Detroit, MI. – May 28th, 2015 – Turner Motorsport arrives in the famous Motor City in preparation for a busy weekend packed full of sports car racing. Both the Tudor United SportsCar Championship and the Pirelli World Challenge will host races on the 2.35 mile street course situated on the historic Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan this weekend.

As both premier sports car racing series of North America descend onto Belle Isle for the Detroit Grand Prix, Turner Motorsport prepares to campaign a fleet of three BMW Z4 GT cars to race in a total of three races over the course of the weekend. The schedule includes two races televised live on Saturday and Sunday.

Michael Marsal and Markus Palttala will return back behind the wheel of their IHG ® Rewards Club BMW for the first time since the beginning of this month after narrowly missing a top five finish at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in round three of the Tudor Championship. The No. 97 GTD BMW of Marsal and Palttala currently sits eighth in the GTD class championship standings entering round four on Saturday afternoon.

Last year, in the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic, Markus Palttala and Dane Cameron finished sixth in the No. 94 Turner BMW Z4 after fighting to stay inside the top five briefly capturing second in the 100-minute race.

“Detroit is the only street course on the GTD schedule so I am looking forward to it,” said Michael Marsal. “I know that the car was competitive here last year but struggled with some of the point and shoot corners and bumpy transitions of Belle Isle.”

“I am happy to be back in Detroit,” added Markus Palttala. “Last year we had a strong qualifying session and a good start in the race but we were not able to hold off the harder charging Viper and Audi. The 100 minute race will be all about tire conservation and one stop strategy so I think we should have a strong weekend.”

In addition to the Tudor Championship, Turner will be campaigning both Pirelli World Challenge GT3 spec BMW Z4s in two fifty-minute sprint races. Both Bill Ziegler and Bret Curtis will return to Detroit for their first time in a BMW. Currently the No. 95 of Ziegler sits thirteenth in points while Bret Curtis’s No. 32 sits seventh in the 2015 championship.

Curtis will be looking to capture his second podium on the season after taking second place at Barber Motorsports Park in his IHG ® Rewards Club BMW Z4 back in April. Detroit will be the third and final street course on the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge schedule.

“With a huge GT field on a tight street course like this, it’s going to be crucial to stay out of trouble,” said Bret Curtis. “Street courses are tough on our car with all the lower speed corners but I think with the proper set up we should be competitive so I’m looking forward to getting out there.”

This weekend marks the first time in which three Turner Motorsport Z4s will compete on the same track on the same weekend.
