Amesbury, MA. -- October 9th, 2017 -- The No. 96 Katerra BMW M6 GT3 of Justin Marks, Jens Klingmann and Jesse Krohn took the green flag on Saturday from fifth position in the 10-Hour Petit Le Mans to kick off the final round of the 2017 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Both Justin Marks and Jesse Krohn completed a series a competitive stints to make their way to the front of the GTD field early on in the 10-Hour endurance challenge on the 2.54-mil, 12-turn road course of Road Atlanta.

Krohn saw driving duties first to begin the race with a solid opening stint making several passes to run inside the top three before passing the car over to Justin Marks. Marks went on to complete an impressive double stint with several impressive passes to make his way to the lead.

With just over four hours completed, Krohn was put back in to complete minimum drive time before passing driving duty to Jens Klingmann.

While running first, Krohn began to experience electrical issues on track ultimately bringing the No. 96 BMW into the pits with over a 5 second gap over second place. The issues proved to be terminal forcing the team back to the paddock to make repairs.

The team made quick repairs to send the No. 96 Katerra BMW back out with Klingmann behind the wheel in an attempt to capture points to clinch third place in the WeatherTech Championship season points standings ultimately retiring with four hours remaining in the race to finish fifteenth in class.

“We had all the ingredients to have a very strong result in this race,” said Justin Marks. “Our pace was quick and consistent, our BMW was dialed in and strategy was executed perfectly to keep us up front. It’s disappointing to see our race end like this but that’s part of racing”

Marks continued, “I want to thank my awesome team mates for a great year together and the entire Turner Motorsport team for their hard work and enthusiasm through it all.”

With the final race of the 2017 WeatherTech Championship complete, the No. 96 Turner BMW closed out the season fourth in the GTD Championship standings with one win, three podiums, eight top fives and ten top ten finishes to mark another successful year campaigning the BMW M6 GT3.

“Although we did not quite finish out the season on a high note, we really did have a lot of success this season with the BMW M6 GT3.” Will Turner said. “We were inside the top five in the GTD Championship for much of the season with sights on second going into the final rounds.”

Will Turner added, “I want to thank all our sponsors for their support in our 19th professional racing season and their part in over 365 professional races with BMW. We obviously could not do this without our long time partners like H&R Springs as well as BMW North America.’

With 2018 just three months away, Turner Motorsport turns focus on the 2018 racing season and plans which include the M6 GT3 as well as the brand new M4 GT4. The team is exploring and seeking new sponsor and partner opportunities as well as interested drivers to join in the long-standing success with BMW.
