This axle-back exhaust system is manufactured entirely from titanium. This makes this system ideal for cutting weight while being structurally stronger than the OE exhaust system. The engineers at Akrapovic have retained the dual mode exhaust flap control from the original system. This allows the vehicle to have a more civilized, but deeper than stock sound at low speed. However, at higher RPM (or when selecting the S mode on the gearshift) the muffler is bypassed, creating a deep and sporty sound much more in keeping with the personality of the car. The included exhaust pipe tips are made completely from titanium OR a carbon fiber/titanium composite to add a high-end, refined style. Performance has not been left out of the design. The system dramatically reduces backpressure and is an excellent starting point for further engine tuning or turbo modifications. Even when installed on an otherwise stock vehicle a gain of 7.3 horsepower and 17.4 Nm/12.8 lbs-ft of torque are achieved. Furthermore, a weight reduction of 3.0 kg/6.6 lbs. is realized. The OEM catalysts are retained, so no reflashing of the ECU is required and the check engine light will not be triggered. This is a replacement Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor Located on the charge air cooler. The MAP controls the amount of fuel that goes through the injectors based on the pressure of air at the intake manifold. If your vehicle is giving you a MAP code, replace it immediately to ensure you get the best gas mileage and performance. It is common for this part to fail slowly and cause poor fuel mileage and hampered performance. When it fails, the vehicle will stutter and stall as it falls into a limp mode. One way to check if your MAP is bad is to unplug the connector before starting your car. If it idles well (compared to a previous poor idle), your MAP sensor likely needs to be replaced. If you let this maintenance part go, your fuel economy will suffer as too much fuel is going into the engine and not being burned. A great way to give your vehicle an efficiency boost.
