Sway bar bushings are located along the center of the bar. When they wear out, excess play is introduced which causes noise. Turner Motorsport carries OE BMW rubber bushings as well as high quality aftermarket for those looking to upgrade.

Control arm bushings play a key role in connecting the wheels to the chassis of the vehicle. Tasked with keeping suspension geometry in check while absorbing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) factory rubber bushings were engineered to provide a balance of comfort and control. As a factory bushing ages, it becomes brittle and begins to harden. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow excess play in the suspension joint. This is typically felt by a sudden jerk forward after the car comes to a stop and is a leading cause of "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushing with a full polyurethane unit or using a bushing insert, this play is eliminated since the suspension joint is being supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. Additionally, the inherent stiffness of the urethane material translates body forces much more directly. This means steering inputs from the driver are effectively transferred to the wheels and vital road information is transmitted properly from the wheels to the driver.

Powerflex street bushings are ideal for street driven vehicles and those that see occasional autocross or track time. Need bushings for a dedicated track car? Powerflex Black Series bushings are the ultimate in track and race bushings. Featuring 95A durometer polyurethane, Black Series bushings are 25% stiffer than street bushings. Engineered to perform, Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings offer a supreme level of control, while still providing enough comfort for the street, with advanced polyurethane that reduces NVH that often accompanies lesser bushings. Expect improved steering feel, turn in, more responsive handling and overall improved chassis composure with Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings.

Sway bars transmit cornering forces from the outside wheels to the inside wheels, helping to keep the vehicle flat during cornering. This in turn reduces body roll and improves the driver's cornering confidence. OEM rubber sway bar bushings are designed with comfort in mind, allowing the sway bar to articulate while permitting additional movement, leading to less-than-ideal bar retention and causes unnecessary body roll. Powerflex polyurethane sway bar bushings are firmer than factory rubber bushings, reducing body roll and keeping sway bars in check. Polyurethane bushings won't slop around like OEM bushings, allowing sway bars to function at their fullest potential. Poweflex is a leading manufacturer of aftermarket suspension bushings. The Powerflex silicone grease is the only lubricant we suggest for long, squeak free operation. The lubricant contains silicone that resists heat and water and keeps a more constant viscosity to allow it to stay in the bushing as temperatures increase. The lubricant also does not lose it's lubrication properties over time like an anti-seize type lubricant. Each pack will lube 2 large bushings or 4 small.

The BMW E30 3 Series Front Sway Bar Bushing (22mm) is a vital suspension component for the E30 models produced from 1984 to 1991. These bushings play an important role in the performance of the front sway bar, enhancing stability and handling during dynamic driving situations.

Key Features:

  1. Tailored for 22mm Sway Bars:

    • Specifically designed for E30 models with a 22mm front sway bar, ensuring a precise fit that optimizes performance and reduces body roll.
  2. Functionality:

    • These bushings connect the sway bar to the chassis, allowing it to effectively minimize body roll when cornering. This connection enhances the vehicle’s stability and handling characteristics, resulting in a more confident driving experience.
  3. Material Options:

    • Available in rubber and polyurethane:
      • Rubber bushings provide a comfortable and quiet ride but may wear out more quickly over time.
      • Polyurethane bushings offer increased durability and performance, minimizing flex for improved handling and responsiveness, making them a preferred choice for performance enthusiasts.
  4. Performance Enhancement:

    • Replacing worn or degraded bushings can significantly improve handling dynamics, resulting in sharper steering response and better overall control during aggressive driving.
  5. Compatibility:

    • Designed specifically for the BMW E30 3 Series, these bushings help preserve the classic driving dynamics that E30 enthusiasts cherish, making them ideal for both everyday driving and spirited outings.
  6. Installation Process:

    • Installing new sway bar bushings typically involves detaching the sway bar from the suspension system. While some experienced DIYers can manage this task, professional installation is often recommended for optimal alignment and performance.

Benefits of Replacement or Upgrade:

  • Enhanced Cornering Performance: New bushings improve the effectiveness of the sway bar, resulting in less body roll and improved cornering stability.
  • Increased Steering Feedback: Fresh bushings provide better communication between the vehicle and driver, enhancing the overall driving experience.
  • Longevity: Upgrading to polyurethane bushings increases the lifespan of the sway bar components, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

In summary, the BMW E30 3 Series Front Sway Bar Bushing (22mm) is an essential component for maintaining the performance and handling of these classic BMWs. Whether you’re replacing old bushings or upgrading to polyurethane for enhanced durability and performance, ensuring these components are in top condition is crucial for enjoying the legendary driving dynamics of the E30.
