Our turbo upgrades range from stock turbos rebuilt with stronger internals to all-new, ground-up turbo upgrades. BMW turbos such as the N54 are capable of really impressive power numbers on stock engine internals but the factory turbos lack the precise tolerances and reliability that an upgraded unit will deliver. In other words, the stock turbos can only do so much and if big power (>400whp) is your goal a turbo upgrade must be in your plans. Our partners are leading experts in turbo technology and upgrades. The early N55 turbocharger is notorious for pneumatic wastegate actuator failure, a common issue that triggers frustrating boost errors and persistent check engine lights. Because BMW does not provide this specific component as a standalone replacement, owners are often left with few official repair options. Pure Turbos solves this problem with an upgraded actuator engineered to fix the inherent weaknesses of the original equipment while simultaneously boosting the efficiency of the entire turbocharging system. One of the primary benefits of this enhanced actuator is its ability to deliver approximately 2 psi of additional boost compared to the factory unit while maintaining the same Wastegate Duty Cycle. By optimizing how exhaust gases are managed and bypassed, this component allows the engine to generate more power without requiring more effort from the electronics. This increased pressure translates directly into sharper throttle response and a noticeable jump in horsepower, making it an essential upgrade for drivers who want to restore their vehicle's reliability while enjoying a more aggressive and responsive driving experience.
