are all the same as the 240E version so there is no need to update to 241E. If the dealer offers it we recommend that you decline. If you're already on 240E there is no reason to switch to 241E (the tuning maps are the same).

For a performance upgrade on your E90/E92 M3 there is nothing better than the cat-delete with specialized software. This combination produces over 40whp and 30wft-lbs with no other modifications - a massive gain on an already impressive engine!

Our Race software has been fine-tuned over the years beginning with our IMSA/CTSCC E92 M3 racecars (2011 GS class champions). We modify over 40 different maps in the ECU for such things as fuel and timing maps at part throttle and full throttle, revised torque settings, knock control, VANOS and cam timing, pedal input, top speed limiter, and rev limiters. Additional tuning has been done for the cat delete - prevent limp mode and check engine lights, fault codes for cat delete, and turning off the secondary air pump (to satisfy race series regulations). Turning off the secondary air pump also disables the cold start sequence so your idle and warm-up will be smoother and quieter. A built-in cold start rev limiter safeguards the engine internals until the oil warms up. Not only is there a lot more power at all RPM but the engine is more responsive and smoother!

Our M3 Test Pipes were designed specifically for race/track use and offer a cost-effective means of removing the very restrictive primary cats. On our Turner M3 and BMW Motorsport M3 GT4 racecars the primary cats and restrictive piping is eliminated. Our M3 cat delete pipes were the first on the market and have proven again and again to make big power on their own or especially when paired with our Stage 2 performance software. Our Test Pipes are Made in the USA with strict production tolerances and quality control. We manufacture our pipes with high quality, mandrel-bent stainless steel pipes and laser-cut flanges for an optimum fitment. New gaskets are included. The factory secondary cats remain in place. Your original O2 sensors plug into the Turner Test Pipes.

Disbale Cold Start
This feature is for off-road/track driven cars only. Under the original setup, a secondary air pump will turn on when the engine is started. This is to add fresh air to mix with the rich fuel mixture and heat the catalytic converters faster (rich mixtures are bad for the cats). The air pump stops running when the engine gets to a specified temp and the fuel mixture leans out. Unfortunately, the air pump system raises the idle and produces a very harsh and loud tone to the exhaust. The sound is worse when the catalytic converters are removed (such as on a track or race car) because the exhaust is more open. We will disable the air pump system so it does not activate when the engine is started. You get a super smooth and quiet startup that is a night and day difference compared to the original. This feature should only be used on cars that have had cats removed because the rich fuel mixture at startup will degrade the catalytic converters much quicker.

Our software fully maximizes the N51 engine in the 328i while in SULEV spec (Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle). The stock BMW software is hampered by settings for 87 octane fuel. By re-mapping the engine programming for 91 octane, we can make more power, torque, and improve fuel mileage - all without harm to the engine or affecting driveability. We have paid particular attention to increasing low and mid-range torque. The throttle response is also improved (quicker) eliminating unwanted and dangerous flat spots in the pedal response.

This software file is for the N51 engine SULEV model only. SULEV is a specification used in some parts of the US where emissions compliance is critical (mostly in California, the Northwest, and the Northeast). The computer and engine specs are different than the 'regular' 328i N52 engine.

There are two ways to install our software: mailing the ECU to us for a reflash or do-it-yourself install with our Turner Flash tool:

Mail-In Reflash - lower upfront cost but additional shipping charges. Minimum downtime of at least three days. We have a 24 hour turnaround on shipping the ECU back to you but factor in transit time. Expert installation of your software at our facility.
Turner Flash DIY tool - higher upfront cost but files are emailed back and forth. No downtime - you can still drive the car while we process your tune. Files are emailed back and forth - your stock file comes to us, a tuned file is returned to you. Easy install via Windows laptop using these instructions (click here).

Should you choose to mail your ECU to us, follow these specific instructions on shipping the computer (click here). We will provide you a free Next Day Air shipping label to get your ECU to us quickly - and returned just as fast. We will contact you to arrange a time to ship in your ECU to further minimize downtime.

The Cobb Tuning AccessPort is a flashing tool that installs performance software through the OBD port on your car. No other software is as easy to use and install! If you can program a TV remote, you're over-qualified to install this software. Just plug the AccessPort into the OBDII port under the dash, bring up the AccessPort onscreen menu, select from a variety of engine maps for your desired performance and install. It's that easy. The software is from COBB Tuning - one of the most accomplished software tuners in the business. The Cobb software replaces the conservative factory settings with different maps to make more power.

The AccessPort maintains the sophisticated control logic, refined engine response and excellent driveability of the stock BMW computer while providing impressive power gains and improved performance. Pre-loaded on the AccessPort are engine maps for 91 or 93 octane fuel, and a valet mode, with the capacity to hold up to 100 other tuning files! The AccessPort also saves your stock tune for you to revert back to factory settings at any time. It also has the the ability to download additional maps so that you can run various upgrades with the correct software tune. Additional tunes are available direct from Cobb through their AccessPort manager program (available for PC or OSX). Cobb also provides tech support.

In addition to the performance improvements, the AccessPort includes a variety of other useful tools -

Data
Since it plugs into the car's OBD communication port it has unparalleled access to a stream of engine data. It reads and displays throttle position, boost, ignition advance, wastegate duty cycle, mass air flow, intake air temperature, air/fuel ratio, calculated load, and much more. You can also record data for later analysis - up to 10 hours of running data! It also works as a timing meter for 0-60, 1/8 mile, 60' acceleration, 330' acceleration, and 1,000' acceleration time. You can plug the AccessPort into a PC or Mac and view all of this saved data in their program. This information is invaluable for evaluating engine performance and performance modifications.

Diagnostics
With access to the OBD port, the Cobb tuner can also read and reset Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). This saves you a trip to the dealer or local shop simply to have a fault code interpreted. Now you can pull these codes and get an answer to the problem right away! The code number and a brief description of the code is given so you won't even have to search for it online. Reset the code and you're on your way (unless the code comes back...).

Power
The AccessPort comes pre-loaded with 4 tuning files - Stage 0 (stock), Stage 1 Sport (91 octane), Stage 1 Aggressive (93 octane), and a Valet file. Additional files are available from the Cobb website for things such as an intake and larger intercooler. It can hold up to 100 different tuning files! It also saves your stock original file so you can revert back to stock at any time. The AccessPort maintains the sophisticated control logic, refined engine response and excellent driveability of the stock BMW computer while providing impressive power gains and improved performance. Cobb engineers are constantly revising and tuning their files to extract the most horsepower with the least effect on reliability and drivability. Updated files and new maps for additional modifications are available direct from Cobb.
