Drivetrain Mounts and Upgrades for BMW 3 Series E30 (1984-1991)

From the factory, engine and transmission mounts are rubber and thus a wear component. Worn out engine or transmission mounts create sloppiness and a disconnect between the driver and your BMW's powerplant. If your vehicle is purpose built for the track, we recommend solid engine and transmission mounts. These have zero deflection, but come at the expense of added NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness). Poly engine and transmission mounts offer a good balance between OEM rubber and solid mounts for those with mixed purpose vehicles, offering great performance and connection with little sacrifice in terms of NVH.

Solid bolt through 70D polyurethane motor mounts. Recommended for race use only. These mounts are designed for a 1983-1991 E30 BMW 3-series with an M20 engine. Revshift motor mounts are made by Revshift in the U.S.A. from high-quality polyurethane. 70D polyurethane has a comparable hardness to plastics such as Delrin and UHMW. Unlike plastic, polyurethane is an elastomer which means it will return to its original shape if deformed and it will not crack. We do not recommend plastics for automotive use due to their inherent brittleness and inability to return to their original shape when deformed. Rubber seals are often hardened and damaged by excessive heat and constant temperature changes causing them to become brittle and crack or split. If your seal has split, replace it with a new Elring seal for long reliability and to prevent further problems.

These mounts are designed for an E30 with a M42 engine and an E34 with a M50 or M20 engine. Revshift polyurethane motor mounts are made in the U.S.A. from high-grade polyurethane. Revshift mounts are the most durable and reliable mounts on the market. CNC machined billet aluminum flanged ends are embedded deep in the urethane which prevents the isolated ends from separating under extreme loads. Utilizing class 14.9 alloy steel removable screws these mounts will hold your engine in place for a lifetime. To further ensure the strength of these mounts we form the threads with a forming tap which creates denser and stronger threads in the billet aluminum end pieces. These mounts have removable screws for ease of installation. We recommend using Loctite on the threads during installation.
