BMW Racing Brake Pads for BMW 7 Series E66 (2002-2008)

Race pads work in the temperature ranges commonly seen from repeated braking from high speeds on the racetrack. It's the repeated hard braking from very high speeds that requires a very special brake pad. Nearly all street and mixed-use pads will become ineffective at serious track speeds. Racing brake pads are made up of metallic, ceramic, and composite materials that better manage escalating temperatures while also providing exceptional braking performance. Race pads work within a prescribed temperature range (usually in excess of 600*F) - seldom seen on the street. Rotor wear, especially when cold, is significantly more than any other pad. These pads also produce a lot of brake dust which is also corrosive to paint finishes (wheels, fenders, etc). However, when in their temperature ranges, these pads stop better than anything else.

Racing brake pads only work well when matched as a front and rear set. We do not recommend using only a front set when on the track. Although in some situations, mixing race compounds can be done to achieve specific results (brake balance, wheel lock-up, turn-in, etc).

The latest in the Yellow line takes all of the RSL29 characteristics and adds a bit more aggressive behavior. Friction levels go up for more initial bite and better fade resistance. Modulation and release stays close to RSL29 levels. Pad and rotor wear is a little more than on the previous Yellows but still within reasonable levels and the RSL1 is still considered an extended endurance pad. Its development stemming from GT classes at Le Mans and Nürburgring.

Since Pagid pads tend to "out-gas" we recommend using these pads with a new gas-slotted or cross-drilled rotor for the best performance. Pagid brake pads are not compatible with previously used rotors, especially if used with a carbon or Kevlar based race pad.

Hawk Blue racing pads are among the most aggressive track pads on the market. The formula for the friction material ensures a high level of braking performance especially at elevated temperatures. Hawk Blue pads have been a favorite of club racers for over a decade. Few pads can match their torque output at race temps. These pads do not work well when cold and will be abrasive to your rotors.

Hawk DTC-30 brake pads fill a spot between the entry-level HP Plus pads and an all-out race pad like the Hawk Blue or Pagid Orange. If you started out with HP Plus but feel like you are ready to advance to a more aggressive pad these are an excellent choice. The DTC-30 pads have greater torque output than an HP Plus and a very consistent torque curve which makes them more capable during hard track use than an HP Plus. These are intended for advanced users but should not be considered all-out race pads (unless used to balance brake bias).

The Hawk DTC (Dynamic Torque Control) compound offers the highest friction coefficients of any Hawk pad. The DTC pads offer high torque with aggressive and controllable initial bite, superior modulation and release characteristics, and excellent torque control. DTC-30 compound is often used as a replacement to Hawk Blue when more torque is wanted.

RSL19 A favorite of BMW's Motorsport engineers, the Pagid RSL19 compound is an endurance pad based on the RS14 Black but with less friction to improve modulation and low pedal effort. The Hawk HT10 compound combines the high torque levels of the aggressive Hawk Blue with a revised friction compound that makes it easier to modulate and wears nicer on rotors. The HT10 remains consistent over a wide range of temps and can even work when cold. It's been a popular pad for racers looking for the performance of a Hawk Blue but is not as harsh on rotors.
