There are downpipes that delete the primary cats and can leave the exhaust with a dirty and awful smell. Not only will the Cobb AP increase horsepower and torque but special programming is available to keep fault codes, check engine lights, and limp mode from disrupting your day. The original Euro headers for the E46 M3 are the original M3 header upgrade. They were the first set of headers we used back in 2001. These eliminate the original US catalytic converters in the stock US manifold (the Euro cats are under the car in the exhaust center section). With no restriction the Euro headers combined with Shark software will gain over 20hp from a stock US M3 (slightly less gain if using sport cats in section 1).
There are a lot of different headers for the E46 M3 but many of them are cheap copies of the true Euro headers. These are the genuine article without the quality issues and fitment nightmares of ultra-cheap imitations. Since these are Genuine BMW parts they are a direct fit to your engine with the proper flanges and routing with no interference with the air pump or other accessories. These can re-use the original exhaust studs on the engine and factory gaskets. New gaskets and hardware are included! Since these are straight off the Euro M3 they do not have the same port locations for the post-cat O2 sensors or EGT sensor. These are required even with Race software so they will need to be added by your installer.
The Shark Injector Race software has been calibrated specifically for headers and no cats. The software features tuning of the fuel, spark, VANOS, and throttle maps to unlock extra horsepower and torque with either 91 or 93 octane. We also raise the rev limit to 8,100 RPM. The throttle maps have been massaged to be smoother in normal mode and smoother and faster in Sport mode. This makes the car a lot easier to drive without the stumbling and bucking of the stock software. The Race software includes programming to run without cats. The post-cat O2 sensors and the EGT sensor must still be installed in the exhaust to prevent additional fault codes

These stainless tubular downpipes eliminate the largest restriction in the stock exhaust: the catalytic converters. Supersprint makes these tubular stainless headers for the Euro-spec E36 M3 but they make a great upgrade when fitted to highly tuned US models. The Euro exhaust uses larger diameter tubing because the Euro engines move so much air at high RPM. A US car with all of the typical bolt-on upgrades can also benefit from these larger pipes as it allows the engine to move the exhaust gasses easier. If you have the M50 manifold, cams, head work, or even forced induction, don't let your exhaust be your weakest link! Less work means more torque and horsepower are freed up to actually propel the car. These Euro headers are beautifully engineered and crafted from 304 stainless and feature mandrel bends and an equal length layout. An O2 sensor bung is built into each bank (or keep them plugged if not needed).

Note for all E36 models: the Euro exhaust has a very different layout than the US models. These headers are for the Euro M3 and will only fit US cars when used with the rest of the Euro exhaust system (center section with muffler) or a custom exhaust from these headers back.
Note for 96-99 models: these headers include O2 sensor bungs but no ports for the US secondary air pump. Therefore, these Euro headers are not intended for street-based cars and should only be used for racing or track use with special software, OBD-I conversion, or stand-alone engine management. In addition, the headers may have to be modified to properly block off the seconday air pump ports.

American Racing Headers is a performance exhaust manufacturer that specializes in high flow header systems. They have made a huge name for themselves since their creation in 2005 in the domestic world and are venturing into the Euro scene, now offering premium exhausts for BMW. Made 100% in the USA, located in Deer Park, New York, of 304 stainless steel and hand welded to ensure the best fitment possible, these headers and exhaust systems are perfect for high performance and long term durability. Within just a few years, the were noticed by the "Big-Three" auto giants in the US and were soon the Tier-One supplier of racing headers for the Ford Cobra Jet Mustang, General Motor's Copo Camaro, Chrysler's Drag Pack Challenger, and the Dodge ACR-X Viper.

The stock S54 headers didn't exactly do the motor any justice when it came to performance. The catalytic converters were restrictive, the primary tubes were rather thin, and the dual desgin and basic collectors limited the amount of potential exhaust flow. ARH has taken action to resolve this issue and came out with their Performance Long Tube Headers.
Using 1-3/4" header primaries that are significantly larger than stock is the first major improvement. This allows immediate high flow and eliminates a potential restriction issue at higher RPM's. These are connected to a single piece mount made from 1/2" thick steel plate to prevent warping and are counter-bored so that the mounting is hassle free and lines up like OEM.
Next is the relocation of the catalytic converter. It is now located further down-stream after the collector. This manifold is available with or without the catalytic converter, giving you the option to build exclusively for the track or for split street and strip use. The cat has been upgraded to a performance 200-cell metallic-substrate catalytic converter for extreme durability and a long life.
The final major improvement is the custom in-house designed 6-to-1 merge collector. This is the most important part of the entire header system. The collector features a merge spike welded inside for a smoother transition and the primaries are arranged in a way that creates a vortex scavenging effect using the natural pulses of the engines exhaust. This helps pull the exhaust down to the the 3 inch choke, which increases the exhaust gases' velocity, then gradually increases back up to 3.5 inches.
All of these improvements taken into consideration lead to one final major result: More power throughout the RPM band in every gear, all the way to redline!
This racing header bolts up to the stock Section 2 mid-pipe and can be used with any cat-back exhaust! We recommend pairing this with your stock section two pipes and resonator and upgrading your rear muffler to the Supersprint Muffler (T#3467).

The original Euro headers for the E46 M3 are the original M3 header upgrade. They were the first set of headers we used back in 2001. These eliminate the original US catalytic converters in the stock UE manifold (the Euro cats are under the car in the exhaust center section). With no restriction the Euro headers will gain over 15hp from a stock US M3 (slightly less gain if using sport cats in section 1).
There are a lot of different headers for the E46 M3 but many of them are cheap copies of the true Euro headers. These are the genuine article without the quality issues and fitment nightmares of ultra-cheap imitations. Since these are Genuine BMW parts they are a direct fit to your engine with the proper flanges and routing with no interference with the air pump or other accessories. These can re-use the original exhaust studs on the engine and factory gaskets. New gaskets and hardware are highly recommended (offered separately below). Since these are straight off the Euro M3 they do not have the same port locations for the post-cat O2 sensors or EGT sensor. These can be added by your installer or run special software to run without them.
Since these headers replace the factory US catalytic converters they are sold for race and off-road use only. If your series requires a catalytic converter there are multiple options for sport cats in section 1. Special Race software will be required to prevent check engine lights and fault codes.

The cats in the stock US manifold are the biggest enemy in making more power from the S54. The cats as part of the stock header are a major blockage to airflow so removing them will unlock a lot of missing horsepower. Ideally, the best way to do this is with a set of Supersprint tubular headers. But if you want to keep your stock manifold and 'gut' the stock cats from them these pipes are the way to go. You can get a lot of the power gains of a true header system at a fraction of the cost. The stock cats are cut along an existing weld in each manifold and this piece is welded in place. Special software or modules will be required to keep fault codes and check engine lights from coming on. Bungs are preinstalled for the post cat O2 sensors. Any Supersprint section 1 piece will bolt on to these downpipes.

This N20 downpipe feature larger piping and catalytic converter that are freer-flowing than the original cats for better flow and less backpressure. By removing exhaust restrictions the turbos can spool up faster which makes more boost sooner. With additional tuning, more power is available. Our Power Pulley reduces rotational mass and safely under drives your belt driven auxiliaries for reduced parasitic power loss. The end result: More power to your M5 or M6's rear wheels! Designed to give the best performance benefit with no sacrifices or compromises to your BMW's reliability. These have been tested on hundreds of cars before public release and there are simply NO DOWNSIDES to this upgrade. CNC machined using aircraft grade 6061 aluminum billet, and anodized with a stealthy black coating. Others may advertise "their" crank pulley boasting higher numbers (using a smaller pulley profile), but we have concluded that for street and track driven M5 and M6, this is the best size and design to ensure proper engine temp and auxiliary functionality. As the S85 V10 engine doesn't use a traditional harmonic balancer, all factory harmonics and dampening are fully and properly retained. We've found this pulley alone adds 18 to 22 HP and 17 to 21 Ft/lbs Torque on a stock M5 or M6 with no other mods(!!).

TURNER INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR (IAT) RELOCATION KIT
Got heat soak? The problem is that BMW integrated the S68's intake air temp sensor in the MAF housing, which is sandwiched behind a hot radiator and in some applications next to an even hotter valve cover. The MAF housing absorbs the excess heat from its surroundings and can’t shed it fast enough, and the ECU reads a falsely high intake air temperature. It then incorrectly adjusts operating parameters to compensate for the false hot air measurement (pulling timing and running a leaner fuel mixture), and torque output drops like a rock.
The fix? Locate an intake air temp sensor in a location where it can more accurately measure incoming air temps and where it is less prone to heat soak. By mounting a sensor further away from the heat source and divorcing it from the mass of the MAF housing, it can both resist the effects of heat soak longer and respond to temperature changes more quickly. The end result? You’ll experience reduced loss in torque and more consistent power output when you’re pushing your engine hard.
Result? We recovered 11lb-ft torque at 2500rpm by relocating the temperature sensor on an E39 M5 (E60 owners should expect an even more substantial recovery)!
Installation is as simple as drilling a small hole for the sensor and plugging in the harness.
AFE INTAKE SYSTEM
Rid your M5 or M6's V10 powerplant of both of its restrictive factory air boxes with this cold air intake kit by aFe, and you'll cut the airflow restriction IN HALF. Air flow showed an increase of 117% and dyno testing yielded max power gains of 28hp and 24 ft/lbs of torque . This kit can typically be installed in less than 60 minutes, and uses all factory mounting points (no modifications). The kit uses 2 high performance 360 degree radial flow air filters which are washable/reusable (or oiled - your choice). On our own M5 project vehicles, the combination of our software and Supersprint headers* netted 30hp and 50ft-lbs of torque - a massive transformation to an already mighty car. The factory header system on the M5/M6 V10 is nicely designed - except where the primary tubes join together. TURNER STAGE 2 PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE
Adding power and torque to the M5 V10 is as easy as a flash! Where we can make our software better is by tuning it for higher octane gasoline. The stock software is tuned around the 87octane available in the US (most M5 owners would never use 87 but BMW engineers must account for that possibility). With our software, the performance of the S85 engine is optimized for the higher 91 or 93 octane. We tune many areas of the engine programming -
- fuel and timing maps at part throttle and wide-open throttle,
- revised torque settings and knock control,
- improved VAN0S variable valve timing,
- smoother and faster pedal response
- top speed limiter eliminated
- optional raised rev limit
Our software uses a new version of stock BMW software as its base. Even the new stock software is an improvement over the original M5. If you have other modifications done to your M5/M6, we can supply you with specially-developed software to maximize the gains from those upgrades.
Turner Motorsport has been developing software on the S85 since our first car in 2006. Since then we have done software projects for street, track, and 5.7L stroker engine builds using the stock MSS65 DME. Engine tunes have been developed and checked on our Dynapack chassis dyno and further refined with real world testing. For track cars, our Stage 2 cat-delete software will clear check engine lights and faults (to satisfy race series regulations).
Our software is installed via the Turner flashing OBD tool. This tool plugs into the OBD socket in the dash and the performance software is installed from a laptop computer connected to the tool. It also works as a fault code scanner to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes and reset adaptations. The software program requires a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 laptop and the installation and setup are very easy. The OBD tool, cable, and files are shipped to you with simple setup instructions. There is no need to remove your ECU and ship it. You can have your M5 flashed in under an hour from the convenience of your garage or driveway!
Minimum Octane
You can choose between 91 or 93. We have developed tuning for the standard 'high octane' premium fuel found around the country (91 is the maximum available in some areas). Our power and torque gains are advertised with 93. The 91 octane version will have less timing and slightly less horsepower gains.
Rev Limit
We have two rev limit options: stock 8,250 and raised 8,500. Having a higher rev limit lets you stay in gear longer and avoid an untimely upshift. Higher rev limits should only be used for brief moments and never for sustained running. Additional engine maintenance, with frequent oil changes and oil analysis, is strongly recommended.
Base File Update
Our performance software is built around a specific version of stock software that BMW released as an update. It includes a number of significant changes over older versions for driveability and torque management. The M5 update was such a big step forward that it's considered an upgrade all on its own. No worry if you don't have it - we will provide you with a free update before the Turner performance software is installed

The factory 235/335/435 N55 exhaust system is pretty wide open with minimal restrictions - except for the catalytic converter. The factory cat is the biggest restriction so any exhaust work to gain more power is going to have to involve replacing it with something freer-flowing. Supersprint metallic sport catalytic converters are sourced from HJS of Germany. For 30 years HJS has been supplying motorsports teams with sport cats when rules required them. HJS is now a worldwide leader in sport cat technology and performance. Rally cars, German DTM, and Formula 3 all rely on HJS for clean, reliable horsepower. Supersprint works closely with HJS to spec a catalytic converter that is correct for the vehicle and engine package. This allows for a substantial increase in flow but which, at the same time, keeps the environmental specs within European limits. With any high-flow catalytic converter, special software or other work may be required to keep emissions fault codes and check engine lights from displaying. Supersprint catalytic converters are sold for track and other off-road uses only.

There are a lot of different headers for the E46 M3 but many of them are cheap copies of the true Euro headers. These are the genuine article without the quality issues and fitment nightmares of ultra-cheap imitations. Since these are Genuine BMW parts they are a direct fit to your engine with the proper flanges and routing with no interference with the air pump or other accessories. These can re-use the original exhaust studs on the engine and factory gaskets. New gaskets and hardware are highly recommended (offered separately below). Since these are straight off the Euro M3 they do not have the same port locations for the post-cat O2 sensors or EGT sensor. These can be added by your installer or run special software to run without them.
Since these headers replace the factory US catalytic converters they are sold for race and off-road use only. If your series requires a catalytic converter there are multiple options for sport cats in section 1. Special software will be required to prevent check engine lights and fault codes.

Headers should be part of any M20 performance project or restoration. These Supersprint tubular headers are a larger diameter and have better flow than the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds and they make more power. And since the stock headers are known to be brittle and can crack over time these make for an excellent upgrade replacement.
This header system mimics the stock exhaust after the header collectors. It uses the same 3-bolt flange as the original 323 center resonator. This precision designed downpipe upgrade features larger piping and a sport catalytic converter for better flow and less backpressure. BMW introduced a new valvetronic, single turbo version of its direct-injection engine for the F-Chassis models, the Active Autowerke N55 downpipe for the M235i, 335i, 435i and M2 helps unleash some of the potential that is restricted by the OEM downpipe.
Turbochargers are powered by spent exhaust gases created during the combustion process. The quicker these gases are evacuated, the better. Unfortunately, the factory down pipe in the N55 is quite restrictive, which results in slower exhaust gases and slower turbo spool.
The Active Autowerke F-Chassis N55 Signature down pipe utilizes 3.5” diameter stainless steel piping in order to provide more power, quicker spool, and extreme durability.
A fabricated a 3.5" V-Band flange in the middle of it to create a truly modular design for any enthusiasts that would like to upgrade to a complete 3.5" exhaust later down the road. The OEM downpipe shrinks down to under 3" where it meets the stock exhaust. They've inserted the 3.5" flange so that if you have an M2 you can later upgrade to our complete 3.5" turbo back system, or if you have a M235i, 335i or 435i you'll have the option to create your own 3.5" turbo back system! AA's downpipe is the perfect addition for any F-Chassis N55 and especially those with an upgraded turbo system!

The design is not very conducive to exhaust flow so they rob the engine of horsepower and torque. One way to get that back is to use a non-restrictive exhaust header like this Supersprint. It does not contain a catalytic converter so the shape and size of the tubing can be optimized for the M54 3.0-liter inline-6. These Supersprint 'Partial-Stepped' headers for the US E46 M3 are a replacement for the stock manifolds/cats and an upgrade from the standard Supersprint headers. This header is a partially stepped design - the tubing diameter increases as it leaves the exhaust port, which helps exhaust flow, but has the factory-sized outlet so it can connect to a factory section 1 exhaust. For making E46 M3 horsepower and performance gains, headers are right at the top of the list (along with changing the rear end gears).
Since the stock catalytic converters are in the original exhaust manifolds, using any type of tubular non-cat manifolds will give instant power gains. The Supersprint headers are full 304 stainless steel (not mild steel) for better heat dissipation and heat resistance to cracking and de-forming (any headers not made from stainless suffer from structural problems). Supersprint designs their headers with CAD programs and 50 years of exhaust tuning experience. These headers are an improvement over any 'Euro style' header on the market. In an engine that is tuned as much as the S54, airflow management is critical in getting big horsepower numbers from the exhaust. By slightly increasing the size of the pipe diameters as the exhaust system moves away from the engine, the exhaust can flow more air. We also recommend using this system on the M3 with special software. The Shark Injector software has been specifically designed for cars running headers but no cats. The software "turns down" the readings from the rear O2 sensors and modifies the tolerances for the EGT sensor. One area where the US M5/M6 is different than a more-powerful Euro-spec model is in the exhaust. The US M5/M6 got a header design with smaller pipes that is more restrictive. These Supersprint headers are based on the Euro design (no longer available through BMW USA) but are slightly larger tubes for better performance. The stepped design is a favorite of M3 header designs and originated in Formula 1 engines. For a true racing car, the biggest restriction in the exhaust system is the catalytic converters. On modern BMWs there are often two sets - a primary in the header/downpipe and a secondary further back in the exhaust. Removing these restrictions with a cat-less downpipe and straight pipes has enormous benefits for a track or race car: remove the restriction which unlocks huge power and torque gains, less heat (which can reduce power output), zero complication from a clogged or blocked catalytic converter, and less weight. These Supersprint M3/M4 cat-less downpipes are made from stainles steel and have no cats and mandrel-bent pipes for the best flow out the turbos. This turbo down pipe for the 135i and 335i is manufactured from 304 stainless steel using all mandrel bent tubing and each pipe is 65mm in diameter resulting in ultra low backpressure, assuring instant turbo spool up for maximum torques and horsepower gains for your 135i or 335i. The results of installing a complete turbo to tail pipe Supersprint system are a phenomenal 26 hp with a torque gain over 20 lb/ft.
The stock down pipes cause a major restriction in the exhaust flow. BMW's solution to deal with the limited space in the engine compartment is to crush the turbo outlet tubes to reduce the size of the tubing. Doing this created undesirable backpressure. For emission purposes the factory also incorporated built-in pre-cats directly after the turbo outlet ports. This make the exhaust gas backpressure rise to extremely high levels at all rpm and engine loads. This design retains excessive heat in the engine and affects performance in a negative way. The design of the Supersprint down pipes takes advantage of even the smallest space available and frees the exhaust gas flow dramatically. The SS pipe cross section (no crushed pipe) remains constant all along the down pipes and the pre-cats are totally eliminated.

Not only will the Cobb AP increase horsepower and torque but special programming is available to keep fault codes, check engine lights, and limp mode from disrupting your day. The F8X downpipes are strategically engineered to virtually eliminate the immensely restrictive characteristics of the factory F80 M3 and F82 M4 downpipes – therefore reducing radiant heat and increasing performance.
The initial prototype design didn’t include the flex joints you see in the images above. Without these flex joints, the prototypes created an annoying vibration from within the cabin. They quickly realized the necessity of including flex joints into the design and went back to the drawing board. The works of art you see above are a culmination of years of experience engineering top-notch BMW exhaust products.
Made from 1.3-1.5mm thick 304 stainless steel, these F80 M3 and F82 M4 downpipes are finished with a White Lightning Exhaust Coating (performance enhancing, ceramic coating) from Swain Tech Coatings. Developed for precise fitment on both the F80 BMW M3 and F82 BMW M4, the difference in performance will be noticeable the moment you leave your driveway!
Unlike many of the cosmetic exhaust coatings, Swain Tech Coating’s White Lightning Exhaust Coating is a REAL ceramic coating – an exceptional insulating material. Since White Lightning is such a great insulating material, it is applied nearly five times thicker than a cosmetic coating. Additionally, White Lightning has performance enhancing benefits that cannot be matched by other cosmetic exhaust coatings.
Applied in a molten state, the ceramic coating bonds directly to the exhaust component. Typically a White Lightning coating can reduce radiant heat by roughly 35-55% - thus reducing engine bay and intake air temperatures.

Ideally, the best way to do this is with a set of Supersprint tubular headers. But if you want to keep your stock manifold and 'gut' the stock cats from them these pipes are the way to go. The factory M5/M6 exhaust system is very wide open with minimal restrictions - except for the catalytic converters. The factory ceramic cat is the biggest restriction so any exhaust work to gain more power is going to have to involve replacing it with something freer-flowing. Supersprint metallic sport catalytic converters are sourced from HJS of Germany. For 30 years HJS has been supplying motorsports teams with sport cats when rules required them. HJS is now a worldwide leader in sport cat technology and performance. Rally cars, German DTM, and Formula 3 all rely on HJS for clean, reliable horsepower. Supersprint works closely with HJS to spec a catalytic converter that is correct for the vehicle and engine package. This allows for a substantial increase in flow but which, at the same time, keeps the environmental specs within European limits. With any high-flow catalytic converter, special software or other work may be required to keep emissions fault codes and check engine lights from displaying. Supersprint catalytic converters are sold for track and other off-road uses only.

When modifying their N54, most enthusiasts quickly find OEM downpipes offer insufficient performance as power levels are increased, resulting in disappointing results from other modifications. While some find catless downpipes to be the answer, their benefits are increasingly failing to outweigh the downsides when used on the street. Exhaust volume is increased (combined with a full exhaust may be too much for sensitive ears), check engine lights are frequently illuminated, and emissions are greatly increased (a problem for the environment and in passing emissions testing).
Turner engineers designed downpipes that met a happy compromise - excellent flow with high performance 48-state legal catalytic converters. By utilizing cats, these downpipes offer much lower emissions than catless products (and in many cases, no check engine light), with little sacrifice to performance versus their catless counterparts. These high-flow units feature a 3" inlet, followed by a series of smooth radius bends and efficient catalyst, exits as a 2.5" to retain compatibility with popular cat-back exhausts (as well as factory exhaust piping).
We confirmed power and efficiency improvements are present on both a stock tune with even greater power to be found versus factory downpipes while utilizing a simple ECU tune. These gains were confirmed on our in-house Mustang AWD-500 dynamometer while running an off-the-shelf (no tuning trickery in these numbers) Cobb Stage 1 tune:
Stock downpipes wheel horsepower: 314hp @ 5700rpm
Stock downpipes wheel torque: 386ft/lb @ 4000rpm
Turner downpipe wheel horsepower: 334hp @ 6000rpm
Turner downpipe wheel torque: 390ft/lb @ 4100rpm

Fitment Notes: The headers are a direct fit with the factory gaskets to the M30 engine. A set of downpipes connect the headers to a Supersprint front resonator. For a true racing car, the biggest restriction in the exhaust system is the catalytic converters. On modern BMWs there are often two sets - a primary in the header/downpipe and a secondary further back in the exhaust. Removing these restrictions with a cat-less downpipe and straight pipes has enormous benefits for a track or race car: remove the restriction which unlocks huge power and torque gains, less heat (which can reduce power output), zero complication from a clogged or blocked catalytic converter, and less weight. Supersprint metallic sport catalytic converters are sourced from HJS of Germany. For 30 years HJS has been supplying motorsports teams with sport cats when rules required them. HJS is now a worldwide leader in sport cat technology and performance. Rally cars, German DTM, and Formula 3 all rely on HJS for clean, reliable horsepower. Supersprint works closely with HJS to spec a catalytic converter that is correct for the vehicle and engine package. This allows for a substantial increase in flow but which, at the same time, keeps the environmental specs within European limits. The Active Autowerke Exhaust SECTION 1 only comes into play if your vehicle already has a performance header already installed. One will experience a high smell of unburnt fuel. (due to the open exhaust w/o any catalysts) and development of a RASPY like sound of which the BMW S54 engine is notorious for with the BMW Stock Section 1 when equipped. This raspy like sound is a matter of engine sound harmonics at a specific RPM range, a sort of resonance that is very loud and noticeable when the engine is revving at or above 4,000 rpm. With the Active Autowerke Exhaust SECTION 1 installed, the BMW performance gains are about the same as running the factory section 1. However, that's impressive considering the exhaust flow is also being filtered while running through a pair of 100 cell catalysts. The power and performance is still there. In addition, the smell of un-burnt gas? Gone. The excessive exhaust rasp? Gone.
**These section 1 pipes are not set up for direct O2 sensor fitment and are therefore not considered legal for street use. Professional installation of O2 sensors and sensor bung ports may allow these to prevent check engine lights and meet emissions requirements, but this is not guaranteed. Please check with state and local law before altering the exhaust system components of a street driven vehicle.

They have made a huge name for themselves since their creation in 2005 in the domestic world and are venturing into the Euro scene, now offering premium exhausts for BMW. Made 100% in the USA, located in Deer Park, New York, of 304 stainless steel and hand welded to ensure the best fitment possible, these headers and exhaust systems are perfect for high performance and long term durability. Within just a few years, the were noticed by the "Big-Three" auto giants in the US and were soon the Tier-One supplier of racing headers for the Ford Cobra Jet Mustang, General Motor's Copo Camaro, Chrysler's Drag Pack Challenger, and the Dodge ACR-X Viper.

As shown above, their E9X Header to Axle exhaust system's are perfect for giving your vehicle both a much more aggressive sound when paired with stock or aftermarket exhausts and unleashing the potential power of your 4.0L S65 V8.
The first parts down the line are their signature high flow headers! Using header primaries that are larger than stock and merge collectors that are in-house designed to improve flow as much as possible using a vortex scavenging design, these headers allow a significant improvement in total exhaust flow resulting in higher torque and horsepower numbers throughout the RPM band. The primary tubes come in 2 sizes: 1-5/8" diameter or 1-3/4" diameter. 1-5/8" primaries offer a moderate improvement over stock allowing for less restriction directly at the head and down to the collector. This size will better benefit vehicles that are mostly stock and with a tune and performance intake. 1-3/4" primaries offer a more sizable improvement, allowing for vehicles built much more aggressively to benefit greatly. Vehicles with performance cams, higher performance tunes, and other heavy modifications will be able to efficiently expel exhaust gases thanks to the lower restriction and will be able to see much higher numbers on a dyno and feel a difference on the street or strip.
After passing through the manifold, the exhaust gases come to the second component of this performance system, the 3" X-pipe that is available with or without catalytic converters. X-pipes are great for two reasons: More even exhaust flow throughout the power band, thus improving engine efficiency, and an steadier exhaust note that gives off a super-car feel instead of the traditional pulsating that gives your car an old muscle car sound. This helps express the natural sound of the exhaust both at idle and under heavy acceleration. Catalytic converters are the next option to choose from. Building a car for the track only? Cat-less is the answer. Looking to drive your vehicle both on and off the track? The 200-cell high flow catalytic converters keep you both road legal and they are virtually restriction free for continued high flow exhaust. In addition, the x-pipe is built with O2 bungs installed, ready for your sensors to be reinstalled.
Last in line is the center section with two 3" exhaust pipes available with or without resonators. Some people prefer to eliminate the resonators to get the most aggressive growl out of their exhaust as possible, and others like to keep these in place to help eliminate high RPM drone that can become slightly irritating when driving long distances. More of a personal preference, this just allows for even further exhaust customization.

In your quest for the ultimate boost and power gains from your twin-turbo N54 your plans should include a set of cat-less downpipes. Removing the catalytic converters opens up the exhaust flow and with less restriction the turbos can spin and spool easier. This means boost comes in sooner and with more force. More power is available with proper software tuning.
The CP-E downpipes are among the finest crafted turbo downpipes we have seen for the N54 engine. They use a CAM/CAD process, and automated manufacturing, that ensures a tight and precise tolerance for fitment and construction. This attention to detail and craftsmanship will never be found on the cheap auction sites. These pipes are made from 304 stainless steel, 3" diameter at the inlet and then tuned piping down to meet the stock exhaust section. The piping is not only mandrel bent but also features fewer joints and welds than other downpipes that can disrupt flow. These are a direct replacement for the stock downpipe and cat section, including fitment for Xi AWD models. No permanent modifications are made and the upgrade is completely reversible. You retain your factory oxygen sensors. Add a O2 bung kit if you wish to install a wideband sensor on the downpipe.
Pick up a Cobb AccessPort programmer to go along with these downpipes. Additional tunes are available that will get the most out of this upgrade. Not only will the Cobb AP increase horsepower and torque but special programming is available to keep fault codes, check engine lights, and limp mode from disrupting your day. It has other features too such as data logging and diagnostic fault code reading and clearing. The Cobb AP is the most sophisticated programming tool available for the 135/335 and no tuning plan should be without one.

Supersprint's tubular stainless headers for the X5 4.8 N62 engine replace the very restrictive stock manifolds and cats. With less restriction creating better flow, and relocating the catalytic converters, Supersprint has been able to gain an additional 21hp and 38ft-lbs of torque. Unlike other headers on the market, the TMS Shorty headers bolt directly to the stock BMW catalytic converter! Gaskets and new exhaust hardware are also available (see below). Stainless steel construction retains heat much better than the mild steel often found in cheaper copies of our header. This results in increased exhaust velocity. Our headers are also TIG welded on the outside and use an 'under-over' construction into the merge collector so exhaust flow is not disrupted. Don't be fooled by cheap, non stainless imitations that sell for less. Trust us - you get what you pay for. If you want the best shorty header on the market, this is the one.

These are two y-pipes that can be used to connect your performance exhaust manifolds to the rest of the exhaust system. They are made of T304 stainless steel and have bolt tightened, clamping style inlets.

These N54 downpipes feature larger piping and cat sections that are freer-flowing than the original cats for better flow and less backpressure. By removing exhaust restrictions the turbos can spool up faster which makes more boost sooner. With additional tuning, more power is available. There are downpipes that delete the primary cats and can leave the exhaust with a dirty and awful smell. These CP-E downpipes are built with a set of sport cats to keep the exhaust cleaner.
The CP-E downpipes are among the finest crafted turbo downpipes we have seen for the N54 engine. They use a CAM/CAD process, and automated manufacturing, that ensures a tight and precise tolerance for fitment and construction. This attention to detail and craftsmanship will never be found on the cheap auction sites. These pipes are made from 304 stainless steel, 3" diameter piping from the inlet to the cat, and tuned piping down to meet the stock exhaust section. These are a direct replacement for the stock downpipe and cat section, including fitment for Xi AWD models. No permanent modifications are made and the upgrade is completely reversible. You retain your factory oxygen sensors. Add a O2 bung kit if you wish to install a wideband sensor on the downpipe.
Pick up a Cobb AccessPort programmer to go along with these downpipes. Additional tunes are available that will get the most out of this upgrade. Not only will the Cobb AP increase horsepower and torque but special programming is available to keep fault codes, check engine lights, and limp mode from disrupting your day. It has other features too such as data logging and diagnostic fault code reading and clearing. The Cobb AP is the most sophisticated programming tool available for the 135/335 and no tuning plan should be without one..
