Amesbury, MA – August 18th, 2015 – With just three races remaining in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship, the No. 97 IHG Rewards Club BMW of Turner Motorsport turns to Virginia International Raceway in Danville, VA for round eight of GTD competition.

The Turner driver duo of Michael Marsal and Markus Palttala look to continue the success of the blue and yellow BMWs at the 3.27-mile 17-turn Virginia International Raceway. The highly acclaimed road course features the notable “esses” and “roller coaster” as well as the high speed straights. In the past, these unique features have played into the strengths of Turner BMWs.

Last year, the No. 94 BMW Z4 of Markus Palttala and Dane Cameron captured first place in GTD after an exciting finish in the first ever GT-only Oak Tree Grand Prix. The win put the driver duo in a three way tie for first place in the 2014 Championship point’s standings.

Since 2005, Turner has managed three wins, three second place finishes, four third place and twelve top five results at VIR.

This year, Marsal and Palttala will team up for the second annual GT-only two-hour and forty-minute Oak Tree Grand Prix behind the wheel of the No. 97 IHG Rewards Club BMW. The duo currently sits ninth in the championship after a disappointing ending to the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America just two weeks ago.

“With Road America behind us, the focus is on VIR and walking away with some points,” said Michael Marsal. “We are only ten points out of the top five so with just three races remaining every position is crucial. If the past is any sign of the future we should have a strong package here with our Turner BMW.”

With just three races remaining in the 2015 Tudor Championship season the No. 97 of Marsal and Palttala sits just ten points outside the top five in the GTD standings and 17 points outside of the top three.

“I am very happy to be back at VIR, it is a very exciting circuit to race and one of my favorites in North America,” commented Markus Palttala. “Dane and I were able to put together a strong finish last year with the help of some creative strategy so I am optimistic that our BMW will be capable of another strong finish this weekend.”

On track action for round eight of the Tudor Championship will begin on Friday, tune into LIVE timing and scoring on to keep up with the No. 97 IHG Rewards Club BMW.

Qualifying for the No. 97 BMW Z4 of Marsal and Palttala will take place on Saturday, August 22nd at 4:40pm ET and the Tudor Championship Oak Tree Grand Prix will go green on Sunday August 23rd at 1:00pm ET on Fox Sports 1.
