Parking Brakes - also know and emergency brakes, or hand brakes, help to keep your BMW stationary when parking or on an incline. Over time the parking brake shoes tend to wear out making it more difficult to secure the car. We recommend inspecting the parking brake shoes, cables and associated hardware any time rear rotors are replaced.
Hydraulic handbrakes are a necessity for any track car that will be drifted or will need the rear brakes isolated for any reason. The stock hand brakes aren't nearly powerful enough to apply the force needed for ample stopping power due to their drum brake design, the brake cable tends to stretch and snap over time, and if the button accidentally catches, the hand brake may lock of the wheels longer than desired.

This switch is located in your vehicle's center console and operates the electro-mechanical parking brake along with the AutoHold function of your vehicle. If you're having problems engaging your vehicle's parking brake, this could be the culprit.
