Set of 12 ProSeries ARP2000 connecting rod bolts for the Euro-spec M3 engine. Made by ARP, the world leader in fastener technology. The best rod bolts available for the Euro S50 and S54. Ideal for ultra high performance, racing & forced induction applications. Each bolt is made of ARP2000 material, which exceeds the strength of 8740 Chrome Moly, and is able to achieve clamp load at 220,000psi. ARP2000 fasteners are used widely in professional motorsport and drag racing as an upgrade from 8740 Chrome Moly in both steel and aluminum rods.

This set replaces the factory BMW Euro S50B30 and B32 rod bolts with part number 11-24-1-317-184 (11241317184) and 11-24-1-405-890 (11241405890). It's also used for S54 engines with stock M10 sized rod bolts, which were used from February 2003 production and later. It was also used in earlier engines that had connecting rods replaced. For these 2001-2003 models there is no easy way to check if the rods were replaced, except by checking the rod bolt diameter. If your car has the earlier M11 sized bolt, use ARP kit #201-6103 . Before opening the ARP kit, we recommend that you check your existing rod bolt size as BMW was not consistent with their applications. ARP bolts are not returnable if the package has been open.

The timing belt on the M20 engine should be replaced every 50,000 miles. The Gates Racing's timing belt this kit includes is constructed of HNBR elastomeric composites. That being said, they are 300% stronger than the OE belt & deliver up to three times the heat resistance. Also included in this kit are the following:

If you're not sure if your VANOS seals are bad then the only question you need to answer is if you've replaced them. Every unit from the factory came with the same failure prone o-rings and seals, even the re-manufactured units you can still get today. The only real fix is by replacing the seals and o-rings with material that is built to last in the oiled, extreme temperature environment found in these kits.

A premium product replacement with easy to follow instructions makes rebuilding your VANOS unit a must. Even though the power loss is barely felt it's the opposite result once you replace the seals, every car that gets rebuilt ends up wowing the customer and all of them saying they didn't realize what they lost.

There are a number of symptoms that will plague your car as a result of these failing seals such as erratic idle, engine hesitation, stalling, and increased fuel consumption to name a few. If you've been chasing down any of these symptoms with no fix then this could be your issue.

While you're replacing the seals in your VANOS unit it a good time to install anti-rattle spacers to tighten up the gaps in your stock assembly and get rid of that noisy VANOS clatter.

The intermediate shaft bearings are located in the engine block (an inner and outer bearing). The intermediate shaft is driven from the timing belt and spins the oil pump shaft. Whenever the engine is torn down and the block is chemically or thermally cleaned these bearings will need to be replaced. The bearings must be sized with the intermediate shaft! The bearing surfaces must be machined to the correct tolerance for the block and shaft! You must make your engine builder aware of this before final assembly.

Note: these bearings must be machined for the shaft and block.

M20 block uses inner and outer bearings but the bearings are the same part numbers.

This ARP main stud set for the 24 valves M50-based 6 cylinder engines (including M50, M52, S50US and S52US) and eliminates main cap walk and fretting, as well as protects the threads in your engine block. Each stud is made using the best materials, process, design and engineering, which exceeds even the most stringent racing and aerospace specifications. This main stud kit includes hardened parallel-ground washers and aerospace quality nuts. Replaces BMW part numbers 11-11-1-713-525 (11111713525) and 11-11-2-244-286 (11112244286).

The studs are manufactured from 8740 chrome moly steel, heat-treated in-house to 190,000 psi tensile strength, and precision J-form threads rolled after heat-treat to create a fastener that has threads 1000% stronger than others. On the E30 M3, there's no reason to settle for anything less than the best, which is why we carry and use ARP fasteners and studs on our own BMW race cars.

These are simply the best connecting rod bolts available, making them ideal for ultra high performance, racing and forced induction applications.

These bolts are M11 size to replace the stock M11 BMW bolt part number 11-24-7-834-310 (11247834310). The M11 bolt size was used in S54 engines up to 2/2003 production. However, most S54 engines up to that point had their rod bearings replaced under a factory recall and some may have had new connecting rods installed at the same time (or even a new engine altogether). The new bolts installed in these earlier engines are M10 size. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing which rod or bolt is currently in your car (unless your car came with service records detailing when and what was replaced). The only sure way to know is to check the bolts currently installed in your engine. If yours was updated to the M10 sized bolt, use ARP kit #201-6102 . ARP bolts are not returnable if the pacakge has been open.

This is a plastic guide rail for the timing chain on the E46 M3, MZ3 S54, and Z4 M (all S54 cars). We have found that on high mileage engines this plastic piece has worn down, especially at the tip. If allowed to completely wear out it could lead to some very bad engine damage as the timing chain flops about and maybe even jumps teeth on the camshafts or crank gear. When replacing the S54 VANOS unit you should also replace this guide rail which is located close-by. A new crush washer is included.
