Tasked with keeping the vehicles rear end firmly mounted while absorbing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) factory rubber subframe bushings were engineered to provide a balance of control while keeping the ride quality soft and supple. As a factory bushings age, they become brittle and begin to harden. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow excess play, or movement in the subframe. This is typically felt by a sudden jerk or "thunking" noise under acceleration and is a leading cause of "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushings with full polyurethane this play is eliminated since the subframe is being held in place by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. Additionally, the inherent stiffness of the urethane material translates body forces much more directly. This means steering and acceleration inputs from the driver are effectively transferred to the wheels and vital road information is transmitted properly from the wheels to the driver.

Powerflex street bushings are ideal for street driven vehicles and those that see occasional autocross or track time. Engineered to perform, Powerflex performance polyurethane bushings offer a supreme level of control, while still providing enough comfort for the street, with advanced polyurethane that reduces NVH that often accompanies lesser bushings. Expect improved steering feel, turn in, more responsive handling and overall improved chassis composure with Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings.

Poweflex is a leading manufacturer of aftermarket suspension bushings. Using state of the art design and manufacturing, all replacement bushings are engineered to out-perform and out-last the ones that came in the car. The E30 rear subframe is held into the chassis by two bolts going through these rubber mounts. A lot of suspension motion, chassis flex, and driveline torque has to go through these two points, which makes them notorious for failure. When they do, the subframe will move around, playing havoc with your suspension's alignment and settings and making a very annoying clunk. These are direct replacement rubber mounts, sold as a pair.

These are Gargistic's original poly rear subframe bushings and are modified replacements that will not only reduce play in the rear suspension components substantially compared to the old and mushy OEM rubber bushings, but the "raised" design will move the subframe up 12mm to help correct some of the unwanted camber and toe that comes from lowering an E30. This has a similar effect to raising the suspension so the rear geometry resembles that of a stock height E30. The 12mm raised bushing's average geometry correction (camber and toe) is from -5 degrees to -1.5 degrees depending on your suspension setup. These bushings are slightly stiffer than the OEM units which will cause a tiny bit more NVH to be transferred through the chassis, but the benefits greatly outweigh the small sacrifice in comfort. 80A is the softest poly bushing in Garagistic's lineup and are perfect for a street performance E30 that will see the occasional autocross or track day. We highly recommend professional installation as these will require a press to install as well as remove your old bushings NOTE: When installing Garagistic raised subframe bushings, the differential mount will no longer line up with the mounting provision on the chassis, but there are a couple of solutions for this! The first option is to install extended studs and spacers onto the differential. This will effectively space the differential back down 12mm from the raised subframe back into the factory position. This will allow the use of a standard centered differential bushing and maintains the factory driveline geometry. The second option is to simply run an offset differential bushing. This will allow the differential to be mounted to the subframe in the factory orientation and the repositioned hole in the differential bushing to line up with the factory bracket. This will change the driveline geometry in the rear! Garagistic have used both methods with success on street and track applications. Sway bars transmit cornering forces from the outside wheels to the inside wheels, helping to keep the vehicle flat during cornering. This, in turn, reduces body roll and improves the driver's cornering confidence. OEM rubber sway bar bushings are designed with comfort in mind, allowing the sway bar to articulate while permitting additional movement, leading to less-than-ideal bar retention and causes unnecessary body roll.

Powerflex polyurethane sway bar bushings are firmer than factory rubber bushings, reducing body roll and keeping sway bars in check. Polyurethane bushings won't slop around like OEM bushings, allowing sway bars to function at their fullest potential.

A BMWs sub-frame is the heart of the suspension - as the subframe twists and shifts under load, all of the suspension mounting points also move. The rear suspension feels loose and lacks precision. As rubber or hydroelastic bushings wear, the bushing deflection gets worse. If you have a track driven BMW, you're putting even more strain on weak bushings. The solution is a stiffer and more durable material. Even BMW has moved to solid mounts on the modern F10 M5 and F8X M3/M4. These fully solid 318ti/Z3 aluminum mounts have zero deflection - the subframe does not move at all. The rest of the suspension can work as designed and maintain the proper alignment and motion ratios. The driver will notice the difference as the car is more stable and the handling is more precise. Although we designed these for use in our racecars, they can work on the street so long as the driver can tolerate some additional noise, vibration, and harshness. These mounts are CNC machined in the USA and made with high-grade aluminum.

The subframe provides mounting for your rear suspension. The subframe connects to the body with bushings to absorb vibration at all mounting locations. These bushings absorb any vibration that would normally be transmitted to the cabin and keep the subframe solid. They also provide a solid mounting location to keep everything tight.

The Powerflex Rear Beam Bushing for the BMW E30 3 Series (1984-1991) is designed to enhance the performance and handling characteristics of this classic vehicle by replacing the stock rubber bushings with high-quality polyurethane alternatives.

Key Features:

  1. Durable Polyurethane Construction: Powerflex bushings are crafted from high-performance polyurethane, which provides superior durability compared to OEM rubber. This material is resistant to wear from heat, oil, and road conditions, ensuring longevity and consistent performance over time.

  2. Enhanced Handling and Stability: By minimizing flex and movement in the rear suspension, Powerflex bushings significantly improve the stability of the rear end during acceleration and cornering. This results in sharper handling, better grip, and an overall more responsive driving experience.

  3. Performance Options:

    • Road Series: This option balances improved handling with comfort, making it suitable for daily driving. It enhances stability and responsiveness while maintaining a level of NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) that is acceptable for everyday use.
    • Black Series: Designed for motorsport enthusiasts, the Black Series provides maximum stiffness and control. This version is ideal for track use, delivering superior performance but may increase NVH, making it less suitable for casual driving.
  4. Direct Fitment: These bushings are designed as direct replacements for the OEM bushings, ensuring a straightforward installation process. Replacing worn bushings with Powerflex units can restore and even enhance the handling characteristics of the E30.

  5. Longevity and Reliability: The robust construction of Powerflex bushings means they can withstand the rigors of both daily driving and high-performance use. They are less likely to degrade or crack over time, offering a reliable long-term solution for E30 owners.

Applications:

  • BMW E30 3 Series (1984-1991)

Upgrading to Powerflex Rear Beam Bushings is an excellent investment for BMW E30 enthusiasts looking to improve their vehicle's handling, stability, and overall driving experience. Whether for spirited driving on winding roads or for participation in motorsport events, these bushings provide a significant enhancement in performance, making the classic E30 feel more agile and responsive.
