The most common reason fuel pumps fail is a plugged or restricted fuel filter, which makes the pump work harder. When a fuel pump starts to go bad, you may experience lack of power, no start, bucking, sputtering, or the engine may stop running. This low-pressure fuel sensor is commonly a cause of an "Increased Emissions" warning on the idrive and for check engine (SES) lights on BMW's with the N54 6 cylinder turbo engine or the S65 V8 engine in the M3. It will also fit a limited number of cars with the N55 engine. This sensor can be traced to a number of drivability issues, including cold start running problems, misfires, stumbling, hesitations, and overall rough running. You will likely have a code for the misfires, rich condition, or for the sensor itself. In some cases, the combination of codes can bring about a limp mode. Replacing this sensor is an easy and inexpensive first step if you're having any of these issues. From 1974 to 2019, Bavarian Autosport was one of the premier vendors for BMW and MINI auto parts. This is a complete plug and play kit to install a Bluetooth ethanol sensor in your E-Series BMW. (Check compatibility for your platform below) This kit replaces the stock fuel lines from the fuel tank to the engine bay with an upgrade -6an E85 compatible fuel line and adds an ethanol sensor and Bluetooth analyzer to monitor your ethanol content. This kit features a 0-5 volt analog output that integrates with the JB4, analog gauge, or any other ECU or tuner that supports 0-5 volt input. All of these kits utilize a custom billet aluminum fittings to integrate with the stock fittings so no modifications are needed. For your fuel line upgrade, choose the option that supports your current configuration. HPFP to the fuel tank: (Stock) This upgrade replaces both stock fuel lines with one upgraded continuous fuel line from the fuel tank to the HPFP and adds the ethanol sensor. Port Injection to the fuel tank: If you are running our port injection kit, this upgrade replaces the stock fuel lines from the tank to the engine bay, integrates the ethanol sensor and then utilizes a Y adapter to supply the HPFP and PI with fuel. Our custom fittings remove those tee's and extra fittings for a cleaner high flow setup. Non-Fuel-It! port injection to fuel tank: Choose this option if you are running a port injection kit that we did not manufacture or sell. This kit includes a longer 18" feedline from the Y to the port injection rail. You then cut the feed line to the length you need and install the included -6an female fitting or -6an female elbow to make the connection to your port injection rail. *These kits are available for off-road use only *Ethanol Sensors don't actually read the ethanol content, the readings are based on the absence of gasoline, so if your fuel is contaminated your ethanol readings may be artificially elevated. *For the BMW N54 E-series JB4 platform connect the white wire to position #15 on the JB4 25 pin harness. Select WMI Ethanol Setup option 1 to enable pin location 15/16 flex fuel input. *For the BMW N55 E-series JB4 platform connect the white wire to position #16 on the JB4 25 pin harness. Select WMI Ethanol Setup option 1 to enable pin location 15/16 flex fuel input. *Ethanol Sensors don't actually read the ethanol content, the readings are based on the absence of gasoline, so if your fuel is contaminated your ethanol readings may be artificially elevated.
