BMW Intake Manifold Upgrades

BMW Intake Manifold Upgrades On some BMW engines changing the intake manifold to one from a different engine can yield HUGE power gains in the upper RPM range. The upgraded manifolds have larger intake runners and altered intake runner paths that benefit power in the higher RPM. The upgraded manifolds are BMW factory parts so the final install looks just like it would have had the car been born that way. We sell complete intake manifold upgrades that are direct bolt-ons to the engine. In most cases special software is included or required. The software helps to minimize low end torque losses and take advantage of the higher airflow at high RPM with revised camshaft timing and fuel maps.

M50 Manifold Conversion Adapter Kit (To install OBDI manifold on an M52/S52) As Used on Project E36 M3
This kit includes everything to fit an OBDI M50 manifold to an OBDII M52 or S52 engine (1996-1999). It takes the guesswork out of adding the M50 manifold to your engine. The kit includes a CNC machined adapter, with all hardware and gaskets, that allows the freer flowing M50 manifold to be installed while maintaining full function of M52/S52 components including factory PCV cyclone / oil seperator valve. No vacuum leaks, no check engine lights. And the entire kit is completely reversible. Turner Motorsport has dealt with the problems from other kits and this adapter block is – by far – the best solution.The base price of this kit does not include the M50 manifold. You can pick up a used manifold from a 1992-1995 E36 325i or a 1995 M3 3.0 liter. You can find them in local junk or scrap yards, online at Craigslist or eBay, or from various forums. If you would rather not deal with the potential pitfalls of a used part, we can offer a new Original BMW manifold to go with the adapter. While expensive, the new manifold is guaranteed to be in perfect condition with no cracks, warping, or foreign objects hidden inside. A new factory BMW manifold can be added to your order by selecting the option below.With the introduction of the 1996 model year came the OBDII emissions compliant engine. Among the many changes the OBDII engines received was a more restrictive air intake manifold. Where the older M50/S50 engines continued to make power up in the higher RPMs, the newer M52/S52 ran out of breath, limiting high-end horsepower, but boosting low-end torque. Converting the OBDII cars to the 1995 and earlier OBDI manifold is a popular modification to remove this high-rpm restriction.

To best maximize the horsepower gains of this modification, you should be using the M50 manifold with bigger cams, HFM, injectors, and software. We have found this combination of upgrades and software to yield the best results for producing top-end power. Note: using the M50 manifold shifts the power band higher in the RPM range. This is GREAT for track cars but not well-suited for street cars where the OBDII manifold works best to produce torque at lower RPM. Presently, we do not have software tuned for only the M50 manifold without cams or the HFM upgrade. Check our website again for future product releases. E85 Z4 3.0i Turner 3.0Si Intake Manifold & Software Upgrade

The intake manifold from the 2006 E90 330i and Z4 3.0si is a direct, bolt-on upgrade to the other cars with the N52 engine - 128i, 325i, 328i, 528i, and Z4 3.0i. The Z4 3.0si used BMW's 'high output' N52 engine with a stock 255hp. The other cars used a very similar 3.0-liter engine with only minor changes. The biggest change was with the intake manifold. While these other cars used a single-stage intake manifold, the 330 came with a more advanced 3-stage manifold with electronic valves to direct air to the cylinders that need it most. This kit is a straight-forward bolt-on complete with performance software.

How The Manifold Makes Power
The 330 manifold uses two electronic DISA valves (Differential Air Control) to direct incoming air to the cylinders that need it most. The system works based on RPM range to fill each cylinder with as much air as possible while the intake valves are open. This is done by diverting air away from cylinders that have their intake valves closed. With more air volume and fuel adjustments you can extract more power from those cylinders at any given RPM. The standard and medium output N52 engines make do with the old-fashioned single stage system that only works to boost torque in the mid-range. With the additional DISA system you can extract much more power, especially at high RPM. We did our first development on this system in 2006 and it has been one of our top N52 performance upgrades ever since.

Installation
Removing and installing the new intake manifold is not very difficult but is quite a bit of work because of where it's located and all of the associated components that are attached to the manifold itself. All of these fittings, brackets and components will be transferred over to the new manifold. There is no drilling, slicing, fabricating, or soldering required. And since the pieces in this this kit are all factory parts the finished install is exactly like what would come from a BMW 330i. There are two DISA valves that are installed on the new manifold and the wiring to control them is already located in your engine bay. Your original throttle body and intake ducting fit exactly the same way.

We provide the anti-static bag for your computer. You can use the car with the 330 manifold installed and the stock software but the original Z4 3.0i software will not be optimized for the new manifold.

The biggest change you will notice is the extra power, especially at high RPM. This is a kit that will make you want to rev to redline on every shift just to feel the difference. The power gains are not 'peaky' but there is a very noticeable bump in output starting at about 3,500 RPM. And with all factory parts and proven performance software there is no downside. The 330 manifold upgrade just may be the best modification you ever make to your Z4!

E90 330i N52 Intake Manifold This is the Genuine BMW intake manifold from the N52B30H0 engine used in the 330i, Z4 3.0si, X5 3.0si, and others. It's also used in the N51 SULEV engines. This is the dual DISA version (but DISA valves not included).

This manifold is often used for 325i, 328i, 528i and other cars with the N52 engine to boost top end horsepower. The 330's twin DISA valves allow much better airflow characteristics at all RPM.
