What this means for you is increased tire wear and more frequent replacement, as a “full alignment” consists only of rudimentary toe-angle adjustment. For over forty years, K-MAC has been hard at work developing a solution to this problem with patented innovations in camber/caster plates and bushing kits, allowing easy adjustment and a true “full four-wheel alignment” to be performed by any competent shop. These bushings make camber adjustments possible for the first time, and improve the ability to complete toe angle adjustments. This axle-back exhaust system is manufactured entirely from titanium. This makes this system ideal for cutting weight while being structurally stronger than the OE exhaust system. The engineers at Akrapovic have retained the dual mode exhaust flap control from the original system. This allows the vehicle to have a more civilized, but deeper than stock sound at low speed. However, at higher RPM (or when selecting the S mode on the gearshift) the muffler is bypassed, creating a deep and sporty sound much more in keeping with the personality of the car. The included exhaust pipe tips are made completely from titanium OR a carbon fiber/titanium composite to add a high-end, refined style. Performance has not been left out of the design. The system dramatically reduces backpressure and is an excellent starting point for further engine tuning or turbo modifications. Even when installed on an otherwise stock vehicle a gain of 7.3 horsepower and 17.4 Nm/12.8 lbs-ft of torque are achieved. Furthermore, a weight reduction of 3.0 kg/6.6 lbs. is realized. The OEM catalysts are retained, so no reflashing of the ECU is required and the check engine light will not be triggered. KMAC camber/caster plates use a patented adjustment method designed for easy and rapid alignment adjustments. The KMAC design has a 'floating' inner camber plate, rather than slotted, to allow camber and caster to be adjusted together. To adjust, simply loosen the top three nuts on the strut tower and position the KMAC mount to match your desired alignment settings. The KMAC design allows more camber and caster adjustment because separate caster hardware is eliminated. While primarily designed to increase negative camber for track use these can also be used to fix alignment issues that cause uneven tire wear or unwanted handling behavior.
