Robust chassis-mounted skid plate with multi-piece structural reinforcements. Compatible with M20, and M5x/S5x swapped cars that have the low-hanging E34 swap oil pan!
We've all heard the E30 horror stories of smashed oil pans and engine damage that follows. You have a few options, either you drive extremely carefully and hope nothing happens, or take the proactive approach and buy a quality skid plate.
Our skid plate offers a range of features, including chassis mounting, structural reinforcement, compatibility with 24v swaps, provisions for airflow, and acting as a splash guard. Whether shielding against everyday road hazards or ensuring stability on the track, this skid plate serves as a comprehensive protection plan to keep your E30 secure and road-ready.
In addition to its protective role, the skid plate contributes to the overall quality of your vehicle by enhancing chassis stiffness. By providing structural reinforcement through its tubular steel and A36 steel supports, the skid plate becomes an integral part of your car's framework. This added stiffness can improve handling and stability, ensuring that your vehicle responds confidently to different driving conditions.
Featuring two 1.5" outer diameter A36 steel supports that mount directly on the chassis rails, these serve as front mounts for the provided A36 tubular steel "halo," which securely mounts to the front subframe. When bolted together, the uprights and tubular halo double as a rigid front subframe brace, providing an additional bonus.
Developed on both a stock 325is (M20) and an S54 swap car, our engineers dedicated time to ensure compatibility with both standard and 24v swapped cars. Constructed with tubular steel and 1/8" thick 5052 aluminum, our skid plate comes as a comprehensive 4-piece kit with included hardware for easy installation and incredible durability.

Compatibility:
At this time the confirmed vehicle fitment is standard M20 cars (325i, IS, E, and ES) and all E30's sporting a 24v swap with the E34 525 M50 oil pan.
Though we are happy with the fitment and utility of our skid plate we are not done testing. If you or someone you know has a 4-cylinder or non-BMW engine swap please reach out to partner and help expand our fitment to all compatible E30s.

Our E30 chassis-mounted skid plate was designed, engineered, tested and quality inspected by our Research and Development team at Turner. Nothing but the highest level of precision and quality through leading-edge product development technology including FARO laser scanning for reverse engineering and quality inspection, SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling, rapid prototyping utilizing our in-house 3D printer and rigorous long term product testing.
BMWs, just like many other makes, only include plastic under-body shields and are often vulnerable on the underside of the engine bay to debris in the road, track, and off road rally courses. When the vehicles are lowered, they also become vulnerable to damage when bottoming out on high spots in the road, drive ways, and other business entrances. This can pose a serious problem if the oil pan and other sensitive components are damaged when this happens. Cracks in the oil pan could result in a destroyed motor if the oil is allowed to completely leak out and any number of bushings, steering components, or exposed fluid lines could easily be ripped out of place, compromising the safety and control of the vehicle.
To prevent this, Race Skids provides a range of Heavy Duty Skid Plates for many classic BMW models. Constructed from heavy duty 10-gauge steel, these skid plates provide a much needed upgrade to under-body protection, helping to absorb the the impact of debris or the road itself to the bottom of the vehicle. This helps ensure that the oil pan and other components are left completely intact, keeping you on the road with no worries.
An added benefit of these Heavy Duty Skid Plates is a black powder coated surface. This protects the plate itself from oxidation and corrosion, gives the plate a smooth scratch resistant surface, and makes it much easier to clean and maintain, allowing you to simply spray or wipe away built up dirt, salt, or any other build up.
Included with the Skid Plate is all needed mounting hardware. These too are corrosion resistant to allow for easy installation and removal of the skid plate for needed maintenance to the vehicle.
