FOCUS TURNS TO ROAD AMERICA AS TURNER BMW M6 GT3s PREPARE FOR ROUND EIGHT

Amesbury, MA. – August 2nd, 2016 --Both Turner Motorsport M6 GT3s roll into Road America this week for the eighth round of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase on the 4.048-mile, 14-turn “National Park of Speed”.

The blue and yellow BMWs return to Road America for the first time since last year’s disappointing end to what started off as a strong race for Michael Marsal and Markus Palttala behind the wheel of the No. 97 Alvarez & Marsal BMW Z4.

The Turner Motorsport BMWs are no strangers to the podium at Road America, with appearances in three out of the last four years.

In 2014, the championship-winning duo of Dane Cameron and Markus Palttala took first at Road America in the No. 94 GTD Z4, while Bill Auberlen and Paul Dalla Lana finished on top of the podium in the No. 94 M3 GT in 2013. In 2012, the trio of Bill Auberlen, Maxime Martin and Bill Johnson took second place.

Both Marsal and Palttala in the No. 97 Alvarez & Marsal M6 GT3 and the No. 96 IHG Rewards Club M6 GT3 of Curtis and Klingmann will return to Road America this week in hopes of continuing Turner’s podium success at Road America.

“Road America is one of my favorite tracks on the calendar,” Palttala said. “Hopefully the track layout with the fast sweeping corners will suit our BMW. We are looking forward to getting the #97 on the podium soon.”

With seven rounds complete the No. 97 of Marsal and Palttala sits eighth in season championship points.

“Road American is yet another North American track I have not raced yet,” Klingmann said. “Everyone I have spoken to about Road America has said it’s one of their all-time favorite tracks so I am very much looking forward to this weekend. Our M6 has been constantly improving as we figure it out more and more each race so hopefully we will be in position to fight for another podium.”

Don Salama, Team Strategist for Turner Motorsport added, "Road America is a long track should be well suited to the M6's strengths, and with a relatively large field should create many possible options for strategy during the race. At this track we can choose a couple different strategies and leverage long full course yellows to support our drivers with many options to hopefully position them for a win.”

The No. 96 IHG Rewards Club entry of Curtis and Klingmann sits sixth in Championship points, just eleven points outside of the top-five in the GTD class with a second place finish at Sebring and a win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

“We are looking forward to getting back on track,” added Will Turner. “It was a quick turnaround to between Lime Rock and Road America so we are ready to push hard for some solid results. The race at Lime Rock didn’t exactly play out the way we planned so fingers crossed that we have better luck this weekend.”

The two-hour and forty minute WeatherTech Championship race will go green on Sunday, August 7th at 4:00pm EST and will be televised LIVE on Fox Sports 1. Qualifying will begin on Saturday, August 6th at 3:50pm EST and will be covered live on IMSA.com.
