BMW Driveshafts for BMW X Series E70 (2007-2013)

Got a vibration through the driveline on your BMW? Did you know that the u-joints are not replaceable on a factory driveshaft? Our remanufactured driveshafts allow for future replacement of u-joints and are rebuilt to a higher specification than the factory driveshaft. We start with OEM u-joints and then machine yokes onto the driveshaft to allow for future u-joint replacement. All bushings, universal joints, center bearings are replaced with new hardware (flex discs are not included but available separately). The whole unit is then dynamically balanced on a precision Axiline Balancer.

The stock center support bearing carrier is designed to reduce NVH to the cabin by loosely holding the center bearing with a flimsy rubber bushing. During launches and shifts, the driveshaft is allowed to travel off-center, decreasing throttle response and causing oscillations through the drivetrain. As they age, the carrier rubber sags and dry rots, ruining the driveshaft alignment. Fix or prevent this common issue with JXB Performance's Driveshaft Center Support Bearing Upgrade! JXB utilizes a simple but extremely effective 2-piece design which allows you to install this upgrade and replace bushings with ease. The stock center support carrier is simply cut away, allowing the JXB bushings to "clamp" down on the driveshaft bearing and hold the driveshaft securely in place, maintaining driveshaft alignment at all times. Two bushing options are available for this kit, Street and Track, both of which are many times better than the stock bushings: The street bushings absorb most of the NVH from the drivetrain. Some light NVH is possible at some speeds in the form of a soft hum. (With a modified exhaust or windows down, you’ll probably never hear it) The track bushings are for those who want no-compromise drivetrain performance. These may create a substantial amount of cabin noise. Not sure which is for you? Try them both, they’re interchangeable! Installation does not require the removal of the driveshaft. The 2-part design clamps around the OEM bearing. The old carrier must be removed, so a cutting tool is required. Looking for replacement or additional bushings? See T#4799658 for replacement street bushings and T#4799659 for replacement track bushings.

The carrier bearing is essential for supporting the center of the drive shaft between the transmission and the differential. With mileage and age, bearing failure can occur, resulting in noticeable howling noises. Additionally, degradation of the rubber mount may lead to increased vibrations from the drive shaft.

During the disassembly of the drive shaft, it's crucial to carefully mark each section, as they are balanced as a cohesive unit. This meticulous approach ensures seamless reassembly and preserves the optimal performance of your vehicle's drivetrain.

URO Parts offers more than 8,000 high-quality spare parts, many of which are specifically designed to replace factory BMW components. Their business was founded on the premise of producing parts that adhere to the highest standards of precision, materials, and workmanship. Each part is closely evaluated by a team of industry professionals to determine how to offer the best blend of durability, function, and price. If you're looking for quality replacement components at a reasonable price, look no further than URO Parts.

Located between the transmission and driveshaft, the giubo (also guibo) joint is a flexible rubber drive coupling that joins driveline components to reduce vibration, while allowing a limited range of flexibility. Joint rubber deteriorates over time from torque stress and heat hardening. A failed joint is a common cause of driveline noise and vibration. This joint should be inspected during normal maintenance for signs of heat cracking and tears in the rubber. Failed joints should be replaced before they cause additional damage and expense or disable the vehicle.

The stock center support bearing carrier utilizes an extremely thin layer of rubber to secure the driveshaft, allowing for minimal movement to effectively insulate the cabin from noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). However, this design is less effective at maintaining proper bearing alignment under heavy loads. Over time, it allows the bearing to gradually sag, disrupting the driveshaft alignment and introducing play in the driveline during gear shifts and throttle application. The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) rubber bushing has a tendency to sag, become brittle, and eventually deteriorate, resulting in dry rot and cracking. Even in well-maintained vehicles, the stock bushing can develop cracks in as little as 5-10 years. When the bushing loses its integrity, it can lead to pronounced vibrations, clunking noises, and increased stress on the bearing. Adding to the challenge, the stock carrier is permanently molded onto the center support bearing, making replacement a difficult task that typically necessitates specialized tools.
