Improper VANOS function will cause reduced power and poor fuel economy. The VANOS system is BMWs version of variable valve timing and can be found on the intake and or exhaust camshafts. The system uses a pair of electrically actuated solenoids that direct the flow of pressurized oil to the VANOS gears. Depending on engine requirements the VANOS system can advance or retard timing as requested by the ECU.
The VANOS solenoid controls variable camshaft timing by controlling oil flow to the VANOS adjustment unit. These commonly fail at higher milages but are easy to replace. If your VANOS solenoid has failed, you could experience rough running conditions, a loss of power, and a check engine light. Replace your faulty solenoid with this OEM unit from Pierburg to restore smooth engine operation and power. Two are required for models with an N55 or S55 engine Four are required for models with an N63 or S63 engine

This M6x16 mounting screw is used throughout the BMW model range on a variety of components. Most importantly, this is the latest updated version of the cam sprocket mounting bolt used in the E46 M3 S54 engine (and MZ3 and Z4 M). The original VAN0S-cam gear mounting bolts are known for weakness and a sheared bolt will quickly lead to VAN0S or terminal engine failure. 12 are required for S54 VAN0S bolt replacement (6 per cam sprocket). All other quantities vary based on application.
When doing any sort of repair or maintenance there is no replacement for genuine factory parts. Turner Motorsport carries the Genuine BMW brand with pride and has the parts you need to complete your next project with confidence.
