But, when you open up the throttle, the vacuum controlled valves open up, and this exhaust gives your car a menacing growl. This axle-back exhaust system is manufactured entirely from titanium. This makes this system ideal for cutting weight while being structurally stronger than the OE exhaust system. The engineers at Akrapovic have retained the dual mode exhaust flap control from the original system. This allows the vehicle to have a more civilized, but deeper than stock sound at low speed. However, at higher RPM (or when selecting the S mode on the gearshift) the muffler is bypassed, creating a deep and sporty sound much more in keeping with the personality of the car. The included exhaust pipe tips are made completely from titanium OR a carbon fiber/titanium composite to add a high-end, refined style. Performance has not been left out of the design. The system dramatically reduces backpressure and is an excellent starting point for further engine tuning or turbo modifications. Even when installed on an otherwise stock vehicle a gain of 7.3 horsepower and 17.4 Nm/12.8 lbs-ft of torque are achieved. Furthermore, a weight reduction of 3.0 kg/6.6 lbs. is realized. The OEM catalysts are retained, so no reflashing of the ECU is required and the check engine light will not be triggered. We set out to amplify the F80/F82 with a proper exhaust system. To accomplish this goal, our engineers at Turner increased flow and delivered an exhaust system that captures the full unrestricted sound of the twin turbo inline-6 S55 engine. The increase in flow was gained from dual 2.5" stainless exhaust pipes that feed into one of the best designed mufflers on the market. Our in-house engineers specifically designed the muffler with flow in mind to ensure that even with the exhaust valves closed, our Turner muffler flows better and sounds better than the stock muffler. The best part of the catback exhaust is the capability to control just how aggressive you want to your exhaust to sound, far beyond the point that the factory exhaust is able to perform. All of this plus the direct fitment and straight forward installation leads to the Turner Stainless exhaust being the clear answer in your mission to find the best exhaust for your S55 powered F80 or F82.

Constructed of 100% 304 TIG welded stainless steel, Active Autowerke has created a modular exhaust system that will provide enough flow to support power levels way above the stock S55. The stock S55 Midpipe is a dual-pipe system from each turbo that leads to the rear muffler. The resulting sound is far from pleasant, and without any real scavenging effect the turbo lag is fairly pronounced. By converting to a single 3.5" pipe directly after the downpipes, AA's system promotes exhaust scavenging along with higher exhaust velocity to produce a quicker spool, more power, and a much smoother exhaust note.

Dinan sport mufflers are designed to compliment the M3/M4 and not overpower the driver and passengers with harsh tones. Dinan engineers their exhausts to sound great and be a natural fit to the character of the car as well as produce more power and torque. Four 3.5" stainless tips engraved with the Dinan logo fill out the rear valence (choose either polished or satin black tips). Annoying highway drone has also been engineered out of the system. Dinan uses only 304 stainless steel in their systems for the maximum corrosion protection. This system replaces the factory rear mufflers at a pre-determined cut point on the stock exhaust, which makes for an easy installation and you can reinstall your original mufflers using factory hardware. Detailed installation instructions are included.
