The valve cover is responsible for sealing the internal workings of the engines' top end. Most vehicles require a replacement gasket at some point or another and newer models have plastic valve covers that get brittle and crack with age.
Maintaining proper crankcase ventilation and positive oil retention is crucial for the performance and longevity of BMW’s high-output twin-turbo 4.4L V8 engines. Extreme engine bay heat cycles cause original plastic covers to warp and internal PCV components to degrade, compromising engine seals and vacuum pressures.
