This is an OEM INA mechanical tensioner for the serpentine belts on BMW's with the N54 engine. This tensioner keeps the belt for the alternator, power steering and Air Conditioning taught to provide maximum performance of each system.

BMW uses a lot of plastic in their engine components to save weight and money. Unfortunately, plastic is damaged easily and the factory oil filter cap needs a special tool to remove. This aluminum cap is much more sturdy and features a standard 19mm hex post on the top. 19mm is also the size of your engine oil drain plug, reducing the number of tools that you need to complete an oil change. This cap is designed to use the original o-ring seal so no special parts are required. You only have to remove the original 'filter cage' from the original cap and transfer it to the new aluminum cap. The satin black anodize blends in with the rest of your engine bay making this a smart and subtle upgrade.

The OEM plastic Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve does not hold pressure well, even when brand new. This means that when you are in boost conditions, the highly pressurized PCV valve leaks charged air back into the crankcase. Depending on the condition of your PCV valve, this can range from irritating to dangerous. Additionally, if your valve cover is cracked, loose, or has a bad gasket, you are likely experiencing a pressure leak either internally or externally, as well as potential oil loss issues. ECS Tuning now offers a solid aluminum PCV valve upgrade designed to address these issues by preventing leaks and outlasting the standard BMW-designed PCV! The internal components of this aluminum PCV valve fit tighter than the OE design and can withstand significantly more abuse, perfect for high mileage N54s, N54s that have been tuned, or N54s with upgraded turbos (larger twin or big single turbo builds). The guide rails in your timing set keep everything tracking properly. Because it is made out of a plastic-like material, years of abrasion can wear parts of it away. This can cause the chain can to become slightly loose and cause a chain 'slap' or rattle noise. Replace your damaged timing chain tensioner and guide rails to keep timing chain noise to a minimum. Located on the outside of the timing chain guide that keeps tension on the chain.
