In the pursuit of a really great brake pad for daily driving, we’ve tested a wide range of brake pads. After thousands of test miles, iterating through a variety of pad compounds, we’ve landed on the ideal blend for our DD23 Daily Driver ceramic pad.

Features:

Good stopping power - Brake pads need to stop your car, period, so this is key. We focused on selecting a compound that offers a healthy level of friction (both when hot and when cold) for safe, positive stopping power.

Positive initial bite - You should feel your brakes engage as you press the pedal, but it should not feel like an on/off switch! Advanced ceramic composition means you’ll enjoy a smooth transition on and off of the brake pedal, meaning your passengers will have a comfortable ride in stop-and-go traffic. We’ve hit a good balance here.

Very low-dust - Some factory-installed pads are eye-poppingly dusty, which is a no-go for us. Thanks to the composition of this ceramic pad, which is copper-free and contains a negligible amount of other metals, dust is both lighter in color and very limited in amount. We’ve improved on the “dust factor” without sacrificing on bite and stopping power as a good compromise, which will be a win for anyone who doesn’t detail daily (or anyone who does, too!)

Quiet braking - It’s not a race pad, so it shouldn’t squeal like one. Extremely low metallic composition means they will not squeal. DD23 is comfortable and quiet - both on the ears and in lack of vibration transmitted through the cabin.

Long life - This should be an obvious one. Your daily driver pads should last and last, so that was key in selecting our ideal compound. This is another benefit to having ceramic material composition versus a softer organic pad (which have higher metallic and various organic elements) and wear much faster. Ours are kind to rotors, too (no accelerated wear characteristics) for many miles of motoring.

Ceramic Brake pads have advanced a great amount and show drastic advantages over traditional metallic and semi-metallic brake pads. RSL19 A favorite of BMW's Motorsport engineers, the Pagid RSL19 compound is an endurance pad based on the RS14 Black but with less friction to improve modulation and low pedal effort. These pads work best in a heat range up to 1,100* F. The combination of friction levels, fade stability, and long life for pads and rotors makes this a favorite for club and HPDE drivers.
