For GA6HP19Z Automatic Transmissions
Automatic transmissions are reliable, shift smoothly, and can last without issue so long as they are properly maintained. Over time, the transmission fluid becomes thick and the filter becomes contaminated with small metal particles. This can cause excess wear, high transmission operating temperatures, and eventual failure. To prevent this we recommend changing your filter, fluid, and seals to ensure your transmission continues to operate flawlessly. We recommend filter and fluid changes every 50,000 miles.
NOTE: This filter fits GA6HP19Z automatic transmissions. This will NOT fit the GA6L45R transmission. Please check your transmission to ensure it is the correct type.

While BMW suggests that the ZF transmission utilizes a lifetime fluid, it’s important to understand that “lifetime” refers to the warranty, not the transmission's operational lifespan. Over time, the fluid degrades, becoming less effective at transferring heat and lubricating internal components. This degradation can lead to premature wear, resulting in louder operation, harder shifts, and potentially severe internal damage.
ZF recommends service intervals of 50,000 miles or 8 years—whichever comes first—for 6HP transmissions. By using OEM ZF components in this kit, BMW owners can ensure that only the highest quality factory parts and fluids are used, keeping the transmission running smoothly for years to come.
