While BMW has recently implemented 'Lifetime' fluid on most current models, we feel that it is critical to change the transmission filter and flush the fluid at least every 50,000 miles. Over the life of a vehicle, the transmission can often be overlooked when performing routine maintenance. If left unserviced, the automatic transmission fluid will break down, causing the valve body and filter to become contaminated with deposits and sludge. This will lead to poor shifting, slipping, and ultimately, transmission failure. Kit Includes: OEM ZF Automatic transmission filter OEM ZF Oil Pan Gasket & Installation Hardware OEM ZF Drain plug with sealing washer OEM ZF Fill plug with sealing washer 7 Liters of ZF Lifeguard 8 Fluid NOTE: Depending on the model, an additional liter of fluid may be necessary if you are draining your oil cooler or removing the valve body. As per ZF's recommendations, Turner Motorspot suggests performing a full service on your 8HP automatic transmission every 50,000 miles. If your vehicle is modified and makes more power than stock or if your vehicle is regularly track-driven, we recommend shorter 30,000-mile service intervals. This will ensure your transmission's fluid is free from contamination which will help extend the life of internal transmission components like clutch packs and solenoids.

This fluid helps reduce friction and prevent premature wear from metal-on-metal contact. To maintain optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your transfer case, we recommend draining and refilling the fluid approximately every 60,000 miles.

Over time, this fluid becomes contaminated by particulate from clutch and gear components wearing down. This contamination reduces the fluid's ability to act as a lubricant, eventually leading to increased wear and tear within the transmission. To prevent excess wear and keep your transmission in top shape, the fluid and filter should be replaced regularly. As per ZF's recommendations, we suggest performing a full service on your 8HP automatic transmission every 50,000 miles. If your vehicle has been modified to produce more power than stock or if it is regularly track-driven, we recommend shorter 30,000-mile service intervals. This will ensure your transmission's fluid is free from contamination, which will help extend the life of internal transmission components, such as clutch packs and solenoids.
