The fuel pump is held into the tank with a retaining lock ring. Most people would take an extension or punch and tap out the ring with a hammer. But that's the wrong way to do it. You could damage the lock ring, or worse, the tank itself. This handy tool is toothed to match the lock ring and takes a standard 1/2 drive ratchet or small extension. Twist the ratchet and the lock ring comes un-done cleanly and smoothly. A hefty tool that pays for itself over and over. Fits most BMWs from 1988-2013. Also has application for MINI and Porsche.

Automatic transmissions are reliable, shift smoothly, and can last without issue so long as they are properly maintained. Over time, the transmission fluid becomes thick and the filter becomes contaminated with small metal particles. This can cause excess wear, high transmission operating temperatures, and eventual failure. To prevent this we recommend changing your filter, fluid, and seals to ensure your transmission continues to operate flawlessly. We recommend filter and fluid changes every 50,000 miles. The external temperature sensor on a BMW is placed within the underbody plastics that extend very close to the road. As a result it's easy to damage by rolling into a low curb or parking lot tire stop. The first sign you may have a problem with your external temperature sensor is if you have a really low reading. This is caused by the sensor either being damaged, missing or having an open circuit; the wires leading to the sensor may have torn off in an impact.

Apex ARC8 18x10" Square Wheel Set
If you're tracking your BMW you should absolutely have stickier rubber on wider wheels. Most BMWs have a staggered wheel set with a narrow front wheel that results in understeer. Adding a wider wheel will get you more rubber where it counts - reducing understeer and improving initial turn-in. Square wheel sets of the same size and offset also allow you to rotate tires around to get the most life out of pricey track tires. We have put this wheel set together using four APEX 10.0" wheels in a ET25 offset. A 10" wheel allows for 275-285 performance or R-comp tires. This is a very aggressive offset and custom alignment settings will be required. Trimming of plastic fender liners or fender rolling may also be required depending on tire size/type and ride height.
APEX light alloy wheels are the next evolution in flow-forged wheel technology for BMWs. Flow-forming is a semi-forging process that produces a wheel typically stronger than a traditional cast wheel yet is still light weight. The wheels are around 10lbs lighter per wheel than a comparable factory wheel! That's reduced unsprung weight that improves all aspects of performance. The spokes and barrel have been designed to allow generous clearance for big brakes. In other words, these wheels are very impressively engineered and look great too! The design is based on classic motorsport themes that blend with BMW styling and appearance. These wheels look right at home on many BMW models. Note: careful consideration of wheel width, offset and tire sizing must be observed when choosing and installing larger wheels. Adding larger wheels may lead to rubbing on suspension components or bodywork. Wheel spacers, new alignment settings, inside fender modifications, or other adjustments may be required.
