Amesbury, MA. -- July 9th, 2017 -- The No. 96 M6 GT3 of Bret Curtis and Jens Klingmann capture their second fourth place finish on the season north of the border at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The driver pair put together two solid stints to cross the line just one second from third place on the 2.459-mile 10-turn high speed circuit to mark the first race of the second half of the 2017 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Curtis took the green flag quickly finding himself going off track after ironic contact with the No. 63 Ferrari of Christina Nielsen. Nielsen and Curtis teamed up at Le Mans just two weeks ago. The incidental contact put Curtis four positions behind on lap one. Curtis worked hard to maintain position and pass the car off to Jens Klingmann during the first pit stop.

Klingmann went on pushing hard behind the wheel of the No. 96 M6 GT3 to make up several positions before a full course caution with about twenty five minutes remaining. With 10 minutes to go, Klingmann sat fourth just one second behind the No. 63 Ferrari.

Ultimately, Klingmann was able to hold fourth and cross the line to take the checkered flag at the end of the two hour and forty minute race.

“We had a good car and strong strategy but we were just not able to make up those positions we lost on lap one,” said Jens Klingmann. “The crew did a great job with stops and strategy but at the end we just had too many positions to make up to get on the podium.”

The fourth place finish marks the third top five finish for the blue and yellow BMW in the 2017 season. Klingmann clinched a podium last weekend at Watkins Glen International driving with Justin Marks in the Sahlens Six Hours of the Glen.

“I am pretty disappointed the race had to start as it did, I felt very good starting from P8,” said Bret Curtis. “The Turner team did a great job setting up our M6 GT3 as they did last year but in the end we just could not make up the ground we needed to get another win here at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.”

With the fourth top five result the Turner Motorsport team will head to their home track of Lime Rock Park with momentum to clinch another solid finish.

The team will resume racing action on the 1.50-mile 7-turn road course in north western Connecticut on July 22nd for round 8 of the 2017 Weathertech SportsCar Championship.
